Hamshire-Fannett (49) @ Vidor (28) - FINAL

Good lawd man…. Right now it’s not about who do I think they would beat. Right now it’s about building the programs numbers. Building support from the community. Being competitive from start to finish. Play 4qtrs of football in all 3 phases of the game. -

Energize the program by brining the numbers back up. Put more fans back in the stands. Be more competitive year in year out. -

Haven’t said they’re bad. All I’ve said is that a change is needed. Someone who can reel the kids back in, motivate them, and energize the program. -

Your point being?? None. But I’ll bit on the “not because there has never been good coaches in Vidor. So, since you’re well versed on the head coaches that have been head coaches at Vidor… who do you think some of the good coaches are? -

Did they see the coaching change.... you doubt they know much about any of those other schools?!?!... lol, huh?!?! The schools I'm talking about (OF, BC, LCM) are within 10-20 minutes of Vidor. Sooooo, yes, the kids know about the coaching changes at other schools. Kids today know more about what's happening at other schools than kids did 20-30 years ago. Kids are more connected to other kids at different area schools.... Social media, travel sports, etc. 🤦♂️ And take you "historically horrible" somewhere else. -

Nope sure don't. Last year was a losing year with a lot of upperclassmen. *Point being... Freshman, Sophomore, Jr. Sr., whatever.... They do not want to play for this coach. Kids are smart enough to see what a coaching change did for programs like OF, BC, LCM. -

Yes. Those kids are good too... but from the rumblings on the streets, I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them quit football and stick to baseball and basketball. And the kids who would be the ones to quit are skill players. Honestly, I don't blame them. Who wants to run right and left all game and get beaten down game after game? And before people get on here and talk about "the spread"... I'll be the first to say Vidor does not need to be a spread offensive team. Does that mean we have to stick with the slot-t, no? There are plenty of offensive variations where you can still be a run-heavy team. -

I agree to a slight extent... Yes, kids are soft and have been soft for a while, but one thing about past Vidor coaches is that they always got kids to play above their potential. Murphy and Mathews would have kids running through brick walls for them. I remember Dan Hooks saying that there was one thing you could always count on when playing Vidor... Vidor is going to hit you in the mouth for 4 quarters... well, for the past couple of years, that has not been true. This HC does not excite his players. He does not have them motivated... and anyone who has teenagers or deals with teenagers knows that you have to keep them engaged and motivated. They get sidetracked pretty easily lol and once they are sidetracked it's hard to reel them back in... especially when kids see their friends on other teams like a BC or OF who are both having success after hiring new coaches. To sum it up.... The kids do not want to play for this coach. Period. -

Boos are getting LOUD in Vidor. I'm seeing social media post and have read emails that have been sent to the school board and superintendent. -
Window dress the run with WRs split out wide, TEs, motion, etc. There's so much that can be done to disguise the run. But nothing will happen unless people start voicing their displeasure. The superintendent, the school board, and the board of trustees who made this hire all need to hear from players, parents, and supporters.
-
Playbook??... You mean sheet of paper lol Vidor needs a change... ASAP. If not, the football program will not survive much longer. Kids, parents, and supporters are tired of the same old stuff year after year. Sure, with a new coach, Vidor will take its bumps and bruises, but look at what's going on with the current coach/s. Excitement needs to be brought in to rejuvenate the program.
-
Vidor still can be a run heavy team with the threat of passing. Two, maybe three wide set with a TE, two TE set, throw in motion... many variations that you can still be a run heavy team. Give the defense a little extra to plan for, think about.
-
NO ONE in Vidor is asking for the spread. You do know there are more offenses than the spread.
-
Players, parents, supporters are not asking for an offense that throws 30+ times a game. They are asking for an offense that throws somewhere between 15-18 times a game... screens, slants, outs, etc. Right now the players are discouraged and unmotivated to play. They need and want excitement brought back within the program.
-
That's comparing apples to oranges.
-
I know for a fact that as of today (9/8/2025) emails have been sent to school board members and the superintendent... and more will be sent. People are not happy and finally some are starting to speak out. Will it do any good...not sure... but it's better than nothing.
-
Hopefully, parents of players and supporters throughout the community will start voicing their thoughts and concerns to the superintendent and school board members.
-
The problem is kids aren’t motivated. Kids need excitement to keep them motivated. It’s only going to get worse before it gets better. Parents, supporters need to voice their opinions, thoughts, and concerns to the administrators and school board. Vidor needs a fresh set of coaches that will lite a fire back in the program. Cause right now…. It’s pathetic.

I don't know much about Santa Fe. Give me Vidor by a couple. As far as the number of passes Vidor will throw, I'll say it's a low-ish number. Not going to put too much on film before district starts.
-
Last year. Played Kilgore in the 1st rd.
-
Thank goodness you are not in a position of decision making for UIL high school athletics, because you would have sports programs folding left and right.
-
They're not going to beat Silsbee and realistically its probably not going to much of a game but they may surprise a team or two in district.... *Next year and the following year they will plenty of noise. As long as everyone continues to play football. This sophomore group has lots of talent on the baseball field as well.

Does big enos know you're playing on the computer?!? Vidor will surprise people for the next couple, few years.
