  1. [Hidden Content] Story doesnt really apply to Lamar but I didn't see anywhere else to post it...relates to University of Binghamton (and some other schools that made the move to Division I) and had "trouble". Apparently one of the possibilities mentioned for stopping this problem would be to raise the reclassification fee by a large amount. Enough to keep, I would think, Lamar from going big time in football anytime soon.
  2. I think this has been rumored for several months, doesn't Hall now play at Navarro JC where coach Ray and several of his assistants were before they came to Lamar?
  3. It's been a while so maybe me memory is not right, but I thought Nabors had a leg injury of some sort, not injury to his elbow.
  4. Is there a possibility of getting a picture from the same vantage point this week, one year after Ike came to visit us? Would make a good comparison on the comeback of Bridge City to some of our friends that may not have seen the recovery in that area. Just a thought.
  5. Everyone please read the story on Smith (attached link)...you have to root for a young man who has gone through what he has.
  6. Not sure if he would have played much anyway, but didn't Mahoney miss a year due to leg injury? Looks like, on paper anyway, this year's team is probably a bit better than last year - or the potential is anyway. Go Big Red...
  7. Is size shown correct? If so then don't know if he could play LB in college, but might be a good special teams guy if he is as tough as setxathlete says. Also it shows Cody Hussey as a FR - didn't he play one year at a DII school? Good luck to coach Ray and his staff and to all the players. Can't harcly wait until September of 2010...
  8. I live near the school and people are starting to come in now!! But I was also in Walgreens a few minutes ago and a lady was buying 5 rain ponchos...so here's hoping she doesn't have to take them out of their packet...seriously, though, good luck to both teams and hope there is a great crowd and a great game.
  9. that's great, I was past there yesterday afternoon going to pick up my parrot at the vet's and it looked like they were close to being ready to put the sod down.
  10. Sure, a tough game but Bellville might win the local district as well...I don't think Livingston will go undefeated, not likely any of the 4A local teams will IMO, but I just think Lions will be all anyone of our local teams want to handle.
  11. NL Pujols Al Cabera Agree with both these choices...Pujols, NL and Cabrera, AL
  12. Do not play this week, open with Bellville the following week, Conroe Caney Creek after that and one of the Houston schools next then start district.
  13. Maybe an upset to some folks, but look out for Livingston...
  14. The way I understand it is that he would have been put on waivers and all other teams pass on him. I guess it is a "gentlemans agreement" among teams not to pick up a player that has been waived for the purposes of making a trade...but Rodriguez has enough left that I wouldn't have been surprised if someone would have called him up.
  15. [Hidden Content] Link to Lamar Roster...did Asa Cardenas decide not to come to Lamar?
  16. "Pinnacle High School's 6-foot senior point guard Nuno Muandumba signed a national letter of intent with Lamar State University a year ago. After recently running into some citizenship issues, Muandumba will now head to a local prep school ..." From Rivals website
  17. [Hidden Content] Congratulations Darius and to LU.
  18. not on the soccer field, only filed turf.
  19. Please let me know if I am wrong, but isn't Jamar primarially an inside player. At about 6'3" or 6'4" can he play a 4 or 5 position at Lamar? A very good player, I thought, but maybe he will be best served by going to a JC and working on playing a small forward position.
  20. Isn't this the school that former LSCPA coach Cole went to? Wonder if he will try to recruit some more young men from down our way?
