  1. Actually no, not really thinking about speed. If anything, it would be size. Haven't seen the Lions this year, but the one thing I remember from last years game (other than the final score ;D) was that Livingston had some big ol' country boys. Course, the Bronco fans have learned long ago not to judge a team by size, as just about every team we play out weighs us by a ton or two.
  2. Hey that's a great idea!! "The Dayton Broncos - America's High School Team"
  3. According to "Lion Fan", the Broncos will face the winner of Elgin vs. Montgomery, on their way to a state championship and then a #1 national ranking, and then who knows......maybe the white house!
  4. These threads about Dayton's chances (to go all the way) or Everman vs. Dayton in the title game (even though Lion fan was yankin our chain) make me nervous. Please people, one game at a time!!! Last years Broncos were a special bunch of kids. The offense was unstopable the last few games of the season and the first 4 games of the playoffs. And we all know about that defense. The nose guard was Brent Kimmey and he was a monster on a mission. But he, along with several other talented seniors are gone now. I don't think any other Bronco fan would deny, that the competition level in 20-4A was higher last year. A couple of scrimmages this year are not good comparisons. Okay now that the disclaimers out of the way. The 2008 Broncos are also a very talented group. Cody and "The Beast" are the dynamac duo. But on the whole, is the offense as deadly? And while the defense has improved greatly (from the beginning of the season), are they as impermeable as Kimmy's crew in 07? These questions and more will be answered this weekend. Until then, all I'm saying Bronco fans is, how about a little more cautious optimism.
  5. This one should be a knock down - drag out!.............Literally!
  6. AJ or not, the offense was out of sync. Like I said, still very potent, but at this point of the season you would like to see them clicking on all cylinders. C. E. King dropped 62 on this poor team! Anyway it's not just about the numbers. It was just an observation on my part. My wife tells me I'm too critical. Maybe I'll listen....one day.
  7. The old home side is now the visitors. Not very big. All I can say is come early and bring your walking shoes!
  8. King is not that tough. They do have some speed and a decent running game but they are extremely vulnerable to the pass. Since it takes more time to score for a running team than a passing, I think the bulldogs outscore em in a shoot out. 42 - 35. Good Luck to both teams. Oh....and good luck to which ever team/fans has to park on the visitor side! Parking improvements are in the works, but it's painful right now.
  9. Course I gotta go with my Broncos. The defense has improved every week. Kudos to the coaches. Not a whole lot of size, but man they can play. The offense looked a little out of sync last night. Just a little. But even when they're a little out of sync they can still put up some gawdy numbers. Terry Asson (#2) looks likes he's starting to feel it. The fun begins!!! Dayton 42 Livingston 7
  10. The Friendswood Dayton thing won't happen in the playoffs as FW is going Div. 1 along with Angelton. I think the div. 2 teams from 24-4A are Manvel and Texas City. Brazosport may still have a shot. I for one am glad Friendswood is div 1. They seem to have our #. That Karam kid is dangerous. I know Dayton has improved a lot since that early non-district game, but I suppose it is possible that other teams improve also. All formidable opponents from that 24-4A. And watch out for Dawson in the years to come.
  11. Ditto on the congrats! Looks like we'll be treated to some more great football for years to come!
  12. Not quite sure I understand your comment/question about more insight. Theres nothing going on in Dayton but some great football. Watching Green and Dugat is special treat for Dayton fans. There won't be a combo like that for a long time. There will be other good individual players come along, but such a dangerous duo only happens once in a blue moon. When you see them on the field, they stand out like men amongst boys. With all that said, there are a few of us (bronco faithful) that simply observed a few things about the Dayton downfield passing attack that could use some slight improvement. Does this mean we're being critical? NO Does this mean we're ragging on Cody? NO Could it mean that we're just fans that observe and conclude our own harmless opinions?
  13. What? I guess your a Longhorn fan. I thought you said you liked the little guy. If Dayton and Everman are playing for the championship, who would you root for? Honest!
  14. I understand rooting for the underdog. I think that's only natural when you don't have a real stake in either team . I was glad to see Texas Tech win. Sure we would love to take down Lake Travis. Who knows, maybe we'll get another chance down the road. As far as enjoyment goes, the higher the stakes the higher the enjoyment is for me personally. So if we do somehow meet up with lumberton in bi-district and happen to win, it'll be nice but won't top the charts. Now if we somehow meet for the regional game and happen to win.....that would be sweet ;D
  15. I can't speak for the other Dayton Fans but for me it was just a game that kinda sticks in yer craw a bit. Mainly because we all know the Broncos would have wiped the field with them later in the season. Losing to lake travis didn't bother me near as bad. losing to friendswood didn't bother me. Those were teams that were better than us. But hey, the Lumberton fans are right. They won. We (Broncos) need to move on. And I think we will.........as soon as we get that sweet revenge!!!
  16. Yea I'm hip to Toups Graphics. I probably watch them too much! When I'm bored I'll go back and watch that Waller clip just to get the juices flowing. Great job Toups, keep em coming. Your right, he does a lot from the pocket. It's just that he's got all the time in the world back there and I would love to see him sit back there and pick teams apart with 10 yd curld, quick slants, timed out patterns. We're gonna see some teams that will shut the run down. But if it's there I guess you gotta take it. And yes it is all good!! Gonna get better too!!!
  17. Not sure. I don't think it's been set yet. I just hope it's close. The stadium not the game.
  18. I didn't mean the coaching staff wasn't doing a great job. Any staff that can take a small (size) team and do what they've done to other teams deserves alot of credit. They also seem to have a knack of improving the team dramatically throughout the season. Last year it was the offense mainly. (After the Lumberton game) This year the defense has become down right nasty in the last few games. I just thought that they would keep him in the pocket more and really refine their passing attack. The big O line is un believable! I don't remember a sack so far this year. If they want him to run, let him run from the pocket...scramble style. That way maybe he can get outside or have a little more open field. Don't run him off tackle. How many times have you seen him get cut down this year and you were thinking...man, is he gonna get up? He's tall and lanky, not the body style for hard nose running up the middle. The perfect body style and arm strength for drop back passing. They've got 4 excellent receivers. Why not use them more? Maybe ala Texas Tech.
  19. I have to agree with you Rollinac. Cody has an incredible physical presence on the field but there have been many times when a would be TD was missed due to the pass being thrown too hard down the middle or too long. Of course, I'll still rather him driving the boat than any other I've seen this year in 19-4A. He's got the raw skills no doubt. After last years loss to LT, I was hoping that the coaching staff would realize what kind of passing precision is necessary to make it to the big show. I was hoping that as the year progressed, we would start to see that. Or at least our version of it. But I have to be honest, it's not there. The receivers routes are not crisp, the timing is off, and with the exception of some great fades to the corner, alot of the down field throws are off. Maybe I'm unfairly comparing them to LT's passing game, but dude, we have a 6' 4" phenom with a rocket arm and they're not taking full advantage of him. I can already see it coming, they will keep running him off tackle until he gets hit by a real linebacker then it's over. Anyway, it's just my opinion. But don't get me wrong, I loves me some Bronco Football. More fun than I've had in years and I've been a fan since 82. When you get close like we did last year, it makes you want more! Sorta like heroin. All you other HS football junkies know what I'm talking about. Otherwise why would you spend so much time here? As far as who get's the stampede in the first round, Lumberton. Nederland will win at home. Then next week the real smack starts!! 8)
  20. Party's on! Come out early and let's talk some PLAYOFFS!!!!!!! :D I know...we can talk about the possible Dayton vs. Lumberton matchup, since no one has brought it up!! ;D ;D
  21. Not saying you wouldn't be welcome....but you know....birds of a feather......
  22. Alright....a Pre-Playoff tailgate party this Friday at the Woodrow Wilson Junior High parking lot. Located on Hwy. 146 in Dayton (of course) right next to the stadium. We'll start around 4pm and rap it up about 6. I'm still working with "administration" to make it like official and all, but if that doesn't happen, we can still have it, it just won't be official. Spread the word! Bring your own little set-up. I gotta feeling we're gonna need to help get everyone pumped up for Kingwood Park. No offense KW. I'm trying to get the band and cheerleaders and steppers to drop by and lay a couple down on their way to the stadium. Come on you fanatic bronco fans. Feel free to chime in with your own ideas. I'm sorta new at this so all suggestions are welcome.
  23. Hey what about getting something going for the last home game this friday? I have been wanting to do something all year sorta like barbers hill did, (they stole my idea) , with the band and cheerleaders and whoever else, before the game. Kinda like a fan/parent/ pep rally/tailgate party!!! I'm thinking the junior high parking lot about 4 - 6 pm. I've already contacted the Ms. Elliot. I'll post more as I get info. GO BRONCOS!!!
  24. When and where? Me and a couple hundred other Bronco fans will be there!!!
