I think they just rank them on how good they think the team is. Example: Rusk are the District Champions despite the W/L record. All of the teams in the district that have better W/L records finished behind Rusk in the standings and are "in actuality" not as good of a team as Rusk. Also, the "rankers" believe that Rusk is likely to make a decent run in the playoffs despite their W/L record. They believe that "when it counts" (such as district) Rusk will be among the better teams.
I definitely expect the "Thursday" team to show up against JD on Tuesday. Will be interesting to see how they fare against Circle but he is no easy pass either.
Agreed on what Rusk "cares about". Now that Rusk is going to win the district we can definitely see why Rusk has been "ranked". There have been many throughout the year that have questioned "why Rusk was ranked" and that "Carthage, Hudson or Jasper deserved to be ranked but not Rusk". The rank voters knew all along that Rusk is a different team with/without JD Thompson. The district also understands this clearly now and that Rusk is the best team in the district.
He will pitch in two of those games. He has been pitching on Tuesdays. Circle is who I have seen pitch on Fridays. Thompson usually plays CF when not pitching.
Understood. And "right now", Rusk is ahead of Carthage and in 1st place in the District which actually "means something" and is "not opinion". May be different in a week but at this moment Rusk is in 1st place.
Agreed. No one would have chosen Carthage to win the District at the beginning of the year. They are in position to do so now. I can easily see a "3-way" tie for first as well.
I will help you, "Allen had as much/more talent than any school in the state". And based upon your logic, Westerberg lost "elite status" as he was not able do any better than all of the previous "bad" coaches at BH.
Definitely impressive "without that QB". Just curious, do you suppose the single largest high school in the state had a significant access to talent? Or do you believe he won the title with average players?
Blame kids? It's not their fault. You should coach at a small school and report back on what happens when you have 20-25 players and "none" of them can run a 4-9 40 or weigh more than 220 pounds. Show everyone "how to win". Show everyone how to make those 5-0 40s catch a team full of 4-5 and 4-6s. Show everyone how to make a 200 OL with a 205 lb bench press move a 280 lb DL with a 300 lb bench press. You will be in high demand with your knowledge.
