  1. I know hopefully something changes and he will be able to play but I think he is worried about hurting it worse. He will definitely be back for basketball..... 😁
  2. Heard that Farr has Dr follow up Wednesday and even if released, he could be gone for the rest of the year.... That will be a huge blow for the Rebels if it ends up that way....
  3. Obviously I'm going to say Evadale wins it but I really feel it is going to be a close district with WH, since they have their 5 starters returning. Not sure who the other guy is talking about when he said a 6'7" player that didn't play football and was waiting for basketball. LOL, my son is a returner to the team and hasn't said anything. They do have a young one that was on JV and then left school and went back to Vidor; he was good on the JV team and was about 6'5". Heard he came back and he could be taller but he hasn't been at the Varsity level yet. His brother was one of the starters last year for the Rebs…. #2 (3 year starter returning) will be running front court again and Farr will be back underneath on the post. Slade and Kirkland back on the wings; so they have got a good core to start with and then a couple of other senior players and underclass man that can play ball. It is all going to be based on how the Coach gels them together for the most dominant squad on the court. #2 and #11 gave teams lots of trouble in the front court last year with handling the ball and shooting. will be a tight one I think in the top 2 spots.
  4. #2 was second leading scorer/ rebounder and assists on team from last year and will be back at the point. He has a couple of good outside shooters with him in front court and Farr will be back underneath with some more height. Some of the younger ones will come around and there shouldn't be any issues with them making the playoffs again.
  5. @NetCat it is going to be a rebuilding year. We have some returners but still love to watch basketball. We have my son and 4 other seniors this year coming from the football team, a couple haven't played since sophomore year, but they were good then. We have a pretty good core returning from last years team, just have to fill #11 spot with all the shot blocks from last year. Coach will make some changes but I think we will be fine. should have some size and height underneath this year, one of the seniors that will be coming from football will be 6'4 Coach will just have to work with him underneath a little on positioning.
  6. I do love football and don't want to rush it but cant wait for Basketball... Going to be an exciting season.....
  7. I still don't think it is going to be close. The freshman QB coming in is going to be a very good one next few years and can play some ball now. He can throw and he can run. Also the running backs they will be using have lots of speed and can also move the ball. the WR's we will have playing can also catch the ball. Only 5 of the seniors playing football play basketball, so we will still have a talented group on the field with lots of speed. Also, just partial to the Reb's….. LOL
  8. I know Farr is out one more week, the other kid that broke his leg is obviously out, I haven't heard anything about our QB, seen him last night at Walmart with another group of our boys and there were no issues. He, my son and a couple of others run together and they all go out to eat every Thursday, team bonding. My son is starting WR & CB and he said nothing about our QB hurt. If he is out it would only be because of my earlier statement that the starters were going to be sitting a lot because didn't want to take chances of anyone getting hurt and that will give them 2 weeks of rest, which is huge. We normally play our lower classman in these games, for experience. The second string QB is a good one and can run and throw, he would be fine if he plays. My son told me first of the week he wasn't going to be starting at CB position this week so he could rest but would be out at WR.
  9. Heard we may not start some of the starters and let them rest. Couple were out 2 weeks and coach wants them ready for next week which will be homecoming. Need to be ready for Colmesneil and Lovelady...….
  10. Good Luck Rebels!!!!! This is going to be a good one tonight...
  11. I know it is crazy..... We sit in the stands and pray no one gets hurt because you can see the energy lost by the end of the game. I know one thing my son will definitely be in condition to go the entire game by the time basketball season gets here.
  12. The numbers are way down. Most kids that have any athletic skill to them aren't coming off the field. My son is one of those that never comes off the field. He gets a break when there is a time out.... I'm with you and feel it is going to be a good game...
  13. I believe it was #66 he received a concussion. The main core of players are all heathy... WR, QB and RB are all good; they were banged up pretty good because took some good shots. Defense is where the hurts have been....
  14. Evadale's #42 middle LB hurt his arm but they are saying he will be back it was a tissue injury rather than any bone breaks or shoulder injury. They did have one boy that went to emergency clinic Saturday or Friday night after the game an was diagnosed with bad concussion. Other than that a few bruises and soreness but will be ready to go Friday night.... Defense has got to step up they are not producing like they should be considering the size they have on the line. Secondary is playing very well. Had 2 interceptions during WH game and one of them was for a 90 yard return but the penalties in the trenches are killing them.
  15. sure would be nice and hope your right... I have faith in the Rebels with the gut and athleticism I have seen them playing at this year. It would be nice for those Seniors to go out this year as district champs....
  16. Well put both Teams got a lot out of it. We as fans always look at games as wins and losses but there is more important things then just the wins and losses before district. It is execution and the coaches have to see if the players are going to execute and how they will execute the plays, even during adversity. When Evadale Coach asked the boys (my son is starting SR receiver) about playing they were all in for it. Some of them thought it was crazy a 2A playing a huge 4A school but they were just wanting on the field to play and then also getting to play on the turf field. I was proud to see them never give up even when the score got lopsided they continued to push through being tired, Hot and worn down. I know our coach walked away from that game knowing that his boys have determination to play at ANY level. Lumberton may not have gotten as much out of it but anytime you can get on a field and run plays and then the coaches watch video of the game you are getting something out of it. Proud of both teams and coaches for putting it together. Like you said for those few hours the boys, fans and coaches forgot about Imelda and got to do what they wanted to do, "Play Ball". After the game told the whole story, Rebel Players and Raider Players stood on the field and off the field talking and taking pictures with one another. Boy, if everyone could have that spirit instead of the attitude of Coaches being crazy and teams getting nothing out of it. To me if we watch how our teams, coaches and players act at the end we would get more out of it. Good Luck to the Raiders and Rebels Teams this Friday night.
  17. I think when Grapeland plays Evadale this week it ends up closer then most people thought it would be. Evadale moved the ball in the air and on the ground against Lumberton last Saturday. They just didn't have the rotation to hang with Lumberton and burnt out quickly, not to mention they played at lunch time on the turf. Top 2 teams in the district hands down will be Grapeland and Evadale; Third will be Lovelady, 4th West Hardin...… my thoughts.
  18. Evadale and Deweyville has been canceled and will be in Lumberton tomorrow 1pm to play. Evadale coaches sent confirmation through Hudle to all players earlier.
  19. Going to the small schools I have been impressed with what Evadale has been doing through the air, The QB has several good receivers and that line has been protecting him to get the passes off. After last year everyone thought because of their running back putting up over 2,300 yards of rushing office that would be the office this year. Well he is putting up large numbers but the passing game has also been putting up the yards. They are looking well early in the season in the air and on the ground. Of course it helps having a line the size they have also. As the season gets moving we will see if they can keep it consistent, if they do I feel its going to be a long season for them. Great job Rebels......
  20. It is going to be a packed house in Evadale for this one. I believe I have seen some of Lamar's Band will be there in the Evadale stands playing loud and proud for those Rebels.
  21. Galveston canceled this game with Evadale on Thursday evening, stating they didn't have enough players. Evadale's next game will be "The River Bowl" against Deweyville in Evadale.
