Bridge City (0) Kilgore (34)---FINAL
PolkHighLegend replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
Awfully quiet in here. Where's missingband or whatever his name is? Like I said Falcons89, BTA. -
Yep. Barbers Hill is still playing last time I checked. We are just not nearly as obnoxious as BC fans. One of my best friends has a son that plays in your district so I get to hear all about it.
-
You're a little confused. I don't know a single person that lives in Kilgore. I'm happy that BC is finally playing someone that's gonna smack them around. Their fans (on here at least which is probably not a great sample size) have been fairly obnoxious and quick to make excuses (see LCM thread), while simultaneously not acknowledging the only reason they beat Huffman by 1 point was because their starting QB didn't play. So yeah not a Kilgore fan I just know what's gonna happen today.
-
They share 2 common opponents. BC LOST to LCM. Kilgore literally kicked LCM's a$$. And if you're calling 28-7 competitive I'll just check out now because we aren't starting from a place I can debate. I'll check back after the game.
-
If I get your point (and I think I do) no one should be confusing BC as a team that requires an opponent as good as Carthage just to obliterate them. They are a slightly above average team at best and they are about to play a great team. This will not end well for them.
-
I wouldn't miss this game for anything. Looking forward to sitting on the Bridge City and watching people's reactions and listening to their excuses. Kilgore is going to OBLITERATE BC. I'm betting they don't score. I would honestly feel comfortable giving up 42 points.

Bridge City (35) Navasota (27)---FINAL

I can't wait to watch this historically great defense against Kilgore next week! Great job Cardinals! It's been a great run Kilgore but you have now run into the best defense you have ever faced! I'd be surprised if the UIL even makes Bridge City show up to play this one. I mean it's pretty much beneath them at this point. -
Agree to disagree. BC would not have beaten Huffman if they had their QB. Anyone that has seen that kid play knows he makes an easy 14 point difference in that game (BC won by 1 point).
-
I guess we will see. I have no dog in the fight either way. I saw a bunch of people commenting on Navasota's tough schedule so I took a look. It honestly didn't look too tough to me. Tougher than BCs? Yes. Tough enough to say they are way more battle tested? Not in my opinion. Bridge City's first 3 games are pretty laughable for sure but they are a solid team. Like I said earlier I think all 4 teams from this district would have beaten Chapel Hill.
-
Chapel Hill was not the Chapel Hill of old. Every team that made the playoffs in 10-4A would have beat them. BC will beat Navasota as well and then it's over. Kilgore will beat them by 28+ That is not to discredit them in any way but Kilgore is just a different beast.
-
I'm hoping BC wins because I'm gonna buy a ticket and go sit in Bridge City's stands to watch them play Kilgore. Keep this energy up BC.

Anybody want to elaborate on what the hell this is about?

Vidor (28) @ Hardin-Jefferson (29) - FINAL

Are you guys talking about the same kid? I thought we were talking about #1 from HJ? Are you talking about #0 from LCM? -
Vidor (28) @ Hardin-Jefferson (29) - FINAL
PolkHighLegend replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
That's what I was saying. There are a lot of good athletes in this district to be throwing that around in my opinion. -
Vidor (28) @ Hardin-Jefferson (29) - FINAL

"arguably the best athlete in the district" You're right. I'm sure there's many people that would argue that. -
Huffman (35) @ Little Cypress-Mauriceville (28) - FINAL
PolkHighLegend replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
Huffman has been doing that all year. They'll have spurts when they struggle on offense and then score 21 points in 10 mins. -
I hope LCM for Huffman's sake but my eyeballs tell me Lumberton is better.
-
LCM had a harder preseason schedule. They obviously have lots of common opponents in district, but in my opinion not too much can measured by making that sort of comparison. Both teams beat Liberty badly, LCM squeaked by HJ, Huffman blew them out. Do you think Huffman is feeling better about their chances because of that? The answer is no lol. LCM is and should be a slight favorite. Neither team is superior enough to make a bunch of dumb mistakes and win. It really will be as simple as who executes better on Friday. They are very evenly matched.
-
100% agree. Livingston was 2-0 with their starting QB. Last week was his first game back. They should be able to keep it interesting.
-
I've adopted Huffman as my second team this year and have seen them play 3 times so far. The one thing I can definitively say is I don't know what to expect from them from week to week. They looked bad against Lumberton, great against HJ and a combination of the two against Livingston (although I think it's because Livingston got QB1 back last week and that made the game more competitive than most were expecting). Huffman will have to find consistency in the run game. They were boom or bust last week. It was either a 70 yard TD or a 1 yard loss. They only had 1 methodical drive that I can remember. Huffman's defense has been slowly coming around lately so I think it should be a good game.
-
How do tie breakers work in this district? If there are just 2 teams tied would it be head to head? What if there are 3 teams tied. Ive heard each district is different.

Livingston (35) @ Huffman (52) - FINAL
PolkHighLegend replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
Livingston starting QB returns tonight. Should make this a good game. -
Lumberton 42-7
-
My point exactly. Way too early for to predict the outcome. There were comments on this thread saying this game between LCM and BC was for the DC when that's not even close to being true. There is a path for Huffman and Lumberton to both win the DC outright.
-
Lots of ifs in that statement. I'll add another to your list. IF Huffman wins out and LCM beats Lumberton, Huffman is DC. It's pretty early to start crowning district champs or even predict with any degree of accuracy how things will play out. The 4 playoff teams are pretty much decided in this district, the places are FAR from decided. Huffman had a horrible game against Lumberton and now everyone has written them off. That's fine I guess, I understand that. Meanwhile they DESTROYED HJ last Friday and could have easily hit 70 points. They got 2 key players back and will give LCM and BC all they want.
