  1. WELL................Full Nelson if you look at what ForeverADog's question it states...Which game was worse as far as level of play.  It did not say which game I CALLED MY WORST GAME.....I was trying to keep this in superlatives......The game your  talking about was with Chip Johnson and it goes down as one of my favorite games ever....I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....
  2. ForeverADOG.............Sorry to just now be getting back to your quesstions. I have been gone on business and away from the computer..But here Goes!

    1)  I have never ejected a coach.  I have only given 5 tees to coaches in 17 years....Am I proud of that ....Not really..just always thought if i had to tee a coach up I probably did something to trigger it....

    2)  AS FAR AS MISSING CALLS....every official has good and bad nights..I am no different...I will say I have never called a perfect game...no one has ...I think I get about 90 per cent correct

    3)  WORST GAME-BOYS HAMSHIRE-F VS HUFFMAN....The kids were ugly to each other...we could not get anything right...which made the kids more hostile..just a tough game..BOTTOM LINE...I take the blame for the kids being bad, because my partner and I were out of sinc.

  3. POPPA.......Thanks for the kind thoughts......You and Bleed orange have always kept me entertained and i will miss that after I leave here.  I hope that one day you will come up and introduce yourself to me.  It will probably not be at an HJ game since the two groups don't seem likely to setlle thier differences.  What a shame.  The two chapters  together are very good.  The two chapters apart are very average....LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU

  5. THIS IS SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....The bottom line is that you have two groups of people who have allowed their pride to out shadow their good judgement....once again....and because of this we will have two average chapters in the Beaumont area instead of one good chapter...It should be all about the kids ....but it is not....I have to accept some of the blame along with all the members in both chapters....It should not have been able to happen in the first place....Their will continue to be problems until both chapters realize the reason that we officiate in the first place.......THE CHILDREN
  6. LT. Dangle........

There is a lot of he said she said...we will do this if you will do that....kind of talk going on....I am frustrated with the whole situation, as are many officials.as well as coaches...This will be my last season in the Beaumont Chapter, and I would love for us to get back together....I have missed calling for schools that fall under TASO....I AM MOVING TO DALLAS....and I plan on working in the North Dallas chapter after the first of the year....Stay tuned because when i leave I plan on giving my list of COACHING SUPERLATIVES.
  7. DOVE.....
Was the Ref walking through the players when this happened?  officials know better than to give a kid an opportunity at a cheap shot...We are well aware of the dangers which seem to be more real each year.....What does this lead to? Body armour instead of stripes.....
  8. WELL...I have been waiting to comment until I could read all threads...I had heard that there was some question about the last second shot..so...........................

    1)  Congrats Coach Williams on a fine job...You will finally get the credit you deserve for being one of the best in the area....

    2)  Same to the kids who played....when you put on the stripes  you lose you right to cheer for any team except when they go to state..I was pulling foryou guys all the way

    3) I know it doesn't make you feel any better...but those refs are the best in the state....but being human they make mistakes...hopefully soon they will use video replay in situations like this.

    4) 12 Crews get to Austin..only six get to call on Saturday....These guys were not sent packing...however...they will be reviewed by other REFS...and that determines who gets the championship games.

    5) IF THEY MISSED THE CALL NO ONE FEELS WORSE THAN THEY DO
  9. WELL.................I guess everyone is finished with the topic....Lt. Dangle...could you please show me in the rule book where it says that an official cannot stop play to see after an injured player....Dr. Baden....you are correct....If I had to do it over again I would still do the same....Ask yourself.....What if it were your child out there bleeding on the floor?...Would it make any difference?

Thanks to all of you that responded....I hope you all have a great new year!!!
  10. I had something happen Friday night I have never seen in my 17 years of officiating.  Please tell me what the right call is in this situation....

Team A has control of the ball and has an outlet past for a fastbreak.  Team B has a player in the backcourt who falls and hits her face on the floor.Team A has the ball at the division line when Coach from team B says my player is bleeding.  I look up and Team B has a player bleeding in the backcourt.  I blow the play dead as soon as I see the child bleeding from the mouth.

Team A's Coach says you can't blow the play dead It is against the rules.  She is extremely irritated that we took away a possible break a way lay-up.  I told her that no matter what the safety of the children had to come first.

So...................Who is right?  Should I have held my whistle?....or was I justified in killing the play at that time?
  11. Sorry I have been AWOL.....jUST SAW THIS........First of all it is not a UIL rule.....It is a National Federation Rule....The intent of the rule is to see that all players who are going to play in the next quarter check in before the horn....NO ONE IS FORCED TO PLAY OR START THE NEXT QUARTER BASED ON THE FACT THAT THEY WERE IN THE GAME IN A PREVIOUS QUARTER.  Just trying to see that all players properly check in.I hope this clears this up.
  12. Well...I had the pleasure of knowing Josh when he played for Lumberton....I officiated many games he was involved with.....Josh is very competitive and I think the people of Deweyville are in for a real treat

Josh was the best friend of a young man that dated my daughter.. He was always cordial and Polite.  My favorite Josh line to this day is when he first walked into my home.  He said "Nice House...What no big screen?"..I think the girls will be well suited to Josh Mitchell ball.. I wish Mel Hammerly the best...A great coach and player.
  13. CONGRATULATIONS CAROL..................Everyone knows what a great Coach you are.  What they don't know is what a wonderful person you are...Many of you know that my 30 year old daughter is suffering from breast cancer....One of her biggest supporters is someone she has never met....That person is Carol Sims...You see as soon as Carol found out about Kelly's illness she immediately started praying for her....and has not stopped....Carol I will always remember you for the dignity and respect you have always treated me with, but most of all I will remember your kindness to my family

BILLY...........I appreciate your support of your sister...Everyone should be fortunate enough to have a brother like you....Your positive insight on this site is always welcomed...there are many who could take a lesson from you..

    GOD BLESS BOTH OF YOU
