  1. Heck, why don't we just do away with state polls altogether. I mean since Southeast Texas is THE place for 3A baseball and all. Why don't we just have all the other teams in the state hang it up right now? You do realize how big our state is right? 6 or 7 teams from SE Texas in the top twenty? Keep dreaming buddy. By your logic, those 2A teams don't deserve to be there because they can't beat those 3a teams that are ranked. YET, Orangefield got beat by two UNRANKED 4A teams....but according to you they are the fourth best in the state? Please.
  2. You whine about polls more than any other poster I've ever seen on here. They mean squat! Stop crying and let the boys battle it out on the field....where it really matters. :
  3. Johnson and Cloeren are not jv guys. By situation I meant lots of games in just a few days.
  4. Bobcat it's not unrealistic to think that there might be jv pitchers brought up to help out during a situation like this.
  5. I'm curious as to who is pitching as well. Anyone know?
  6. My guess is that OF would beat all three of them......on the same day That might be the funniest thing I have ever heard.
  7. And All Saints Episcopal, Central, Deweyville, Memorial, and Coldspring are the epitomy of baseball powerhouses? I'll give you credit....beating Lumberton a couple times and hanging with Buna is saying something. We'll see how it all plays out come district. That's put up or shut up time. Sounds like someones a little jealous about O-Field getting some love. The Bobcats are for real and might should be ranked even higher. Wow Circle. So the OP points out that some have a "soft" schedule, and I simply point out that OF itself has played some cupcakes. Jealous? I think not. Just stating the obvious. And I'll still hold that it doesn't matter until district starts....and it's going to be battle in their district. But thanks for your comments. :

  9. I could have sworn the original article pointed out how parents tend to make excuses for their kids rather than backing a coach's decision. Why has this turned into 7 pages debating select vs. high school coaches? :
  10. Wow! Haven't even played one scrimmage yet and you are already ripping coaches and players. You dads might want to scroll down a few threads and read the article about parents/coaches. Might prove very insightful to group such as yourselves.
  11. If you have such a problem with it, then go talk to your coach and find out what happened. These awards mean nothing more than a name in the paper. Second team is nothing to be ashamed of. Coming on here solely to promote your kid using two different screen names isn't necessary. Let her play do the talking....she's obviously very talented.
  12. First off, please undo the all caps button. It's not polite to yell. Thank you. Secondly, are you serious? I agree the system can be flawed at time, but to let the players choose? Why don't we just make it a popularity contest and issue crowns and pink spandex to all the girls lucky enough to be voted in? : By the way, the coaches can't even vote for their own players. They can put girls up, but they cannot vote for them. So, are you telling me all the coaches in district 20-4A are favoring other girls over this one girl from Ozen? Please.
  13. That doesn't seem entirely fair to all the other teams that had to WIN to get there, but hey, the UIL doesn't always make the most sense. It does seem like a catch 22. On one hand, you win bidistrict and are automatically in the regional quarters, but at the same time, you have a week in between games and the team you are playing has some momentum. Good luck to all involved.
  14. Why did OF get a bye in the area round? Don't know if I've heard of that before. I know district champs get a bye....but didn't know third place teams did.
  15. : So, stats only count against "tough" teams? Ridiculous. Sounds like they put their second string in....can't help it if Orangefield still can't manage to keep them out of the end zone or get even one first down. Are they supposed to NOT score so they don't hurt someone's feelings?
  16. Wow. That's so incredibly hilarious. But no. I'm not Moody. Just a coach's wife from a DFW area team callin' it like I see it. This thread is a tribute to the mentality of those dads who scream from the bleachers about what a better job they could do. Except that they don't coach for a living.....but they DID coach that peewee team many, many years ago. :-*
  17. What's the point in this thread? Do you actually have any say so whatsoever about who is hired/fired or does it just make you feel better to come on a message board and point fingers? There's still a lot of football to be played, and if your team were on the other end of the win/loss record you're probably the type of guy that would be making posts about how completely wonderful he is. How about this? Why don't we survey your coworkers and ask them if you should be fired? If you have a problem with it, go ask 'em for a coaching shirt, get your a$$ down on the sideline, and see if you can do any better.
  18. Can someone please explain why we have people standed on rooftops and cars and barely get mentioned yet Houston has a skyscraper with some glass blown out and that's what gets the most coverage? >
  19. I think everyone should give Coop a break from the "where do you think this is gonna hit" questions. He's done a fantastic job of keeping everyone updated from this site. We are lucky to have access to a knowledgeable person in a situation such as this. Everyone should keep in mind though the hours that he and the other meteorologists are putting in right now. Thanks for all the input Coop. You're doing a great job. I'm sure every time you get new info you will pass it along...just as you have been doing.
  20. I agree that HF and Silsbee will be fighting it out for the top spot. Bridge City is definitely not as strong as last year, but they are proving themselves so far. They are scrappy, and I can guarantee you that Coach Mathews can instill the kind of "I'm not going to quit" attitude into a team and make them better than what they truly are. OF seems to be improving still, but I just don't get how all of a sudden they get a new coach and people truly believe they will win this district. I think she's a great hire and is definitely making great strides...but it just doesn't happen overnight. If it comes down to OF/BC for third, I think you have to keep in mind that some of those BC girls tasted that long playoff run last year and will be able to handle the pressure. There's a lot to be said for that. Either way it'll be a fun battle to the end like always in this district. Good luck to all involved.
  21. In an ideal world, yes, a women's coordinator can be a great asset, and in most cases, they probably are. There are instances, however, where it isn't done right....which can happen on the men's side too. So, it really depends on who you hire.
  22. How about moving away, not coaching, and still making around $10000 than you were while you were working 80 hours a week and nearly killing yourself? Um....that math was EASY for me.
  23. Rivalry is one thing, but to make a "don't expect it to last that long" comment is just plain sour grapes. : If a Bridge City person questioned an Orangefield girls basketball ranking, you'd be the first to jump all over them. Give credit where credit is due and let the girls do the talking on the court. They don't need you running your mouth on a message board.
  24. Not entirely true regarding sophomores.......... Joshua got a soph outfielder on the team......but he also hit over .600 in district play......I think it just depends on the stats. Congrats to all!!
