BC defense???????  They gave up 41 to HJ and 66 to WOS!!!!  I think that OF will score 27 at least on BC!!!!

ACTUALLY, the BC defense didn't give up 66 points to WOS....

they only gave up like 31 points...

(if im remembering correctly...) WOS didn't need their offense for like 4-5 scores on the game...

BC has a decent defense, it's their offense that is lacking...

BC by 10 i know the BC players are pumped up about this game thats all the have talked about they have to beat orangefield even if they didnt make the playoffs just beat them

I think some people have lost focus. This is a great game and should be. The crowds are huge. Not like PNG and Nederland but probally the next big draw as far as high school football goes in this area. Both communities support their teams. How can you say that beating Orangefield will make your season. I know that was not your exact words but it was the samething. The feather in the cap is making the playoffs and I want that for both teams. I mean how awesome would that be. Pretty awesome in my opinion. So if your team goes 1-9 ( just an example) and the only win was Orangefield, your season was salvaged. To me the priorities are not in order. Orangefield and Bridge City are playing for who comes in last. That upsets me. I want us to play for a district championship. The trophy mean nothing. It's a piece of hardware. I know it is all in fun but I expect more from these two teams. Hopefully the future will bring that.            OF 24 BC 21

yes, making the playoffs is so much more satisifying than just beating one team in the season...

but what he was saying is that if BC wasn't gonna make the playoffs then they want to beat OF this season atleast because it is a rivalry and because of what happened last season...

this being a rivalry game both teams are real pumped up to beat the other and  be able to brag about it the whole year until next seasons game comes around for a rematch...

it's gonna be a great game....

idk how good OF's defense is honestly but i think the BC Defense is gonna take care of buisness and shut the bobcats down...

now, the offense is what im worried about for BC.... their not putting points on the board...

I dont think it started off as a fake, the kicker couldnt handle the snap so he took off... Maybe BC's D shouldve stepped up and stopped the Mustangs from scoring.

As much as I wish I could think the Cards would upset the Mustangs, I don't see it happening.  BC's defense played decent against Silsbee, but when they hit somebody, they have to wrap them up and bring them down.  Offensively, they need a major overhaul and a miracle.  Just isn't working so I think with Coach Hooks and the athletes that make up the Stangs, it's gonna be a long night in West Orange for the Cards.

they did the SAME thing during the Kountze game. only difference is that the offense couldn't get going during silsbee...

Dude ? Are you seriously that delusional ? WOS is taking down proven 4A teams and BC is struggling to make par with teams in their own district. This will be a blow out. I like your blinded enthusiasm. however, at some point reality will set in.

im not gonna say BC will win, its not Friday night yet.

but IMO Silsbee is a better team than WOS and they only scored 21 on us...

i really do think BC can compete with these guys, and Friday night will either prove me right or make a liar of me...

I agree that BC defense played better in the second half but it was more of Silsbee's offensive ineptness, bad snaps, and costly penalties that kept them from doing anything productive in the second half, not so much the Card defense. I agree, the Cards showed alot of grit and determination in that second half.

BTW, if BC plays as well or even better than what they did in the second half last night, WOS still wins this one by 4 td's.

I admire your dedication and tenacity - but don't take any money out of your 401K and bet on it.  I understand the adrenaline kicks when you play your arch-rival (or one of them), but the Cardinals just don't have the fire power to take down WO-S.

and IMO silsbee seems to be a better team than WO-S (no offense intended)

but if BC has a great week of practise, and come out fireing from the first snap to the last snap, i think they can pull off the upset, but their offense has got to learn to put the ball in the inzone.

No, this isn't accurate either.  Cardinal defense did play better in the second half.  They were not the cause of the errant snaps and untimely penalties, however.  A combination of things, then, was Silsbee's problem in the second half.  Seems to me besides 1) better defense by Bridge City, 2) too much self inflicted destruction by Silsbee, and 3) Silsbee as a team seemed to say, "What the heck."We've got 21, they have nothing - so what's the problem?"  Very dangerous attitude as far as my opinion goes.  A case of quitting in reverse. 

the only thing BC couldn't get going is their Offense...

they kept shooting theirselves in the foot.

just didn't happen just the 1st or 2nd half, it was the whole game...

it's football. dont use that as an excuse.

I aggre with you but, you should of said grow up silsbee administration and a few stick in the mud fans, most of the community like seeing the student body getting so involved in the game.

That is two seasons in a row that HJ has beat BC.  I understand that the BC players heads may or may not be into football mode right now, but you cannot say that a team should have won when they lost by 27 points!!!!

i cant recall what the exact score was at halftime last night with HJ BUT with Kountze the game was 28-7 at half... 21 point difference, the half time score for HJ was about the same give or take a few points, BUT my point is that in the Kountze game you will see the WHOLE HJ game in the first half, then in the 2nd half of the game you will see the true BC Cardinal team they are capable of being...

BC Shut out Kountze in the 2nd half and BC score 19 points to make it a 28-26 loss...

so obviously something is wrong when you have a decent football team getting beat 41-14 on the first game in District!

and yes, i still say their minds were 100% on HJ and winning the football game i dont think they would have lost and if they did it be by only 3-6 points...

this game upset me as a fan,

BC is capable of so much more IF they come out to play!

a couple of the drives HJ had were stopped WHEN BC's Defense played where they should be playing the whole game, and they KNOW they can play,

their just not consistant enough right now, i sure do hope that changes,

the next couple weeks are gonna be TOUGH for BC....

yes, i believe they have a chance, but only if they play the WHOLE game at the top of their game with few or no mistakes....

but, if they don't, you'll see last season's games again the next couple games,

Just a couple of things.  Thank you Bulldog's for not running the score up worst than what it was.  I honestly can't see how people can say that  the purpose of the game is to run the score up make the other team feel worst than they do.  To me intentionally running the score up is poor sportsmanship.  NO I'm not say the bulldog's did that by any means.  The purpose of the game is to win.  When it is 28-0 at the end of the first quarter I think you can say that the opposing team is going to have a hard time climbing out of that hole that they are end.  If memory serves me there is not a team in the district that had a season or two where there teams struggled.  LCM is going through a very rough time and hopefully things will change in the near future for our school.  Once again I will say I am proud to support the Bears regardless of the score.  I will be there in the good times as well as the bad.  Thank you Bulldog's for a well played game.  Good luck with your remainder games should be a interesting finish to a great district.

im a huge Bridge City fan but i like to keep "updated" on the other schools as well, and when people say a team should NOT keep scoring as much and as fast as they can throughout the game it really ticks me off....

i dont care if the score is 28-0 at half or not, matter of fact, Bridge City vs Kountze comes to mind this season when you said that...

BC was down 28-7 at half, they went into the locker rooms to adjust, and then in the 2nd half they came out fired up more than ever, and they ended up SHUTTING Kountze out in the 2nd half, bringing a final of 28-26...

so DONT say a team shouldn't score as much as they can, because until a WHOLE 48 minutes have passed, its either teams ball game.

i dont care if it's 100-0 at half, you still try to score and make your team better....

theirs ALWAYS room for improvement, so dont stop, even if you do put your 2nd or 3rd string in...
