  1. I'm in NE Texas in Carthage. If a 20 foot surge comes in,  Port Arthur goes under water, their sea wall is 15 feet. Not sure at this time on how much salt water Mid county would get! Hope everyone stays safe and i'll be on from time to time.

why do you leave when a storm threatens?  You leave Greg and James high and dry?  I would have thought that any meterologist would love to be in a storm?

  2. It's hatd to listen to 2 games like that. Good station though.

Not hard, all you have to do is turn your speaker balance to LEFT or RIGHT to listen to whatever particular game you're wanting to, assuming you're not using one of the el cheapo radio's that don't have a balance control. I think that's a very great idea on covering two local schools with one FM Station!

    Why is it hard?

  3. According to KOGT.com, WO-S will not have a press box built for this season, for unknown reasons. They will, instead, have a 'temporary' pressbox on the Visitors side.

    From KOGT:

"What's hard to believe is that the school, which has built its reputation from the success of the football program, has yet to break ground on a new press box. And it's learned that there will not be a press box for the upcoming season.

Coach Hooks, who had no answers as to why construction hasn't begun, said he was told there will be an area on the visitors side with a temporary cover that will house the scoreboard operator, the media, and even the Mustang coaches and visiting coaches who are calling plays down on the field.

WOC Superintendent Dr. O. Taylor Collins is still out of town and was not available for comment."

  4. Not a district policy, but is cheaper to purchase these clocks at the same time that the scoreboard is purchased, so, since insurance is paying for most of these scoreboards due to Rita damage, the schools aren't having to fork out bunches of money to purchase these play clocks.. I can guarentee that if not for Rita, you wouldn't see these nice new scoreboards/playclocks :) So, something we can definitely thank Rita for in BC --- New scoreboards (Baseball/Football/Softball), new pressboxes with elevators and play clocks :) Thanks Rita for the damage to the stadiums8)

PS: KFDM Coop --- Only 5A and 4A schools AFAIK are the only ones required to have the play clocks.

  5. Are ANY of the Orange County schools rebuilding their pressboxes yet?? Last week, I was traveling through the different towns on work, and noticed that Bridge City is the only one who even has any noticable construction going on, LC-M and WO-S don't even look to have even started? I did notice, that WO-S had their lights up now though, and BC looks to be working on theirs, as they're all pulled out of the ground. LC-M's box looks like it did a week after Rita hit, and WO-S -- nothing looks to be done.. Gunna be bad when Week 0 comes around! What's the deal?

  6. For you Cardinal fans out there, The Record Newspapers and www.trianglefootball.net have gotten together, and are offering high resolution photos of all Spring Sports. Here are some details from the paper:

    ----

There are 230 photographs from The Record, most never seen before, being offered on www.trianglefootball.net to raise funds for the Cardinal Athletic Booster Club. Bridge City Baseball, Softball, Track and Basketball highlights from the 2006 season are available on the website. Funds raised will help the CABC recover from set backs suffered in part by Hurricane Rita

  7. I couldn't imagine BC wanting that type of game though, only giving Angelle less than a week to recoup.. The more 'recouping' time, the better for everyone, imo..

    From UIL:

TWO-OUT-OF-THREE PLAYOFF SERIES. If schools play a two-out-of-three elimination series, the first game may

be played prior to Friday, provided there is no loss of school time traveling to or participating in the game. Only one

game of a two out of three series may be played prior to Friday.

A two-out-of-three series that does not get a complete game in by the end of the day Friday automatically reverts to a one

game series. This means that if game one of a series has been suspended and cannot be completed by the end of the day

Friday, that the winner of that completed game will advance.

If one game is played and a second game cannot be played because of weather, then the winner of the one game advances

    to the next round.

If two games are played (and split) and the third game cannot be played on Saturday because of weather conditions, then

the third and deciding game should be played on Monday of the next week.

Schools playing a two-out-of-three series should set parameters for the series prior to the first game. The parameters

should include how the schools will handle weather problems and delays. Things such as how far the schools will travel

to find an available field, giving up home field advantage, etc. must be discussed before one team gains a position of

advantage after the first game is completed and weather becomes a factor.

  8. Why was my post promoting the BC website deleted? You guys go to the BC site and advertise this site all the time! Doesn't look like the Admin minds if you post your site on their site!

For those of you wondering, the BC Website is www.trianglefootball.net -- I'm sure that if the Admin knew that you were not allowing links to be posted on here, that he'd take action to ban links to your site as well!

BC fans, as I said previously, this is a great site, but while we're all posting here, let's post on the BC Message Board as well! That site is dead!
