1. Yea, I'm pretty sure he started a playoff game his Freshman year. You may need to go back and check your records...
2. Scooter, I played on a State Championship team back in the 80's. I can tell you from experience, going to the playoffs is one thing, but winning a State Championship is a whole other ball of wax. Not only do you have to play sound football and have acceptional coaching,  you also have to have a lot of luck and I think the planets have to actually line up a certain way. I think we played that entire year without loosing 1 starter to an injury or grades. That was I believe the first or second year of the "no pass no play rule". On top of that, our starters were composed of probably 8 or 9 juniors, 13 or 14 seniors, and 1 sophmore phenom. Its not an easy task but it can be done.
3. Yea, I heard about that challenge. I think its good. The kid calling out Big Joe will surely get his bell rung, but  if he dont quit or ask to go back to the JV wouldn't that be a good sign? I asked mine if he was scared of him and he said "no". Thats what you have with this group, even though Big Joe will bury them, they are not scared to call him out. No fear, or just plain crazy??? I dont know but that kind of attitude belongs on the football field. HJ does need all the help it can get and if these boys are not scared to step up, why not give them a shot?
4. I have to disagree, these boys need to get to the varsity level asap and learn the speed of the game. They have played together since they were 5. I honestly believe that they will contribute. Not taking anything away from the players that are coming back, but these kids are ready now. They went undefeated as 12 year olds, lost one game as 13 year olds and 2 as 14 year olds. The last 2 seasons were pure talent alone. Middle School football, from what I saw, only learns plays and thats all. No technique polishing or instruction. These boys need to get to the varsity level where the coaches are. It will do nothing but help them, and put HJ football back on the map.
5.

Tell me who you got?
Neither.  Silsbee has a better chance but it will never happen.
This is the kind of negativity that keeps things from changing Billiam!!! Get your head up and get ready because its coming...I can count 6 boys right now in the 8th grade that are 6'1" or taller and athletic as all get out!!! Thats just the big ones. That aint counting the fast as lightning back. and recievers. These boys have been winning since they were 10 years old on the grid iron and baseball field. Oh, its coming, the possibilities are endless. 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2014-15 school years, HJ will go deep into the playoffs in a sport other than basketball. Read my lips, "Other than Basketball"...
6. Also, I may be wrong but I think the money to pay teachers cannot come out of a bond, that money comes from another entity. May want to do some research on that also. I dont think any money spent on extra curricular activities for school kids is ever a waste of money. How much will a $25,000,000 bond make your taxes go up? I'm guessing $10 per year?
7. If I brought a kid over there to try out for this team, how many nights a week would I have to bring him over to Bridge City?
8. Does anyone know if Twin County is taking any more 13 year olds?
9. What about the Easton Stealth or TPX Omaha big barrell drop 3?
10. If this cat is bumping 89-90 from the left side, he's probably waiting for a pro team to make him an offer. Thats probably why he hasn't committed yet. I wish him well...
11. Hey, I'm just sayin, Hardin-Jefferson 8th "A" is 4-0. Defense has not been scored on...At all... But we got Bridge City tonight. Ought to be a good one.
12. Thats the way it was in 2007 and 2008 when we played Deweyville. In 07 they beat the dog out of us and were very good sportsmen about the whole deal. Then in 08 when we beat them TWICE, they were very good sports. Sept Claude, for some reason he doesnt like the opposite team kneeling at the end to not run the score up. Hehehehehehehehehe.
13. Awwwww man! I thought BIG POPPAS turkey and sausage gumbo was the highlight of the LoneStar Superbowls. Man this "Trashman" guy is a real douche!
14.

I'm pretty sure the Lord didnt assign puberty to 7th graders. A 12 year old is a 12 year old no matter what grade he is in. A 12 year old from Lumberton has been on the earth as long as a 12 year old from Sour Lake. Makes no difference. Thats how Lone Star looks at this situation. Kids get held back or wait another year and start school when they are 6 instead of 5. Some of those are eligable to play in STJFL, at least they used to be. Thats the difference in LJF and STJFL, Lonestar dont change the ages and weights and birthdates every year. Its not talent, Deweyville proved that 3 years ago when they beat West Orange. These forums are good to communicate and talk a little smack, but when you start degrading kids, someone needs to draw a line. I'm just sayin... Oh yea, GO HAWKS!!!!
we will beat the hawhs!!!!.......3yr are gone. . . . .beat that team NOW......WE are ALL about THE PROGRAM!!!!! The BIG PICTURE
How old are you? Like 6???
15. Is he going to go to HJ or is he now living in BMT?

17. Thanks Castor. Very good post. I too know these folks also, and still cant understand why anyone would throw a kids name out on this site. The fact is, he verbally committed to Lamar because the Head Coach asked him too, and because he's a friggin animal and loves to play the game. Get your kids out to work hard like he does then you wont have to be jealous of kids like him.
18.
Let's not get Silsbee involved in this conversation anymore please.......thank you
Your welcome?  ??? ??? ???
19. Basically what you have at HJ is a "Basketball" mentality. We just happen to have an exceptional group of boys that love to play football. Our boys had waited all year to play the mighty "WOS" to see where they stood and someone took that away from them. I know alot of boys on that team including my two boys, were pissed. Parents, including myself, were not happy about the whole deal. Hell, I guess if you want to go by what your team did against another team, why dont we use Silsbee as the one to measure by. WOS beat Silsbee 22-0 but HJ 7th "A" beat the same team 28-0. And Orangefield was basically the same score when we played them and when you played'em.
