Great game Jasper, Bailey and Spikes really wanted it tonight. Great season Tigers. I do believe the better team lost tonight. they were simply outplayed. It was a night when our shots weren't falling. Some of that was Jasper's defense but a lot was just simply they weren't going in. We missed too many free throws down the stretch as well. I did have a Jasper fan get in my face after the game running his mouth, when I hadn't said a word. That was just uncalled for, I wish the Jasper players luck but especially after that one fan all I can say is Take care of 'em Hawks. I do think overall in both games the officiating was not up to the standard it should be for a regional tournament. Some calls were just not made, not saying it cost the Tigers a win, Jasper did that just wish it would have been better.

I have to say that both the Hawks and Tigers should have real good teams next year but both have a couple of big starting spots to fill. H-J's point guard will be back and he has started playing on another level than what he did early in the year. They also have starters Turner and Ricossa back. Silsbee has 5 players coming back that have started all or several games this year plenty of height, but will be missing an all-state point guard and a great all around player and shooter in Walters. Not to mention Byars shooting off the bench. We will definately need someone to grow into a good point, I believe we have several shooters coming up but not sure how well they will fill the rest of Walters and Robinson's starting roles or Byars spark off the bench.

This has nothing to do with who wins the Silsbee-Jasper game I consider both of them southeast Texas teams. So if H-J wins we would have 2 teams in the finals.

Just for highlights though, right?

Wasn't wanting past rivalries.. If I had i would have mentioned some of these HJ-Kountze, Kountze-EC, silsbee-Hebert, Silsbee-Lincoln for a few wanted CURRENT!!

Ok guys there are a lot of legitimate points made here but my question was of current rivalries with a success level of what these two teams have or better. the Dallas rivalries are legitimate contenders and the an Antonio one may be as well. I have seen some of the Dallas teams success not familiar with those of SA. But have any of these met in the regional finals for two straight years possibly about to be a third like HJ Silsbee. It is a question not trying to create an argument.

Both of those should be great games. Not sure if Kountze can quite hang with New Waverly, they gave the Tigers a tough game early on when they hadn't had many games and Kountze didn't. I know the lions have gotten better so I hope they can pull it off.

Three good ones Ozen-Huntsville, Kountze-New Waverly, and HJ-Cleveland. After seeing 5 of these teams at ope point or another I feel that the HJ-Cleveland game would be the best to see. Not sure of Huntsvilles style, so my second choice would be Kountze-New Waverly, however I will be at Silsbee's gam if work permits, just do not feel like it should be as good as these.

Not much response here. So lets ask if there is any district statewide that has had as muh success over the last few years(by more than just one team)? I mean we have had three teams in Austin in 3 years.

I know nothing is a given.. really just giving you a hard time. But I do feel that this game won't be as tough as some think .nn I think Cleveland will crack under the pressure at some point.

Yes thought of that with the last post. But now with H-J basically having home court I didn't figure it was worth talking about.. :-X :-X :-X I mean now ya'll will just kill em.. ;) i mean I almost wish I could be there to see it but I have to see my Tigers.

Hard to say that team was pretty good too not sure it was near as deep though had all american Darrell McArthur his brother Lloyd, Farrell Artis, Delton Harper, Wade Richardson not sure of the other starter although I had just read his name in an article. I seem to remember some quality on the bench but not as many. Some size and speed but still not sure about ncompeting with 98.

Great compliment Spinks. I wish there was a way of truly comparing teams over large spans of time other than just speculation. That team was definately the deepest I can remember seeing. Playing the starters the first 4 minutes of each quarter i believe then the next 5 the next 2 minutes and the last 3 with 2 starters the last 2 minutes. As far as Silsbee teams that one would be hard to argue with, but I would like to know how they would have played with the team that went to state from Silsbee in the 80's.
