Week-9 Port Arthur Memorial at Lufkin Predictions
PackAttack replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in High School Football
Saw the Dayton Stadium for the first time last night as we passed through. That climb looks worse than ABE. I have made the climb to the top at ABE to our seats for 35 years, in fact still jog up to Row 40 and I'm much older than most who complain about the climb. Stallworth is no picnic either with those steep ramps. -
Week 8 - Beaumont West Brook at Port Arthur Memorial

My thoughts are PAM wins this, still believe they are head and shoulders above everyone else in district this year. The only one who can stand in the way of the Titans are themselves, at least in district play. Playing at home gives them even more of an edge. BWB has grown and become a better team than last season, they won't lay down and they have the athletes to match PAM. Two opposing QBs who have great WRs, can throw the ball and are dynamic runners. This has all the markings of a big rival match up. PAM by +14 -
DCTF - Beaumont United (3-2) at Galveston Ball (2-4) BU is favored by +2 points.
-
DCTF - Baytown Sterling (5-1) at Beaumont West Brook (4-1) West Brook favored by +21 points

Game @ Barbers Hill, BH will be the one of the better teams PAM has played since FB Hightower. Even the Sports Science team with #1 QB is 2-3 right now and giving up a lot of points even in close games. It's a big game for Barbers Hill not to have 2 losses in district with 3 games to play. Those two district shutouts by PAM over Ball and United are impressive. I have no idea how this game will go, but as I have said before the season began, PAM is a head taller than most in district 9-5A DI this year, the title is theirs to lose. Never understood why DCTF kept picking Lufkin to win the district, they never understood as I did how much retooling (new coaches, new offensive and defensive systems) it was going to take for the Panthers this season. Don't know what PA Memorial will have next year, but they are loaded this year, this is the class everyone has been watching the past three years, just like the senior class was for Lufkin in 2024.

West Brook at Lufkin Week-6 Predictions

Is the conversation about 4A DII Silsbee?, and them losing 37-16 to 3A DI Hitchcock last week? What was the shortage, injury? The Lufkin-BWB game will be close game and I'm just not going to get into anything other than the game before us. -
West Brook at Lufkin Week-6 Predictions
PackAttack replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in High School Football
I agree the identity or chemistry has not come together on the offensive side. The talent is clearly there, will need to leave it to Abseck and Kuykendall to work that out in the way they want to move forward. My 2 cent opinion based on what I think and see means zero, just not going there. West Brook definitely has the opportunity to win if the Lufkin O comes out stagnant again. -
WE are going to find out soon.
-
Can't comment on the DCTF rankings or the way they predict game spreads. It's all AI computer formula stuff now anyway. You think Abseck is not aware of Morton's return??? Abseck, Kuykendall and Cowgill know much about where they are going, they will have the Lufkin kids prepared to play.

Lufkin by 1 on the road. Got to back my PACK!

Lufkin (9-5A DI Reg III) and Tyler (7-5A DI Reg II) will finish their non district play Friday night at Abe Martin. Lufkin plays all of their non-district with teams to the North, in Longview, Nacogdoches, Little Rock SW, Ark and Tyler. Lufkin will head down South after this week to start district 9-5A DI play at Barbers Hill. [Hidden Content] Going to be a good game between two high octane offensive teams, which teams defense will step up to make the plays?
-
Just an honest question. How does it help BWB to play 4A DII Silsbee or 4A DI Lumberton football teams in non-district? I mean Silsbee might be a real good #10 4A DII team, but I could never see Lufkin, PAM or BH playing those classification teams. DCTF has Silsbee a 3 point favorite. Again, just asking. I mean Lufkin only plays 5A DII Nacogdoches out of tradition only and that game is rarely close. Maybe these are also traditional games for BWB from way back, I do not know the history there.

Lufkin (76) @ Little Rock Southwest (0) - FINAL

As far as I am aware we did not sustain any further injuries than the 3 or 4 we already had currently. -

LRSW has athletes, size, talent and speed, they are either poorly coached or not buying into what they are taught. It's a clear waste to watch such athletes with poor fundamentals and timing. Hard to watch, they have no mantra for winning, just go through the motions. That was a last minute fill in game for last season on the two year contract. Thankfully after realignment Lufkin will have new non district opponents, of course depending on where the Panthers end up. I don't count this game much, not sure what Lufkin got out of playing the game except everybody but the trainers got to play. -
Feeling fine so far. Feel like the area's of Lufkin's inexperience and youth will all be playing well by district. Pleased with the depth this team has, especially on offense. Varsity is dressing out 64 players, that includes 9 sophomores and a freshmen. Abseck said he would play the best talent he had regardless of the classification, and so far that has been his path. The implementing of the new defensive and offensive schemes have steadily improved each game. Lufkin learned much in the Longview game, there is not a single team in 9-5A that compares to them, maybe not in all Region III. They are a tough 6A out at their home field, don't let the 41-16 score fool you, it was 28-16 when they scored two TD in the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter, no running the clock in Longview. No doubt in my mind this district race has some parity and will be highly competitive between those the top four mentioned, even Ball, we can't leave them out. Thankful to have BWB, PAM and Ball games in Lufkin this year.

Beaumont West Brook (38) @ Aldine Eisenhower (0) FINAL

What happened to the storied Eisenhower football teams of the early 2000s? The last several years they have not been competitive. BWB is someone to pay attention to this year. -

SOC is right next to Lancaster, DeSoto and Duncanville, really good talent that may not get the same playing time in 6A, they just move in and compete well in 5A DII. As everyone else has stated, that's been going on in DFW a long time. UIL can't keep up with any of it. -

Don't think many Lufkin folks understand what it takes to be in that same category as Angleton, LaPorte, College Station, Weiss and AMC. Carl Abseck, he knows, and it will take him time to build it, if he can reverse the leadership complacency that was engrained within the football culture at Lufkin the last decade. -

Greg Tepper just blew off Lufkin after Stepp made a comment about them. Tepper just smiled and didn't say a single word before jumping on the PAM bandwagon. Which I agree should be head and shoulders above the rest of 9-5A. Tepper remembers giving Lufkin big props in 2018 and 2019 with some high rankings only for Lufkin to bow out in the 2nd round and 1st round at home respectively those years. Tepp has never been the same about Lufkin, doesn't matter they have new Coach Abseck. Tepp is not a fan, Stepp knows more about East Texas football. -

Sorry, moved my comment to 5A. -
VYPE's choices lean toward the SETX area as it should be I guess, nothing new for Lufkin, we deal with it all the time. It sort of adds incentive to the plate. Think the Panthers were picked 4th last year too and to be fair the Panthers have some substantial holes to fill this season. Anyway, you have to play the games and we will see in November how things turnout. Still think PAM has the edge to win the district with a talented senior laden team. They have been talking about that group for two years now. VYPE likes the McNeese commit QB transfer from 3A Anahuac to Barbers Hill, except I noticed Anahuac did not make the playoffs the past two seasons. BH has plenty of talent though from last year to make a lot of noise in district. Abseck left a good group there. West Brook is the team I think will surprise the most, watchout for those guys. Ball might be rated too high, Woodbury is good but the supporting cast might not be enough, even with a new coach. Lufkin has half the team back that went 10-2, and many new players have come out that previously did not want to play for the previous coaching group, plus 3 or 4 transfers in the offseason from Grand Oaks, Abilene and Jasper. It all starts in 19 days, so let's see where this ends up in November. There's going to be some very good district games.

Jordan Jones was completely left out of Coach Morgan's 2025 team analysis to DCTF. He is not discussed at all in any other article he is speaking about 2025. There must be a reason.

For all of my partial reasons I appreciate everyone picking Lufkin to win district, HOWEVER you must look at all the returning talent that PAM is bring back this year. I remember the Lufkin game at PAM last year, that was such a tough game, Lufkin was a senior laden team and it was a war. PAM IMO has few reasons not to be picked as the district favorite, they have 7 returning starter on O and 6 coming back on D. Lufkin has 5/5 returning and lost their whole starting DL and WR corp to graduation. They have some holes to fill. They get back their starting QB, all the RBs and OL from 2024, 2 LBs and plenty of experience back in the secondary. West Brook is going to be better than some think, BH had a QB transfer and if they can stay healthy they have a bunch of sophomore's who are a year older now. Ball still has talent and needs a QB, but their new coach is a winner and you can not count them out of anything. I think this is PAM's district title to lose, with all that talent, then after that it is going to be a lot of parity between teams with different areas they need to replace this offseason. Lufkin at BH is a huge game for the district race. PAM and Ball at Lufkin are big games. 9-5A DI 1. PAM 2. Lufkin 3. BH 4th and 5th. . Ball or West Brook 6. United 7. Sterling
