Half the fans from Huntsville didn't even get in to see the game because they were too late.  They were told to get there early but they didn't.  Great atmosphere for the kids to play in and to coach in and be involved in.

Last night at the Yates/Huntsville game it was sold out around 7:15 and game time was 7:30.  There was probably 7,000 inside and another 2,000 outside.  I guarantee you there wasn't another regional out there that was that well attended. 

Definitely beatable. They are going to remind you of the team Livingston had last year when they made their run to the regional tourney, matter of fact that's who they beat to get their. Their defense can be suffocating sometimes and can completely dismantle you offensively when they are playing their defense with energy and passion. They play a 1-2-2 and will extend it out to half court sometimes when they want to push the action or feel like they can make a run. they will run that 1-2-2 3/4 court most of the time and are real aggressive in trapping and will extend it to the full court some. They will fall back and play it in the half court the rest of the time. They are long and athletic and essentially play 5 guards. They start a 6'7 kid but he doesn't play a ton. Offensively, they run basic motion and like to dribble drive you a lot with Hull (pg) uptop with Hall and Reese sitting in the corners to light you up. That's if Hull can't get to the rack which he can some. They are pretty basic vs a zone but are effective. They can shoot when they are hot but if they aren't hitting they can become an average team. Hull - 6'2 ish PG. Handles the ball mostly and can drain the 3 some. Likes to try and drive the lane a little and see if he can get in the paint. Hall - 6'0 ish Guard. To me is the heart and soul. I think if you take that guy off the team they aren't the same team. Can shoot the three ball and will light you up if left open. Breedlove - 6'0 ish Guard. Solid player and is active around the glass and rebounding. Can knock down an occasional 3 if left open. I might have this kid's name messed up with the big kid but you will know who he is because he's bowlegged. Reese - 6'3 ish Guard. Freak of an athlete and can move. Signed with Utah to play football. Can go and will attack the rim hard in transition. Not the greatest ball handler but adequate. If you let him get started he can be hard to stop. Big Kid 6'7 ish post. Like I said earlier I think I'm getting this kid and the breedlove kid mixed up but I can't think of their names. Not a great athlete, can cause problems on the glass because of his height. Not going to take the ball on the block and make a great move on you. He will come out fairly quick and will be replaced with Colvin. Colvin 6'1 ish Guard. Will come off the bench and is pretty good. I honestly think the only reason this kid doesn't start is because they want to start a big kid. Will light you up and is very active around the rim. Nederland can definitely beat them but they will have to play very well because Brenham is no pushover. They will flat out get after you on defense and you have to have some ball handlers to control the offense. They will trap you in the corners and force you to move the ball quickly or they will turn you over. Very rarely will you see them run because their coach will slow themselves down. They will run but if he has a small lead or is down some he will make them slow down to get a good shot. As long as the action is moving though he will let them run some. Forney will definitely be a big advantage vs their zone and because of that their big kid will have to play more, which I think is good for Nederland. That's just my two cents and I might think of some more things later on. Good Luck Nederland.

That sucks for Clarksville.  I worked with the head coach there for 2 years.  Learned alot and I know, even without talking to him, that he is upset about this loss.  You fans in SE Texas should know who the head coach is at Clarksville, he was around here for a LONG time.

Their dynasty was first cracked last year when they lost to Livingston. That was the first crack in their armor because Boutte was gone and the new regime had taken over. It was almost like an omen that the first game without Boutte they lose. They proceeded to win district but exited real quick against Huntsville by a wide margin and it was easy to see that Ozen basketball wasn't going to be the same for a while. Boutte was the reason Ozen has won and that's going to change if things stay the same as they are now. Just saying. 

not sure of the final but Livingston lost to Del Valle somewhere close to 12-13 points.  Close game at the half but Del Valle went on a run to start the 2nd half and Livingston never recovered.

Will rudder run Silsbee out of the gym?  Not sure, but being at Livingston the last couple of years I completely understand the superiority complex people from SE Texas have towards all things SE Texas, and your assumptions that Rudder can't play and that Silsbee will run all over Rudder. I have seen Rudder play and they are going to run, run, run.  They sub in 5 at a time on a regular rotation. 5 in - 5 out.  They press you relentlessly and they shoot a ton of threes.  They will be a formidable foe for Sislbee and it should be a good game.

Dove, I think so.  I am talking about a kid whose last name starts with Coll...  If that is who your referring too then we are talking about the same kid.  They will be pretty good the next few years.  They will take their lumps this year I am afraid.

By the way, number #7 is Justin Gilbert, currently committed to Oklahoma State as an athlete.  You guys will understand him when I compare him to Dustin Harris last year from Livingston.  As a QB he throws better than Dustin did but they are comparable athletes. They struggled early in the year but they have been coming on as of late.  It should be a good game and neither team, I believe, will pull away until late.

Livingston's fresman group is pretty salty. They only lost one game in two years (and I'm talking about blowouts in their wins) to a junior high in The Woodlands that feeds into College Park and that junior high hasn't lost a game in 4 years. They have traveled every summer together and have won numerous tournaments together at the highest levels for them. They have competed in some national juniors tournaments as well. The point/wing player traveled with a Nike Hoops team out of the Angleton area last summer. He will probably be starting on their Varsity this year once he gets back from an injury he suffered early in football. That group has size, length and speed with plenty of basketball skill. They will cause some noise over the next few years because the grade behind them is probably just as good as they are. But, we will see how it works out as everyone matures out over the years.

Oh sorry. I was thinking of another brand, maybe I was thinking of Schutt? I don't know, but the revolution looks pretty to the kids but its not a good helmet imo.

Revolution helmets are horrible with concussions. I heard somewhere that they are actually having more concussions as a result of that helmet than they do with the Riddell helmet. A lot of schools are going away from the revolution from what I can tell.

So was everyone last year and with the same offense as this year they went 6-1 in district. That's poor reasoning.

Your right. Let me clarify something my post was directed at the Livingston Offense and its ability to move the ball because of their backs and such. Lumberton beat Livingston because their defense is atrocious. They can't stop a fist punching a wet paper towel. That's what I mean't by all that. Lumberton didn't stop the offensively at all and I know Lumberton has a pretty decent defense. Livingston was just running from their defenders MOST of the game, not all of it. It is the speed that kept them scoring. Sorry if there was any confusion because you are correct Lumberton did already beat them but they didn't stop them very well. If Livingston had an average defense they would be SCARY good this year or last.

I know you guys have heard it before but even people on this board last year were making comments about the team speed Livingston had when they beat yall opening up the reservation. I'm not trying to trash your players I am just saying things that people have said over the past year or so.

You know the one team that Livingston should be the MOST worried about, they should be wary of everyone, is Central. For you non football types let me let you in on a little secret about this district. With the exception of Central and Ozen, the rest of these teams are not very fast. Ozen has just not been coached well the past few years so that hurts them but Central has and they can ABSOLUTELY FLY to the ball. PNG, Lumberton, Vidor, LCM and Nederland are just not fast enough to keep up with some of these backs Livingston has. They hit the hole so hard and fast that the LB's are left standing there. I'm not talking about straight up 40 speed, I am talking about football speed and from what I have seen of this Lions team they have been able to turn some runs in to big gainers because their backs can fly comparatively. I know last year Central's defense over-whelmed Livingston in the first half because everytime Livingston tried to run there was another defender, because they brought the HOUSE, sitting on the edge to stop him and they were fast enough to do it. Livingston adjusted by hitting them up the middle on some traps and the Dustin Harris show happened but don't mistake anything, Central DOMINATED the first half because Livingston had not seen speed like that.

If you mean letting him drop pass and then scramble? Then yes they did!!! Seriously though, they were decent at best when they got in their spread doubles formation but they weren't going to straight up beat you with it. It was not their forte and even in the spread, 4 wide stuff they use it to spread the defense out and run on people with their speed. They did score some in quick bubble screen type stuff to the inside receiver so it was somewhat effective but when they are lined up to run in their tight stuff they are usually going to run it.

Domination, I agree with you and there are definite things they could do to improve their offense. It's just so stupid to hear week after week that team X is going to perform some kind of miracle and completely STOP Livingston because they run the ball. I agree they are one-dimensional but it's not as easy to stop them as most of the fans, PNG fans this week, believe that it is. Next week it will be the LCM fans and the next week it will be the Nederland fans. It's just comical that each and every weeks prognosis is "Team X will win because they will stop the Lions running game".

You people do realize that for TWO straight years everyone's BREAKDOWN of these games involving Livingston has been: "....if you can stop the run we will blow them out" "....if Livingston is one-dimensional they will lose" yada, yada, yada For two years you have all said Livingston was too one-dimensional and that they couldn't beat anyone because of that and yet for TWO STRAIGHT years they have gone 7-2 in this district being one-dimensional and put up OVER 400 yards of offense on the mighty Dayton Broncos last year and was by all accounts the second best team in Region III by the end of the year according to Bronco's coaches themselves. He's not fighting for his job at all. Knowing everything I know I would ALMOST guarantee you he had nothing to do with it initially. Actually, he prides himself on having a packed house and tells his kids that all the time. Actually, the fire marshall in that town is pretty strict. A couple of years ago at Livingston's homecoming they started sending people away. He is just like that and has the power to do it and the coaches and administration can't do anything about it. If you noticed the fence around the stadium there were three rolling gates that were ordered by the fire marshall to be put in a couple years ago. He has the right to do it and the power to do it. That stadium would be a nightmare to get out of quickly and that's why they have to limit people. Sucks though. Now, the noisemaker thing I agree should have been taken care of earlier than that. But oh well.
