No doubt about the give-aways! I guess we got spoiled over the last couple of years on the turnovers. I have a hard time remembering a fumble or interception. Surely we had a few, but it wasn't many. Maybe liltex will give us the stat breakdown. Pass coverage has to improve also. I'll consider it a success if Friendswood doesn't score on the flea-flicker bomb again this year!! Man-o-man. That would hurt.

Good point Payne. I was wondering if anyone else had that feeling as well. I saw flashes of some real athleticism in the scrimmages from several players. #7 Franks will obviously be a big threat. #22 Jakari Delasbor (spelling?) has gotten bigger, stronger and faster. He will definitely be a force to be reckoned with. He didn't get that many attempts, but #5 Baldwin showed some real speed out of the backfield. One of the more curious additions to the offense, to me, was the senior #24 Hines to wide receiver. Last year he was used exclusively on defense. He's built like a linebacker! I hear he squats a ton and is really fast. Guess we'll see how that works out. But yea I agree, this offense does have a heck alot of potential. Just hope they get in stride before too many games pass.

Haven't heard a thing about Bay City so far this year. That could be good or bad I guess. Based on what I saw last year, I think the Broncs will win by a TD or two. Gotta hold on to that football though!! How far is Bay City anyway. 2 hours or so?

Jackhammer is right about one thing. We did lose some good players. But I remember thinking the same thing the last three years after the first scrimmages. That the team didn't look that sharp. Passing game wasn't very crisp. Defense has some holes. yada yada yada. But then....as the season gets under way, the team gets better each week. So to say that we'll be "average" is pure conjecture. I have been amazed at how much the past Bronco teams have improved throughout the season. In fact, I believe thats the single best attribute of this coaching staff. The consistent improvement week in and week out. Obviously most teams improve in a season. The Broncos just do it better. So remember this thread jackhammer, and lets discuss it again around Thanksgiving.

Dude, don't waste the keystrokes on Mr. tough-talk. I wasn't able to make the scrimmage but after reading the thread, it sounds like the Broncos are indeed having their usual slow start. At least it appears to us fans as a slow start. Hopefully coach Stewart is holding back a little something. (At least on offense)

I sure have heard a lot about Mr. Beard over the last couple of years. I wish I could see him play Friday. Hey Toups, see if you can get some pics of Aaron Ripkowski puttin the blockdown on Mr. Beard. Won't your new camera do that?

I thought Jakari (#22) looked pretty good. He had some nice runs in the first quarter. He broke some tackles, and doesn't go down easy. He definitely needs to work on holding on to the pigskin. I know he had at least two fumbles. All and all, for a sophmore he looked dang good. I hope they find a way to utilize that offensive line. That has to be one of the biggest and best O lines Dayton has had in many years. What a group of hosses! They look like they could start for a lot of colleges. Seems like the quick out flat passes didn't work to well. Looks like the exact same offense with different personnell. Defensive front is strong. Hill, Jenkins, and big # 64 (not sure of his name) were all beasts. As with the last two years, this defense will be very strong against the run. Looked to me like pass coverage will need some work. Especially with the linebackers falling back. WOS had several passes with wide open receivers 10 - 15 yds. down field. Fortunately, most were dropped.

Man, sure is a lot of hype for a scrimmage! Yall got my football fever up. Looks like I'm driving to West Orange tonight.

I would too, but he is not on their posted 2009 roster. I was able to find AJ listed on the 2009 roster. Doesn't show him having a number yet (not sure what that means) but he is on the roster [Hidden Content]

Sounds like fun. A daytime game too. Might make a weekend out of it! Should be a good game, looks like LBJ has had a good team the last couple of years. I am curious though, why they would schedule the open date at the end of the season. Seems like they would want that week off to get ready for the playoffs. Hmmm.....guess coach wants to keep em' sharp!

Sounds like the new board will be more than adequate. Can't wait to see it with "Home" points on it!! What, just two more months? I agree about the west end parking. I assumed it was going to be for the visitors...since they have to park in the street.

Back to the scoreboard.....I personally like the idea of a big jumbotron type video board. Do we need it to win football games? No of course not. But with all the upgrades to the stadium recently, I think it would have been nice to go ahead and throw one of those in too. Guess i was just dreaming... cause' I'm quite aware that the cost is just way too much for the already strapped DISD. Oh well, I guess I'll have to make due with the new (regular) scoreboard and a kick*** football team! There are some other areas of the Friday night "atmosphere" in Dayton that could be improved though. Parking for one. When are they supposed to finish the new lot?

Yea I figured that out from reading some other posts about the problem. In the mean time, my mother got us 2 DVD's from the Liberty radio station. There was only one left at the time. Hard to watch because of the SS "perspective" but at least I have one. There was a lot of talent on the field that day. Fun game to watch. It's really hard to believe that no one from this area, DISD, KSHN or anyone else, recorded the game. That's life in Dayton, football is great, everything else.....questionable.

What's all this talk about a new QB moving to Dayton? Anyone know anything?

Obviously TR put on a show. Was he better than GG? He's might have an edge in raw arm strength. But as an overall QB, I still give a slight edge to GG. Keyword....slight. TR is definetly a hoss. But let me say this though, Cody Green is right there with both of those guys. The Broncos offense did not revolve around the down field pass as much as SS or LT. If you put him on either of those teams I'm sure his numbers would be in the same neighborhood. We will remember all three of these kids for a long time.

[Hidden Content] Both QB's put on a great show. Check the stats, they're pretty close. You could probably give TR an edge because SS got the win. I think the difference in the game was #4 (Ryan Young).

If anyone on here thinks coach Stewart is gonna play this one like the LT game last year they're crazy. If TR is going to beat us, he's gonna have to do it with his legs. Dayton's defense will be the difference. Broncos by 1 TD.
