1. He isn't the head coach.  Different guy.
2.
With 4 teams now, unfortunately, going to the playoff, it's not a must win yet.
How true.  With 4 playoff teams it possible to literally stumble into the playoffs. :P
3. Steve McCarty (first WOS Head Coach) coached the Greenies at South Park before taking over the WOS program.  As long as we are at it, don't forget those Royal Purples at Beaumont High!!
4. Plenty of bright spots for our Cardinals tonight, but I have serious concerns about the Defense.  UIW, a Division II school ran and threw at will.  Our kick-off coverage was terrible.  I am hoping for improvement before we face our SLC opponents.
5. Mustangs by 10.  But WOS better get their licks in on Jasper this year because those Dogs are young and have all the makings of being "Bad Dogs" for the next few years! ;)
6. No one has ever made a living out of predicting what the UIL would do.  They bounce from boring to bizarre at any time.  Realignment time will be "fun" again in early 2012! :P
7. The more things change, the more they stay the same.  Bottom Line:  Successful coaches run whatever offense allows them the greatest chance to win.  Stop them and they are no longer successful.  We all remember (well, at least us old guys) the hey-day of the Wishbone.  Pretty boring but extremely successful......until defenses learned to stop it.  Then the Veer.  Same story.  I love the I-formation but not many teams run it.  I fully expect the Spread to morph into whatever might be the next "cool offense" over the next 10 years.  It always happens. Then we will occasionally see the resurrection of an "old" offense i.e. the Slot T.  Coaches are often "victims" of their particular generation of thinking.  Many today have been "raised" on the spread just like many of mine were "raised" on the Veer.  This too shall pass. ;)
8. Having lined up for a 60+ yard FG last week and then making a long FG Friday night, plus the howling gale at the kicker's back,  I thought it was a good call.  Chain-Gang Defense is your insurance policy.  If the FG was good, it would be a genius move.  Who would have thought Friendswood would not only be able to score, but also convert a 2-point conversion?
9. Luke McFarlane moves from Orangefield  assistant to work with Coach Griff at his home school of LC-M.
10.

This entire conversation makes me laugh. The best laugh that I have had was that Sam Moore and Fackler are some of the all time great coaches who have mentored Coach Landry. If you have been around baseball for any time at all and know anything about the game, you would know that it is only a business for these men. All of them are fine people with good knowledge of the game but it is about money only. If there is a true amount of baseball love and desire to teach the game, then why not be a true teacher and be an educator of young men in high school. By doing this they could prove that they have great teaching skiils and also teach kids the more important things in life. It looks to me that they take the easy road by charging huge amounts of money for special classes and then benifit from it by saying "I got "4 Little Johnny's scholorships". A true coach teaches "Little Johnny" on the field, off the field and in the class room for much less profit, and that high school coach loves the kid for much more than monetary profit.
I've known Coach Moore and Coach Fackler for years and if you think they have hit a goldmine in instruction, they have fooled me. They provide a service that obviously the public thinks will benefit their kids, both don't hold a gun to anyone. Besides Coach Moore and Coach Fackler their are other instructors in the area who provide this service.
I must agree Admin.......following that line of thinking, Sylvan must be robbing parents along with other tutors of various academic subjects.  As a teacher,  I appreciate anyone helping my students to learn whether it is about Math, Science, Social Studies, English, or even Baseball.  Teachers and coaches do their jobs and tutors/coaches add whatever they can.  None of us are getting rich but we all do it for the same reason. I too fail to see where these coaches coerce anyone to employ their services. I thank Chris and Sam for what they offer and deliver.  If anyone doesn't feel their services are valuable, my advice is to not hire them.
