He won games off of talent, never his coaching ability. He got too much credit for wins and never enough credit for the loses. Atascocita will be looking for a new coach in three years when they fire Stump for losing.
I don't have a dog in this hunt, but you can't have it both ways. Either you give credit to the coach when they win and blame him when they lose or give the kids credit for the wins/losses. If the talent was so good (as u claim), then don't you think the team could overcome bad coaching? So does the Ciabalo Steele team who beat PAM by 20+ points have a good coach or is it pure talent? A TEAM can have all of the talent in the world (see Miami Heat), yet not win. It's not always the coaches fault, but many on this board LOVE to point the finger at the coach. I'm not just talking about this thread, but I see it all of the time (not just football coaches). It's kinda like the Monday morning QB! All of you who come on this board and talk negatively about coaches, I have a question for you: What is keeping you from applying for this opening to see what it takes to be a coach? Why did you not get into coaching in the first place if you think you could do a better job?
No talent can not always overcome bad coaching. I didn't get into coaching because it doesn't pay enough. Exxonmobil is paying me six figures to be an operator. And yes I believe I could do as well as he did, if not better.
Any job openings out there at ExxonMobile?  ;D These coaches dedicate a HUGE chunk of their lives to coaching. Their hours are comparable to a physician, but the pay is not near as much. They provide so much to a kid's life which follows them throughout their lives. Winning is important, no doubt, but the coach can't do it all. We should all appreciate the dedication they give to our kids. I have a lot of friends who are coaches, and they barely spend time with their families b/c of the 100s of hours they work every week. I'm sure Coach Stump could have done something else with his career and made more money like you and me. But he chose the coaching profession, and I respect him for that. It takes a special person to be a HS coach.
I agree with everything you say about coaches and their profession! But, Coach Stump is not the great coach you guys are trying to make him out to be! He's an underachiever as a coach. Other coaches have done a lot more with a lot less.
Yeoj, I believe you are sadly mistaken. NO ONE could fill oil bowls the way YOU do!!! And NO ONE could have coached the way coach Stump did!!! Good Luck Craig!!!

Anytime 2 teams that play each other that are that familiar with each other there are going to be a little extra after each play. I personally liked it. I think most of the kids out there are too nice!! Now I know the knee incident and the helmet pull were a little much, but come on... This is not hopscotch!! A little piss and vinegar will do these boys good!! Stuff like this goes on in practice when the boys merge. I'm looking forward to it when they all get together. There is no whining needed about who and who doesn't have integrity!! If you won, celebrate! If you lost, work harder next time! I'm just glad to see some good coaching over there at Central. Maybe they will start competing every year!  ;)
[Hidden Content] SEE! It's not just me.
 3.
aw youngsters.. Best qb outta Port Arthur was Gary Hammond..by a landslide [Hidden Content]
Yep, Gary could do ANYTHING my dad says...I used to hear stories about him all the time when I was growing up!

The Roberts brother where pretty good at LHS/PAM in the late 90's and early 2000. LHS had a pretty good in 85 Ken Vaughn. Just to name a few. TJ had Lance Landry and Robert Ford in the late 80's.
I agree. Singleton probably in top 10 though.

And, they better get ready for the Pirates to run all over them. Many teams were supposed to run all over us, like Livingston, but they go home with an "L". Also, Crosby better play a little better defense because if all you are is offense, you're in trouble. I'm sure that Jeff Mathews has plenty of poster board material given we're playing them. And, you're just happy you don't have to play us this year because Dayton would be a one and out in the playoffs. Paybacks are heck. GO PIRATES!!!
All i got to say is you might want to invest in some 7 oz shoes for this game... because you be running track next week. =p
We have the speed to hang. You can believe that. Ask anyone who's played us. And, you better get ready for Montana Quirante. He even makes a keg of quality H2O.
Ok... I'm Scared now. That vaunted Vidor speed.
Where ya'll gonna make us play the game, Amarillo??? I can promise you the Pirate fans will go wherever your schoolboard will allow the game to be played. P.S., please take us lightly and you're absolutely right, everyone out runs us to the endzone. It's a wonder we won 5 games in a tougher district considering our lack of speed....must have been our passing game.
Right... but tbh your defense might be worse than the Cougs defense... Against the best offense in either district... Good Luck. You may have won 5 games... however you only beat the #4 playoff team... livingston/Ozen. PNG/Nederland both beat you... Your running name never got off the ground vs those teams. Our only common opponent is PNG. 41/221 6/16 109 As for having the tougher district... i believe the Cougs beat PNG and BH beat Nederland... right our district is so weak!. That scrub team Dayton is sooo bad. (Sarcasm intended)
Rock beat scissors, Scissors beat Paper and Paper beat Rock...Got it! It don't make a flying gnat poop who beat who, when and where now!!! It's the playoffs!!! Anything can happen!!! Like Crosby winning! ;D

 7. It's CA, what do you expect?  After they play the no contact football, they will all sit in a big circle on the 50yd line and smoke legalized Marijuana!!!! Probably provided by the home school district that has started growing some in Ag for tax breaks for the school district!!! ;D 8) ;D I know you were joking, but nothing coming out of CA would surprise me!!! ;D ;D ;D
 8. Wow! Green from Ozen looks good! Ned with a big sack and blocked punt! Wow inside the 5! Go dogs!
 9. Vidor by 4. PNG will have a few big plays. But I don't think the PNG "D" will be able to handle the ground and pound. Still think it will be close. Turnovers...these could decide the whole game. Wish I could see this one!
 10. With rain possible I have to change my prediction: WB- 41 CV- 19 WB will start a winning streak this week!
