It means the top 4 times ran at the district meets will make it to the state meet. That means as of right now my 1600 meter runner who is a sophmore(thank god) has run a 4:27 mile which is ranked 4th in the state, but because we have a slow slow district he has the 5th fastest time based off of district times. Therefore he does not get to go. On the other hand we have 3 girls and 2 boys who now are going to the state meet.

Huffman

Summer track is good for all athletes except distance runners. Running to much speed after your track season will run you into the ground, and cause you to be tired for the following season. Summer mileage is the right thing to do. Now if you want to run summer mileage and then show up once a week to race at a meet that might be ok, but not training on the track everday.

What he is referring to is the fact that it was a 1.5 mile course, and for the girls and middle school runners who ran 2 miles some of the faster ones were lapping the ones at the end. When this happened some of the runners only ran 1.5 miles and ran to the finish line instead of completing the final 800 loop. Some of the parents came up to me and told me, and unless they had hard evidence I didnt say anything. So you are right for the 3 mile races there was no problem, but not for the 2 mile races.

Stephanie Hernandez has been having some achilles problems, so I decided to run her in the 3A Under race. She won the 3A under race with a time of 13:34. Hey cardinalcc just in case you don't know I am the head coach of Huffman. Being from Beaumont and a graduate of Hamshire-Fannett, I read this website faithly. Coming from a school like Huffman or Hamshire-Fannett they usually don't get much media coverage, so I was just complementing Van Wade. It was always funny to me that I never got any recognition for making it to state in cross county ,my better sport in high school, but actually made the front page of the Sports section in the Beaumont Enterprise for shooting 3's in basketball. Cross country is one of the sports that isn't noticed by many, so Bridge City and the schools in the Orange area are lucky to have someone who will cover it. I would like to consider myself pretty knowledgeable about distance running, therefore you don't know me well enough to understand that I am TOTALLY aware of our lack of DEPTH.
