  1. Just remember that the band paid for that helicopter to dry the field. . . and since neither band will probably be marching on the field tonight, I doubt very seriously that the coaches care if it is a mud pit or not  :)
  2. LCM doesn't charge admission. The fees required to compete go to the UIL. Zero District funds are used to host the event. The only money made for anything associated with LCM is profit made by their band boosters through concessions after expenses. Estimated 20,000 plus attend the event.

  4. Lucas Engineering Building maybe----just a guess. . . that's where the math department is housed (or at least it used to be)
  5. I agree with this post. . . I don't have a dog in the fight so to speak, but I do long for the days when you are taught respect at an early age. If I had EVER said a disrespectful thing about one of my teachers, my parents would have smacked me across the face for it. I was taught to respect my elders particularly my teachers. I don't think that this takes place in most homes these days. Too many times I hear kids say exactly what I know they have heard from one of their parents at home. I know that my parents NEVER said one derogatory word about a teacher (in front of me) and any problems that I had were taken up with me and not the fault of the teacher. Hopefully those of us on here will think about this and remember than everything that we say in front of our children are recorded in their memories and it will come out at some point, so lets make sure that it is a positive rather than a negative comment. It would go a long way and make this world a better place to live. . .
  6. Here is the last part of the halftime performance from 1989. . .
  7. I think that there are lots of people out there that can't wait to see the "Grandest Band in the Land" on the marching field again!!! Here is Big Red from the 1989 football game vs. SFA. . .
  8. They've re-posted the Head Football Coach job -- until filled? What does that mean? Are they not getting who they hoped to?
  9. Did anyone else buy the southlandtv subscription??? If this announcer says FSA once he's said it twenty times!!! Who do they hire for this job??? Couldn't they at least get someone who is familiar with the teams?? ???
  10. That's because they haven't had a football program since 1989. A big reason for bringing back football is to make Lamar more visible and to bring in more students. I didn't say he couldn't coach. I said there's an adjustment period for high school coaches. Lamar doesn't have the luxury of waiting for a high school coach to adjust to the college level. Like Todd Dodge, I never said he wasn't qualified to coach. I was wondering how a high school coach can start a college football program. There's a lot more to it than just coaching. Lamar will be spending millions of dollars to start up the football program, they won't be hiring a high school coach. The job posting specifically states "Collegiate coaching experience required." Therefore, I think we can all quit speculating about all the high school coaches' names that have come up.
  11. I think that we all take for granted the nice facilities that we do have. I made the road trip to San Marcos and the place is a dump compared to the Montagne Center. . . Even their stadium looks awful and they've been using it the last 20 years. The Montagne Center is a GREAT facility and we should be thankful that we have a well thought out agenda for the game. . . the game Saturday was unorganized and high schoolish at best. . . you would have two or three different groups playing or talking on top of each other on almost every time out. They did have a few more students than we normally do at the game but then again they have about 18,000 more students to choose from. The place was far from being packed. . .
  12. Hey Einsteins---It's a COLLEGE Basketball Game, played by COLLEGE Athletes with COLLEGE Cheerleaders and a COLLEGE Band. Get in your cars, drive to Houston, check out the Rockets---you can listen to your radio on the way AND hear canned music at their game. Maybe if Lamar gets football back, they will install some really big speakers and a jukebox or even better, an [glow=red,2,300]ALL KARAOKE [/glow] halftime!!! I'm sure your version of "My Uncle Used to Love Me, but She Died" will be a big crowd pleaser. The NBA would love nothing more than to foster a college basketball environment at their events. I've got a feelin' that playing canned music wouldn't sit too well with the Cameron Crazies at Duke or any other major college basketball arena, so why should Lamar settle for anything less?
