Though i agree English is by far the better coach. Nederland and English also has an advantage when it comes to putting a program in place. Their feeder system is by far better than beaumont's. In beaumont the junior high coach's run what they want with hardly any input from High school coaches and the kids can choose where they wanna go after junior high. Even though Nederland has that to their advantage it takes a person like English to be involved and put a system in place like he has....so he still did the work. Unlike past Head basketball coaches at Nederland. English has worked from the bottom up to improve Nederland as a whole.
-
and everybody thought this was goin to be a rebuilding year for Nederland, because they lost so many key players and seniors. WRONG.... When you have good coaching and you know how to play the hand your dealt....theres hardly ever a rebuilding year.... Hats off to Coach English and his staff. Just think if Larry Neuman loosened up his grip....how good the basketball team could really be.

kid needs to be taught the right form and mechanics, then he or she needs to do it repetitive, until it becomes habit.

I get on SETX.com for tips like cutting a 5 gallon bucket and nailing it to a pole....
dont know if ur bein serious or pokin fun.....but when u grow up and thats all u have....i made do....and it came to be an advantage for me later on. please try it and see how frustrated you get.....and if you have a youngin have them start shooting on it....it will help in the long run

I wonder how many schools actually do block out drills.....not to get confused with rebounding drills. kids aren't even taught how to block out on freethrows....next time your at a game watch how many defensive players (when shooting FTs) have there weight on the wrong foot or how they place themselves.....

TURN OFF THE NBA, THROW OUT DS, PLAYSTATION, XBOX, etc Cut the bottom off a 5 gallon bucket nail it to a telephone pole and see how well you do. To help with shooting, not necessarily form, but i will say that it helped me to become a highly nationally ranked statistically shooter in college. a 5 gallon bucket was my first goal, the ball barely fit so perfect arch was a must. it was discouraging at first but i had determination unlike kids these days who quit something so quickly without having instant success.....hence xbox, playstation

oh i agree for the most part. for one parents have an emotional attachment to the game due to having children playing. So when they say anything that has alot of adjectives or adverbs in it....emotions talking.... These parents are the ones that think lil johnny or lil suzie is the best player even though their kid rides the pine and can't figure out why....uhhhhh....they re not very good mom and pops. REALITY. I played in a district when barbers hill and HJ were in it.... if you played at barbers hill in the 90s you knew how the refs were going to be same for HJ and i will admit the same for HF....cause i played there.
All that is left to do is hook, when the defense is allowed to put a forearm and a hand on you on a drive to the basket.... ;).... btw, The foul count doesn't have to ever be even. Any ref that bases calls on the foul count is a horrible ref! A foul is a foul.
i know it doesn't have to be even, but there's obvious no calls and ridiculous calls.... thats whats sad is when a ref favors another team.... it happens...so don't say it doesn't i see you didn't respond to the one sided comments.. hey if she can get away with it more power to her.... she dribble drives right every time you think defenders would catch on to that.
-
im pullin for hf in the next game vs HJ, but i already know how the refs are gonna be when HF plays at HJ. its always the same...one sided. So im predicting HJ will win by 15 or more. IF you disagree check the books for the foul count in last years game. All the offensive hooking that #5 does to get around players will not be called. I believe HJ will win the game no matter how the refs call...but its obvious the refs are one sided there. I ll already have an idea who the refs are going to be for that game.

i never said central didn't have good players..... central is always athletic, but you can't win with Athleticism alone. Athleticism can hide poor coaching just like good players can. When Green was at central there was good coaching and good teams. And just because a school makes playoffs and gets a playoff win here and there doesn't mean their TEAM is good as a group cause some teams have some individual players who happen to win games for them. GOOD TEAMS go several rounds deep at least. Good players don't always equal good teams Good players can sometimes equal selfishness
-
i know im going to here it on this, but its the truth Most kids that go to central are uncoachable....let me say again..MOST not all. I deal with this at the junior high level. They would rather scrimmage, try to cross some one up, or jack up a three that they have no business shooting than work on fundamentals....like form shooting, passing the ball, ball movement, free throws, dribbling drills, etc Most of them think they know more and whats best. To many individuals and not enough team. Watching the NBA is the worst thing for these young players. Trying watching Princeton or Duke instead.
