It's not the defense, it's the talent. BC went through the 5 man front like a hot knife through butter. The only problem was they they couldn't play defense themselves. Vidor sees nothing but 5,6, or 7 man fronts all year. This will be no different from for them. I want Huffman to win, I really do. I just don't think they have a chance in hell of slowing Vidor down. And you better hope QB1 makes it back or it will be a blowout.

Man there is a lot to unpack here. I'm literally laughing out loud reading most of these comments. Clearly a bunch of new Huffman trolls but mixed in with a really inflated opinion of their team. I'm a fan of Huffman. Unfortunately I'm a bigger fan of the truth. The truth is Drayden Bacon (the RB) is probably the best player in the district and can single handedly win a game for you. The younger Bacon (Dailen) is probably the fastest kid in district and can run by any DB out there and his hands are improving. Both are D1 talents. Huffman has 2 linemen that are D1 talents in my opinion. One has several D1 offers and the other should. After these 4 kids, the well is pretty dry. #13 is very well rounded football player. Everyone else is just a guy on the team. They are so far below average on defense it's crazy the OCs haven't exploited them more. Why do you think they went to a 5 man front? Because they can't stop running water with 4. Obviously teams should be picking them apart in the air, but no teams in this district can pass the ball so they are getting away with it. Vidor is a bad matchup for Huffman. I feel they will wear them down and run away with it at the end. I think all these Huffman players need to get off their phones and worry about the game and not a blog.

Nothing says hot like losing to Shepherd, Splendora and Liberty. The district is terrible. Y'all may or may not be the least terrible team in this district. In the past everyone has ragged on this district for being bad, but this year takes the cake. If HJ would have opted up, they probably would have won it.

Their O-line has a couple of good sized kids. Huffman has had to play them on the D-line as well in spot situations to sure up the run. Without them in the game Vidor will run all over them. This game is gonna come down to who doesn't turn the ball over or make stupid special teams mistakes. Neither team will consistently be able to stop the other team from scoring. Huffman's QB left the game with a sprained ankle. Hopefully he makes it back or it will hurt Huffman tremendously. He throws a good deep ball and Huffman has the WRs to go get it. The backup is a deer in the headlights Sophomore. He will make a lot of mistakes if forced to play.

Sounds like they should have opted up again because district 9-4A D1 is really bad.

It was his ankle. He is pretty tough so I'm concerned for him. Huffman's lack of depth is rearing it's ugly head. They are having to put their two best offensive linemen in on defense to stop Lumberton's run game. They are getting tired and are less effective on offense.

Heading into this week this is how I see the district finishing: 1. LCM 2. Vidor 3. Huffman 4. Lumberton

They want to cover, they just can't. If Lumberton can actually throw they can score at will. But can they stop Huffman? No one else has been able to lately. I know I sound like a broken record but this district is so down this year. If the same Huffman team that lost to Liberty, Splendora, and Shepherd somehow wins this district I'm formally petitioning to the UIL to immediately dissolve this district.

My bad, you are correct. I was thinking of #44. He got hurt in the 4th I believe.

He absolutely played against Huffman. He left either late in the 3rd or early in the 4th, but he 100% played. It was IMPOSSIBLE not to notice him.

Yeah they really are. The RB has to be the front runner for district MVP. Bridge City waited too long to get started. Vidor will drop 60 on Huffman. I'm curious how the Huffman Lumberton game will go but I think Huffman probably wins.

This district needs to be put out of its misery. I've mainly been following the HF / WOS game but checked in on this game and my God BC is awful.

I think they may be trolling the group people. But Huffman did have 3 TDs called back against Liberty. Still no excuse but just an explanation for why that turned out different than what most people were expecting. This could be a really good game. Huffman's defense is absolute A**, but from the looks of it BC's offense is as well. Bacon is the key factor in this one. If he rushes for 200 yards it's gonna be a long day for BC, unless Huffman pulls a Huffman and loses 2 or 3 possessions on special teams.

I don't know what to expect from Huffman. They have losses to Shepherd, Splendora and Liberty. I thought they would get beat easily by LCM and somehow they won. Looking at the scores BC looks bad this year except they beat Lumberton. Not much would surprise me in this game. I know BC will have its hands full with Huffman's RB.

Surprised me a little too. I'm not surprised Huffman scored 28 (that was around what I thought they would score). I'm surprised LCM looked that bad offensively. if you can't score more than 21 against Huffman you have problems. Aside from number 13, Huffman can't defend the pass at all. I can't believe LCM didn't try to exploit that more.

Huffman gives away a couple of possessions per game on special teams and their defense can't stop running water. If they could get even semi - competent coaching they could keep the game from being a total laugher. Their offense can score points in bunches at times but it won't matter. I'd expect LCM to win 42-21 or so. Peavey has always schemed good against Huffman. Huffman's QB's legs hurt LCM when he would tuck it and run the last 2 years and with him gone now Peavey won't have to worry about that and it should make them much easier to defend. LCM will have to defend the deep ball but if they stack the box against Bacon they will hold them to 28 or so. LCM will have that many by halftime.

I had every single game wrong, but I still think all the teams this year are worse than last year's version except Vidor and maybe Livingston. I know Liberty beat Huffman last week but that says way more about Huffman than Liberty. I still think Huffman will mess around and not be the victim of the abysmal coaching staff on one night and rain on somebody's parade, but will not make the playoffs. That BC / Lumberton game was a head scratcher based on pre district results.

I'd say Vidor is the favorite. LCM is next. I'd put Lumberton as third and Huffman 4th. The BC collapse is real. If they can't score they'll lose to Huffman. Liberty beat Tarkington by 1. That's not gonna cut it. I'm not entirely sure what to think of Livingston. They probably have just as good of a chance of finishing 4th as Huffman.

The coaching staff is really bad. The head coach has been in that position for 4 years and they've gone 3-7, 1-9, 9-2, and 7-4. The last 2 years were pretty good but that was all they got out of the best talent the school has had in years. Losing last night to Splendora is just embarrassing. They do have some really talented kids on offense. The defense has no talent and more importantly they don't coach technique at all. It's REALLY bad. Next year will be worse. The freshmen group is really good but it won't matter until something at the top changes.

After tonight's scores this thread rings especially true. If I had to do a power rankings right now it would be: Vidor LCM Livingston Lumberton BC Huffman Liberty

Yep. Bridge City losing to Orangefield? LCM is admittedly young this year and they may be 2-0 but I think tonight they get beat by 4 TDs. Huffman's defense, special teams, and most of their coaching is laughable. If they lose tonight against Splendora (very possible) expect things to get a little uncomfortable for the coaching staff. Livingston got blanked 33-0 by a Rusk team that had 1 win a year ago. Vidor was young last year so I expected them to be really good this year. What's surprising is not that they lost to HF, but that they were beat as bad as they were. This district is a toss up.

Is it just me or with the possible exception of maybe Vidor is every team in this district significantly worse than last year?
