  1. A very competitve series.  An unsatisfactory finish for WB.  Austin Swindle pitched extremely well in all three games pitching 7 1/3 innings over three games only giving up three runs and nine hits while striking out five.  Also Swindle had a hit in game 3 after being thrust into the batting order.  Another notable is Aaron Bender who picked up the win in game 2 and came in and finished game 3.  He threw 6 innings over two games and gave up three runs and only three hits while striking out five or six.  A good performance by the senior pitching staff of the Bruins.  Also notable was the Bruin defense who played extremely well the entire series.  Im sure HighQualityBP will give a wonderful write up with much more detail.

  2. There is no dispute that BH is the best team in the area this year.... but to say that it makes sense to judge upon district standings when not all the teams are in the same district... who knows how the game would turn out if every one of these teams played each other....  to me it would make sense to also judge upon strength in schedule in district perhaps... which may knock brook up a few ranks due to losses to teams in the top 10 in the greater houston area .. especially in 5a.... but also i cant contradict myself because who knows what the game would turn out to be... but unless there is a local tournament which consisted of all the teams on this website.. who knows... until then lets be smart and consider all outside forces such as strength in schedule and also add in their record but dont forget the quality of teams they play

  3. That's the thing 643.  The Barbe hitters got hit a lot during the tournament because no matter where the pitchers threw they still didn't back off the plate.  I guess to end this argument I will say that a hitter takes away the inside part of the plate when a pitcher cannot effectively throw inside.  When a high school pitcher has so good control that he can spot up on the inside black against a nationally ranked team then you are right and the hitters do not take away the inside part of the plate.  By the way congrats to the PNG pitchers for pitching so effectively.

  4. By crowding the plate it makes it much more difficult for a pitcher to effectively pitch inside.  Sure you are right about hammering the inside black, but i think the pitchers did that in the games against Barbe at the tournament, especially PNG since they came out victorious.  You seem to forget, Tom House, that this is high school baseball and unlike the major leagues pitchers aren't going to be 100% accurate.  I'm sure that Bender attempted at hammering the inside but it was just a night where he was wild.

  5. I always find it interesting that Westbrook always schedules PNG to play the 8:00 am game on Saturday and the last game at 5:00 against Westbrook.  I guess when you host the tournament, you get to make the rules.

Im sure West Brook scheduled PNG that way just to provide an inconvience for the PNG players and parents.

  6. Fazio really struggled against PNG. I like the top 10. The only change I would make is move PNG ahead of Westbrook. PNG looks to have solid #2 and #3 starter's with Todd and Carnahan.

Admin was simply giving him some props and then ranked the Kelly team 9th.  Fazio was 88-90 this weekend and looked really good.

Fazio did not struggle against PNG. This comes from both sides, the umpire did the struggling.

...and I am right there with you Terrier, I think PNG has a better team than Westbrook at this point.

Westbrook looked very young and very small.

West Brook looked pretty good to me last night beating Nederland 18-4

  7. West Brook played well against Nederland.  West Brook scored 10 runs.  Todd Wallace hit a solo home run off Sampere in the first. West Brooks lineup has improved throughout the duration of the scrimmages.

Jordan Soper started for West Brook and threw the first inning and got out of a bases loaded jam after giving up two runs.  Bender then pitched two solid innings followed by Svoboda for another scoreless two.  The rest of the pitching staff looked solid, and should be solid throughout the season.

  8. thank you donkey... i totally agree with you... and about the barbers hill pitchers taking several spots on the local "preseason area team" as of now they deserve it... and who cares if theyre forty min away... they have always been on here. but the fact is that it is a pre season team so any commotion is unofficial ... so please wait until the season winds down to get worked up.. and surely by then there wont be any foggy waters due to the players stats and success against legit teams
