They played a game during the summer.

Miller has a thing for hitting clutch shots. That’s the 4th of 5th time I’ve seen him do it. He can be shooting ugly all game, but if a win is on the line he will hit it.

Cy Lakes team has good handless and good inside game.

I saw the first season Beaumont Westbrook beat LD BELL in a state championship game in the Astrodome. Westbrook had Jerry Ball playing fullback. I think their QB was named Landry. And they had a speedy half back, whose name I don’t recall.

I remember them saying Barnes was on the field. I could be wrong.

I may go to this game. Last Silsbee game I attended Jeremy Johnson was the QB and Kalon Barnes was in the 9th grade.

I agree with yhe last post. When all the pieces are in place the Silsbee team will be very good. Last year this time was special, at least in terms of basketball. The football team left the playoff early. They brought all that energy to the hardwood, during the Thanksgiving b ball showcases. They upset ranked 6A Summercreek. Then that Friday they beat a private school, either Episcopal, or St Thomas. I was at both those games.

I got a tweak in my lower back. I started to stay home but I went to the hoopsgiving classic anyway so I could see Silsbee play warts and all. I asked a group sitting near me if they were from Silsbee. They said they were from Katy Tompkins. They wanted to watch how Silsbee plays defense. I told them how most of the team was still playing football. Wyatt got warmed up then started getting off some shameful poster dunks. Jared looked good for Silsbee. Some of the players for Silsbee have improved. Rice & Tristan Dean are doing things they never would have tried last season. Saw some new faces, 9th graders I guess. I left early. That group from Katy Tompkins left before I did. As the scores shows, it was that kind of game. I wanted to stay and watch BU vs Carter. My back was putting the hurt on me so I left.

The UT football program has not exactly set the world on fire since coach Charley Strong left either. Oklahoma is down in the dumps. Deion Sanders is pulling in five star talent to HBCU Jackson State U. Things are in a flux. Then there is NIL and transfer protocol. Guys I saw playing high school ball five years ago are still playing D-1 basketball and football. I guess will NIL you can make a nice living playing D-1 college sports.

As is said hindsight is 20/20.

Five years or so ago, before I retired, I was given a dps regular truck an told to go work in Bryan Texas for a week. That office was no where near as busy as my office in Houston, so I was working but also conversing. I talked to some strong Tx A&M alumni. I mentioned coach Kevin Sumlin just to seee the reaction. Sumlin was in limbo then. You could sense it was a matter of time before he would be gone. I felt that he, Charley Strong and the UT basketball coach got their jobs on the coattails of prez Obama. I don't have a picture posted but those that know me know I am African American. I am not trying to go political with this, just giving background. The TX A&M alumni were all adamant they wanted Sumlin out and replaced by someone better. Sumlin went on to bomb at Arizona, but that's a whole nother Oprah Winfrey show. Needless to say neither I nor the alums I talked to foresaw the fiasco in A&M football that happening right now.

At least two new players were to transfer to BTW, that was the talk.

I’ve had Q there before and we have discussed that place before.

I don't remember a Buckees; I haven't been out there in awhile. Maybe I just didn't notice. Good Qi just the same.
