We were supposed to get beat down the last 3 years. But Dayton does not play well early in the year, so we decided to play Angleton. No fella - the schedules changed because of redistricting. If we were running from a fight, you think we would have scheduled Angleton?? They are better than Dayton this year I think.
Soooooooooo... FW has a sure win against WOS based on how we played in a first scrimmage against Dayton... but Angleton is better than Dayton after getting their teeth kicked in last week by a 3A West Columbia that went 3-7 or 2-8 last year... Hmmmmmm ??? ::) :-\
You clearly are not paying attention to my posts. Did I say anything about a sure win?? Did I draw any conclusions from your terrible showing vs Dayton? Do I think Angleton is not any good because they had a subpar showing in their first scrimmage. NO. What I did say is that Angleton is better than Dayton, and we are not running from Dayton. Can you get that? Yes I do think we will beat WOS, team that is supposed to have good speed, very little size and depth. We are a very athletic, strong, fast and disciplined team with good size and depth. Can you stay with me there Gasilla, I know I threw a lot at ya! PS - I had not ready anything about the Angleton vs West Columbia scrimmage, so I went looking. There is a big difference between these two descriptions -1.  Angleton did not play well during the controlled scrimmage where WC kept them from scoring much if any. WC did not score any. In the timed scrimmage - Angleton dominated. 2. Angelton got their teeth kicked in. What I interpreted from the sports reporters that were there, Angelton was very flat, WC was pumped and it was a draw. Once Angleton got fired up, they took it to them as expected. Do your homework Gasilla! PS by all accounts I have read Dayton dominated WOS and WOS dominated poor Vidor. So - using your logic WOS will win the state title!!
"Columbia held state-ranked Angleton to one TD and FG, while scoring 5 times against the Wildcats. Columbia scored on the first and last play from scrimmage and totaled 4 scores during the scripted portion of the scrimmage. In the 2-15 minute game clock portions of the scrimmage Angleton scored once and also kicked a field goal, while Columbia only managed a single TD." This is from another website and is the bare bones about that scrimmage. Yes that looks pretty much like they were handled pretty good by a 3A team that wasn't very good last year. As for all the other excuses you are posting about that scrimmage, I'm not gonna address because it is obviously full of homerism from some homer writer, if what you said is even true.
Did I say anything about a sure win??
You have predicted your team to win and you argue about us having more speed, but at the same time assume you are correct about FW being bigger, more discipline, athletic and having more depth... You have not come right out and posted a sure win, but you defnitely insinuate it by your demeanor. Are you able to grasp that? I know that's throwing a lot at you? OK I will spell it out for you because you are one of those who can't recognize your own arrogance... You did not say directly that you are bigger, stronger, as fast and more discipline, but if you mention those things, and feel pretty confident that you are going to win (which you have posted previously) then you must feel that you do have us beat in those areas, right? Hello?
What I did say is that Angleton is better than Dayton, and we are not running from Dayton. Can you get that?
No, I don't get that, I understand not running from Dayton, but I don't get you repeatedly mentioning how good Angleton is and even saying they are better than Dayton, when you have nothing to base that on other than to try and prove your argument. Dayton went to the Semi's in 07, Final's in 08 and the Regional finals in 09. What has Angleton done other than perform poorly against a subpar 3A so far? Anyway, I've said enough, I've dealt with your type to many times. You will not see it. It's those dang rose colored glasses... ;D
 2.
Todays FW teams are completey different!  You cant use 2000 when trying to make a point.
That is why I prefaced that with the statements, "I have not seen our speed compared to FW" and also put into parenthesis that I realize the last time we played was a long time ago. ;)
 3.
FW will put up 40+, they will pretty much shut down Wos throughout but will give up a couple scores late with reserves and less intensity.  FW will have too many weapons tha WOS will not have answers for.
If that happens I will congratulate you guys... If you are wrong DO NOT come back and try to erase this post. If you do I will embarrass you to no end... And I will take sooooo much pleasure in rubbing it in your face!! ;) ;D
 4. FW fans think they are going to win because they are big and have executed well in the past, Panama is merely saying that WOS has a shot because we will be faster. What's the big deal??? Both sides have a reason why they think a team will be successful. I would imagine that WOS IS probably faster than FW and FW IS probably bigger than WOS. I don't know why ya'll are getting so excited about it. I never read where he said being faster guaranteed a win, but neither does being bigger and beating Dayton 47 years in a row... ;) I have not seen our speed compared to FW. I do know that when we played them in 2000 (which was a long time ago, I know) we were WAY faster than FW and their players even said so after the game. The game is going to come down, as always, to match ups. Period.
 5.
besides the fewer dropped passes are we sure WOS improved that much or just played a weaker team??
Vidor is definitely no Dayton no doubt, but WOS moved the ball at will on Vidor. They scored 43 points and had 2 turnovers inside the 10 yd line. They dominated the scrimmage and that's about all you can really ask for, isn't it? No one has claimed state title potential, but yes, there was definite improvement, like it or not.

We could play once a week or something.
Yes, I think we could put something together. Lets get some interest going next April before school lets out and se what we can do. I think it worked out pretty good for our first year. We will make even better next year. Lets keep in touch.
Sounds good!
 8.
I ain't got a horse in this race  ;D get it? But WOS doesn't have a chance. FW is too big and too strong (and fast)! I've seen them beat us (Dayton) for the last several years and if they have anywhere close to the same team as the last two years it's done. WOS should just look at this game as another scrimmage.
LOL... WOS always has a chance...
 9.
Someone said Vidor was big??  I guess I missed the big ones.  Definetly the smallest Vidor team Ive seen!!
Vidor defense was small, but the offensive line was pretty dang big.
 10.

Again, you're creating an argument that doesn't exist. No one said that speed was going to make WOS beat FW. The point I made was a single, solitary point. WOS can run circles around FW in the speed dept.  I never claimed that one should infer anything from that fact.
And I am sure you are faster than Lake Travis. Congratulations. What else do you want us to say? Folks are asking who is going to win the game and you keep saying yall are faster. We understand your belief, but again - how do you know you are faster? PS - I think only a couple people have predicted a 20 point win, many others have it close. I have no clue - never seen you play. If Dayton is a gauge, and it may or may not be, then you could be in trouble. But I take scrimmages with a grain of salt. FW scored on every possession against Galveston Ball last year in our scrimmage, and look how well Ball ended up doing! We will only know after the game. But I will be back to talk to Gasilla!!
Make sure you are because I sure as heck will be!
 11. Not if they play like those Grandma's say they did. Vidor isn't terrible.
 12. I have heard it from a reliable source (2 players great grandmothers) that LCM is in for a long season... ;D
 13.
WOS QB looks very good.  Very quick.  He definetly dont have pass protection.  To his credit all his yards gained passing was thrown on the run or on a screen.  That small back 43 is hard to keep up with.  With 5 on one side, 18 on the other, and 43 in the back field who needs protection.   As for Vidor, my Grandmother taught me if you dont have anything nice to say then dont say anything at all!!  So thats all im going to say other than going to be a long year!!
I didn't see what you saw, apparently. Vidor put some pressure on Garrett early, but as the game progressed he had more time. The line looked better as the game went on. It is just a scrimmage, but what you are looking for right now is progress and I saw a bunch, not only from last week, but from the start of the game to the end. Hopefully, the trend will continue.
 14.
so its still a go but for 5pm
Ok Skipper, what the hell does that mean? The irginal said Freshman started at 5, does that mean the Varsity is at 5?
 15. Hey Bulldog, you think we could have a league next year. We could play once a week or something.
 16. Polls are just like "Pickem" contests. The established and older polls are going to go with teams that are consistent and established. The newer and less known ones are going to pick a few darkhorses to try and "one up" or gain ground on the older polls. They also have a tendency to pick teams local to the persons making the polls and have an aire of "Homerism"... I don't pay much attention to any polls other than the Coaches Poll. If a coach thinks a team is good or is going to be good, then they probably will be.
 17. So, if I show up with my WOS garb on will that get me a few "high five's"? ;D
 18. Bulldog8, now that I know you, don't tell me that you are one of those old school Bulldog fans who think when other teams do well it was luck but when your team does well it was skill and good coaching, are you? Please say it ain't so... Bulldog fans have come a long way over the last couple of years, we ALL have those one or 2 who just can't be objective, but you didn't strike me as one of those.
 19. Griffin is the QB at Baylor and I think he is a Sophomore, but he also was injured last year and completely blew out his knee. Hard to come back from that.
 20.
I can't believe some of the off the wall predictions Im reading. After what Dayton did to WOS I would not get to carried away with my predictions. Nederland on the other hand had a good scrimmage against FB. I was told by a Nederland coach that they have much more depth this season than last. Especially on defense. I look for a good game. Nederland should win this.
I think that all real Mustang fans know this will be a close game. Even the last couple of years, even with the final score being lopsided, the games were close until late in the gameor second half.
 21.
lmao
What are you laughing at?
 22.

I agree, that is about as bad a first outing as I have seen from WOS. Got a long way to go. Dayton looks very good for this early in the season.
But everyone knows Dayton does not play well early in the season, that is the only reason FW has been able to beat them, right guys?
I have no idea what you are talking about...
 23.
i doubt fw will be too concerned with the wos speed.  they face that  on a regular basis.  im so sick of  people talking about speed and fw not being prepared for it.  every year we hear the same garbage.  dayton is so fast, bmt central is so fast, nederland is so fast.  look at the results folks ots a football game not a track event.  i dont know about everyone else but i know fw puts football players on the field and good ones.im no sure why people think fw is slow, they have speed in the right positions just maybe not the wealth of it as some teams  once again they have football players that are very well coached and they flat execute better then pretty much everyone.  with that being said leave the track shoes at home it wont work to well for anyone.
You know, I've been reading all you FW folks posts and I was thinking the same thing... I wish I had a dime for every team that has come into a game talking about how they would outsize us and out depth us... It don't matter, we face that crap all the time. And regardless of what happened in our scrimmage against Dayton, unless you FW people have had your head stuck in the sand for the last 20 yrs (inlcuding one FW pounding back in 2000), you should know that predicting a 20+ point blowout is foolish. Dayton had the benefit of getting us in our first action against another team this year. You won't have that benefit. They also played 3 more games than we did last year which makes a difference. Just make sure you guys don't disappear after all these lofty predictions... Oh yeah, you guys have also made it abundantly clear that you are 6-0 against Dayton... Dayton has never beaten us in a real game either...
 24.
Didnt WOS schedule C.O. Wilson and some Beaumont school?  I heard there were some good 7 on 7 action between C.O. and WOS.  Hope that translates into a good game.  Does anyone know when and where they play?
Yes they do play each other this year and I am not sure yet where they play. They also played one another 3 times this year in 7 on 7 with WOS winning 2 of those, but all three were close and intense. I look for the real game to be that way as well.
