Broadcast mentionong La Vega wanting a tough warm up game not simply a team that was going to give them a lead..  No mention of the two games they played last weekend.

Exactly...Yates through open enrollment may only have 3A numbers but they are drawing players from a huge number of students.  It may be legal but its hardly an even playing field.

I remembered him from seeing them 2 years ago. He has definitely worked hard.  But playing him outside is a product of numbers. If he es in Silsbee at that height he would be playing inside.

Maybe so but after sering them this year both numbers and numbers of skilled players play a part. I dont see any of our area teams with enough numbers or skilled players to be able to play a 6'6 player outside.  Especially starting one 6'7 post and a 6'6 player outside with the skills of Santee.

It is numbers of skilled players....a Yates may have 12 skilled players where area schools are usually luck to get 6 or 7.

All these [s]recruits[/s] transfers awaiting eligibility...

And in that same time period half our more of the posts on this thread have absolutely nothing to do with the hj/LaVega game.

I dont know about the 8th gade issue but age is not supposed to be an issuef from other statements. Now the issue seems to be number of years of high school participation. The only statement on the athletic participation sheet pertaining to that states you can bout have enrolled in ninth grade more than fours years prior.

UIL athletic participation sheet states the abovementioned age rule but only states a player may not have enrolled in ninth grade more than four years from year of participation. Nothing limiting number of years eligible. Maybe its there somewhere I haven't found on this phone but not in that sheet

I dont know how strong Argyle or Estacado are. I dont feel Millerif as strong as the others. Clearly if LaVega goes in and wins easily both of our local teams should have had a great shot. Even if they come up on the losing end by a narrow margin, the same case could be true. My question is if LaVega loses, how do you feel the Tigers chances would have been based on their defense. We know hj had the size to match up with all the teams there, but the Tigers didn't.  We had the defense and speed that gave teams fits. If LaVega comes up short would that have been the enough to let the Tigers make up that difference?

Don't know much about the other teams.  Did see where Estacado beat Miller earlier in the year by about 20.  As far as slowing it down against LaVega,  I think that might play right into their hands.  I have seen three of their games and heard plenty about the fourth and they trailed or were in a seesaw game in all of them and won in the end.  I know one little team ran them to death in the first half and heard that they were huffing and puffing.  Keep it up for four and you beat them.  If they do win,  there will be lots of broken hearts in this area, especially if they win two not so close games.

They will win the district congeniality award!

I didn't get to see the regional final. I did stay got the entire hj/vega game but I guess we left to quick to see the dance. Was it for sure the coach our was it a fan? I did seea rather large man coming back into the stands from the court after that game.
