  1. Well it looks like I'm the only one who sent him my opinions and the reason Dayton is there is because I'm really not very familiar with that district outside of Barbers Hill. As far as they go with setters, they will be just fine. If I'm not mistaken (which I could be) they did not lose very many people from the team last year and most of their hitters are coming back. I thought Megan got hurt last year...or was that two years ago?
  2. I don't think L-Town would want any of Cleveland this year. I don't think png would want any of 20-4a this year. I wish we could get a multi million dollar field we couldn't win in. When was the last time Cleveland won state? Went to state? Have the tradition PNG has? Hey...teams have bad years...you can't always be on top. Ask La Marque and Southlake Carroll.
  3. I've seen very little improvement from HJ over the past years. I thought with their two new coaches they got a couple years back that they would get better, but they really weren't even very competitive last year. Perhaps they were young and are going to come around this year. However, I do believe they are good enough to beat you if you aren't ready to play. If the basketball players are allowed to play volleyball now...there's where they could really improve and become a very good team.
  4. OF has made great strides in getting good volleyball coaches in there. Does anyone else find it interesting that every year people say HF is the possible sleeper and every year they make the playoffs. Eventually they should get respect right? If this was 4A and there were 4 spots...this wouldn't be so exciting!!!
  5. Haha...I know you are a Silsbee Tiger...I thought you were a reporter though. I have to agree with BleedOrange...they will not dominate volleyball...might not even make the playoffs. They can throw the towel in for Basketball. They lost a lot in track. I'm not sure in softball but I do know they lost some Very important pieces. But this is about volleyball...should be a very fun year.
  6. The talent they have in the high school right now...they could very well have a great impact in every sport for years to come.
  7. The only thing PNG has ever copied from LCM was their losing ways last year...haha...both helmets look good.
  8. Silsbee this Silsbee that...aren't reporters supposed to be neutral...lol.I do not know how many Silsbee volleyball games you covered last year but they lost a lot of important pieces and had an extremely weak j.v. Now...they very well could have had a lot of young ladies sitting the bench on varsity (I only know of one that was a sophomore and she was pretty good). I've said it before and I've stated the reasons after breaking the teams down (look at earlier post) this will be a race between four teams for three spots. I believe BC will win the district because they were very young last year and always seem to play the smartest volleyball of all teams in the district. The other two spots between HF, OF, and Silsbee. Can HF and Silsbee replace their dominate hitters and great setters (both teams played a 5-1)? Is OF volleyball ready to take the next step in this district and be known as more than a basketball school? It's should be a very fun year.
  9. Sounds to me these are conditions to better your education. Would you have to get a waiver from the UIL to play sports? So what happens if a child leaves and Title 1 school and performs poorly academically? I assume you aren't allowed to transfer to another Title 1 school right?
  10. I still don't get it...what you are saying is highly ILLEGAL!!! You can't just go to another school just because you want to.
  11. Lumberton by at least 30 unless they turn the ball over a lot. HF will not be very good this year. Maybe in two years.
  12. I'm not really too sure what this person is talking about either...I mean I know Silsbee had Chastity Foster move in the second half of her Junior year and had some Douglas girl move in. I know a few years back they had a girl actually transfer to Nederland to play. Parents move all the time to places where they believe their kids will have a better opportunity to succeed, play, or be coached better. But as far as accepting transfers...I don't know what they mean.
  13. It's nice to see a community accepting an AD with high standards. I remember seeing comments on here from the H-F community bashing their AD when he came in for his standards. I'm not sure exactly what they were but they couldn't be more strict than this. Students and athletes will meet the bar wherever you set it.
  14. PNG were also runners-up in 1999. I would have to say looking at that PNG has the best tradition around. I don't know much about Newton but if they have 3 state titles they are right there as well. WOS is right there as well. Sorry HD55 not saying HD doesn't have a great tradition because I've never lived out there or know a whole lot about their school...but I wouldn't say they have the best. However, it does seem like they have put up amazing numbers in the past and do have a great tradition. Just not the best imo.
  15. I think WOS will beat Silsbee. Could and should be a very good game. I think BC will beat HJ and I don't think that is an upset. BC was very inexperienced (at a lot of key positions) last year and I believe a lot of those kids are coming back. Minard was just a freshman I believe and they were a team that just continued to get better as the season went on. I look to see them as the #3 team in the playoffs. As far as OF goes...they win one district game and that's a game against HF. HF...I don't think they are being underestimated...I think they are being evaluated correctly. They had a down year last year but all of those "superstars" are gone. They lost a lot...all you have to do is look at the team preview setxsports did for them next year. Now in a couple years they will probably be competitive...I just don't see it next year.
  16. What about PN-G, WOS, or Jasper...does anyone know how many they have won?
  17. Very Very impressive history. To have a string of shut-outs like that is simply amazing. I bet it felt like no one would ever score against them. The seem to have been down the last 20 years or so as far as playoff runs go. I think I only saw once that they had went deeper than the first round. But all in all...great historic program.
  18. Whoa numbers are even lower than I thought. So they are now somewhere near H-F's numbers. And I would say WOS still have a decent team... HD55...I don't know what you are getting so worked up about...but calm down. No one is saying OF has a good football team...but how has HD been doing the last few years. I believe all we are saying is there is a difference between classifications because you just don't have the numbers sometimes. No one is saying HD doesn't have good athletes...they just don't have as many as your higher classifications b/c there's less to choose from. Don't give me this late 90's stuff and try to compare it to today...you know HD was MUCH better then than now. All I've ever said is it's a little presumptious to say he will be the best athlete at OF. All agree that there are many players at smaller schools that could contribute to other programs that are bigger...but there are also a lot of athletes that contribute at lower schools that couldn't contribute at bigger programs. I think Huc will be good and will contribute. Let's just wait and see before we announce him the best athlete on the team.
  19. By the way...WOS is not right under the cutoff for 4A. They are in the mid 700's and continue to lose students. I believe BC was bigger than them or pretty close last realignment. They are almost, if not, 200 students under the 4A cutoff. Sorry if my comment earlier didn't come across how I meant for it to come across. Good players are good players. I do believe there are many 1A and 2A athletes that could play and impact the higher classifications every year. All I'm saying is saying Huckabee will be the best athlete at Orangefield hands down is quit a statement. Maybe he will...maybe he won't. I do not know anything about the kid. I was combatting the fact that someone said the only adjustment he'll have to make is going from a winning team to a losing one. I didn't think that was fair b/c if H-D would have played in Orangefield's district they would have not faired any better. And I know H-D is a much smaller school but that particular poster seemed to just be comparing skill...not size.
  20. LCM, Nederland, PNG, and Ozen...PNG really doesn't seem to have a lot of talent in the program right now so I wouldn't be shocked if they aren't in the playoffs...but I didn't think they were all that talented the past two years and Comeaux just continued to win.
  21. Well I'm sure the four teams fighting for those three spots are working hard. I haven't seen anyone play this summer. I don't usually watch any volleyball during the summer months. All I can say right now is it's going to be BC, OF, HF, and Silsbee fighting for those three spots and my gut is telling me BC wins the district and HF is on the outside looking in. But I haven't seen anyone play. Season will soon be here and a lot of games to watch.
  22. So you really don't think there is a difference between WOS, Silsbee, Kirbyville (2A/3A) than most 1A schools? I'm not trying to knock 1A schools but less talent comes out because there's less kids that go through. I know Colt is from a 1A and so was Teddy Lehman from OU. All I'm getting at is just because he was a great athlete at H-D does not mean he will walk on and easily be the best athlete at Orangefield. Yes Orangefield didn't have a good year last year. But did they play H-D and how would have H-D done in that district...probably not any better. Come on...if PN-G was 3A last year they were in the playoffs instead of 1-7 (i think) in district. For average teams...there's a big difference from one classification to the next.
