Many of us Tigers thought it would take a perfect . Others said we would get beat by 30 or more. Even others said we had 'NO CHANCE'. These Tigers proved all to be wrong. We definitely had a chance, kept the margin respectable and our shooting kept us far from a perfect night. It was a great job by a very good Tiger team against a very good Yates team.

By the way excellent post jackyateshoops. I for one sat near that tape and conversed with one joy fan and he was very cordial. Admitting to some missed calls against us and saying what a different game it would have been if we shot better and still cheering loudly for his team. Great atmosphere last night.
Was going to post our post and be done. Wasn't going to respond to ANY of the posts, but this one was too funny. Are you serious? You think WE liked the officiating tonight?!! You have to be kidding. The refs SCREWED all (Yates and Silsbee) of our kids. Our SENIOR was one away from fouling out. Majority of our starters also got a lot of bench time because of fouls too. The only difference was we were able to sit our kids for a while. They should never ref a game again. And I hope they DO NOT go to AUSTIN either.
I have wondered since last week, who is the senior. I believe both programs from tonight and last thursday list 3. I knew I had heard it was only 1.
Actually the programs were correct. It was one prior to the football season. #23 is the senior who plays and is in the starting 5. He was the one with the 4 fouls for us. We hate it but when they get 2 or more early, our coach will pull them. I think the refs tonight were the worst I've ever witnessed. I just wish they would have just allowed the kids (both teams) to play.
Yes They weren't very good. I didn't feel they were onesided just not real good. I saw missed calls on both ends. It definitely hurt us a little more, just because of the depth issue. It limited our defensive intensity in the second half. I would have liked to see if we could have kept up the level of play from the first half, but that is basketball. I would like to know what the tech on our #23 was for. I just didn't see anything there. I also saw the missed call on the out of bounds play talked about earlier as well. They also listed Sadiq as a senior on at least one of those I believe. With everyones talk about size, it was your guards that hurt us as far as scoring tonight.
It's kind of funny, a part of me wants my Silsbee Tigers to have another shot at the Lions, but the other part says "thanks, but no thanks". ;) ;D
I know the feeling, I would love to see this team get that chance again but changes could be for the worse. Looking at next year, going into the season Yates would be a big favorite, heck on paper we may be the third place pick in district next year unless Chris gets to play. Then us and HJ may be a toss up for second. Thats just based on what we have coming back.

All in all this game lived up to expectations except for one area anyway. The expected team won. It was a great game. But it was not near the margin of victory that most expected. I am proud of the way the Tigers played tonight. We may not have shot our best, but this was one of the best games we played this year. We have lost our cool many times this year and argued amongst ourselves, tonight we played together. We have attempted things we shouldn't many times this year and tonight we made the right decisions. There is nothing for the Tigers to be down on themselves about tonight. They were simply beaten by the tem that played better tonight. There has been a lot of talk the last couple weeks about Yates not being a good shooting team, but in both of these games against 21-3A they have shot the ball well. Congratulations Lipns and good luck.

Yates used more in the first half than the second it appeared, I am not sure how many in the second half but it seemed more comparable to the Tigers. It looked like the fatigue factor at the end was fairly even. I would say some of those missed 3's were the result of fatigue if we had made some earlier in the game.
The stat you wanted to see Buddy Garrity: per SHSU statistician Yates missed 16 shots in the paint Silsbee missed 28 shots in the paint
Another big difference although lots of those were caused by Yates size there were enough that weren't to have provided a different ending to this game. I know the difference ended up being 15 pts but I felt the true difference was in the 8-10 pt range. We gave up 1 point before tipoff an at least an extra 4 off those late 3's.

Thanks and very classy jackyateshoops. Although I can't say the same as one HJ person did "Yates is the best team we ever played", I can say they are definitely one of the best and deepest teams we ever played. Although height definately played an part, I believe depth was the big advantage for the Lions. Not as far as fatigue, but it was big when we got into foul trouble. When we had two of our big men get 4 fouls, we didn't have those extra big guys to put down low. The Lions took advantage a few times during that stretch. Congratulations on a great game to DeVaughn Thomas, he did great job down low tonight amongst the big guys. Once again the big differences were at the free throw line and behind the arc. If we had made a few more of those( or converte a couple of those missed break opportunities) it would have been a much different game. We wouldn't have had to turn to those late desperation threes, and may have even had a lead late in the game. We knew we needed a great game and we got most of it. We have been streaky shooting all year an tonight wasnt a good one.

We knew we needed a good shooting night and it didn't happen. Free throws or threes yet if we would have been right there in the end if we would have converted a better percentage at the line and a few of those blown breaks. It was only a 8 or 9 pt lead with a minute or two left. Then we started jacking threes and giving them easy fast breaks. A heck if a lot closer than most thought. And if we had made those shots some people's would have seen how bad there NO CHANCE statements were. Our guys had enough energy at the end.
You are right but a couple their guys were facing the other way. And at least two 3 on 1 fast breaks blown.

Ironic point margin there 86hawk. -
That comment was in agreement to the statement that it would be safe to take a child to the game. I was merely stating that if you are worried about an altercation at the game keep your comments or responses to yourself so as not to provoke anyone. It had absolutely nothing to do with making comments on this site!

I the Tigers can play 4 quarters like they played in the first half of both HJ games it will be interesting. -
I have to agree myself and if you want to make sure keep your comments and responses to yourself.

Oh I know that. It is a shame that we win a toss and our chosen location has to be about 2 hours away due to things beyond our control. -
Size is a definite problem, and depth definately can be. However, what happens if the Tigers can keep this game close through at least 3 quarters. If the answer was right, Yates only used 8 maybe 9 players in that first half against HJ when the game was tight. If it stays tight until the fourth qtr, will that be all Wise uses? If it is that is about the same we will use, so in that case will depth still be much of a factor? I know the odds are heavily against the Tigers and there are many different possibilities where we are on the bottom of a lopsided score, but there is at least a few possible senarios where the Tigers can have a chance at the end.

Holding it in a big gym to let everyone in but at a time when it will be hard for most fans to get there, that part doesn't make a lot of sense. I can understand wanting to get the kids back early. -

Is there a second game or why is this game so early?
