  1. Does anyone have update on Jace Statum's injury? Hope it's not serious and he'll be back very soon!
  2. Luke R. and Dylan M. get very little recognition, especially in BC's local paper, but they are both solid at the plate and both are great defensive players.
  3. That was great! My daughter does the stats in the booth for Dave South (for the past several years) and says he and his wife are some of the nicest people she has ever known. And there is nothing like the spirit of Aggieland and my favorite games have been when we beat tu.......................it was wild! Guess if someone has never been there, it's hard to explain but the spirit is like nothing else I have ever seen! Whoop!
  4. With all the talk and hype of the new player, it will be interesting to see him pitch and to see how he is going to fit into the scheme of things in the BC lineup! Hope the rain does not wash this one out!
  5. Probably a smart move considering the forecast! Any other moves for the area (BC/WOS)?
  6. I agree! Lots of emphasis put on these rankings .............. teams need to take one game at a time, take care of the business at hand! Just how are these rankings calculated anyway? Is it the win/loss record, does who you beat or lost to play into the formula, etc?
  7. They deffinantley need to get it taken care of by next friday at Orangefield, heck we better even watch out for the Mustangs Tuesday if we keep playing like we are, Can't take any games for granite if we plan on making it to Austin this year... That's for sure! I thought the first game this week was just one of those games that every team has, but tonight when they played the same type of game, made me wonder what's going on with them! And you are so right, Orangefield seems to have their whole team contributing and they seem to be on a winning roll, and WOS under Jesse are getting their act together, so BC can't take anybody in this district for granted and if they want to do something post season, they need to get it together quick! I know they are a good team, but they aren't showing it right now. Hope they step it up a notch or two in the next game! I have and always will have a lot of respect for the BC baseball program. They have proven year after to year that their formula for success works. When the BC fans get on here on talk down the team after a win, it shows a complete lack of respect for the opposing team. You won, why make the comments that you do. Saying how poorly we played and how we need to get our act together after a win says what about the team you beat? Think about it... Everyone on this site knows that Silsbee has a young talented team. Coach Trawhon does a tremendous job with this program and they will continue to get better. BC will continue to play well and I wish them success. However, with each win or loss, they have done nothing to lose mine or anyone else's respect for what they are capable of doing. First of all, I was not disrespecting the Silsbee team in any way and I am very sorry you read it that way. And my point was yes, they are a young team as was HJ, and BC fields mostly seniors and several juniors and they are not showing that they are an experienced team. And with all the hype surrounding BC and post season play, maybe they have gotten too comfortable in that way of thinking and if that is the case, one of these young teams will wake them up. And I did not say I don't respect them, nor did I want anyone else to lose respect. Guess I should have said, "Excellent game, you played great, and will be a state contender". But, that was not what I saw and was just making a comment on how I thought they looked. Didn't mean to step on anyone's toes or hurt anyone's feelings with saying what I thought they need to improve on.
  8. Jacob Felts OF has this one hands down!

  10. BC won but the last two games have been nerve racking to watch! They seem to be very sluggish and as Treasurer said, need to get agressive at the plate and at times the fielding is sloppy! I hope they can get all the kinks worked out soon................just do not seem to be playing up to their potential and that might jump up and bite them if they aren't careful.
  11. Prayers from Bridge City for the young girl and her family and friends.
  12. To get back on track here: Welcome Caleb (I believe someone said that was his name) to Bridge City! Don't care why you came, how you came here, etc, just would like to say I hope you like it here, and enjoy BCHS and Cardinal Athletics! Good luck in the baseball season!
  13. How about you give us his shoe size, cereal that he eats for breakfast, his mom's maiden name, and what make of vehicle that he drives because this is the only thing you haven't talked about yet. I'm tired of hearing about BC. Especially one player, talk about the team as a whole. Even if they lose, there is always an excuse They're good but not in the pro's yet (21-3A everyone doesn't have to hype up what they do) Take five minutes and think about something besides BC. (everyone) If you don't like BC or hearing about them, it's a funny thing that you would waste your time coming onto this particular thread, much less post about it. Sounds like you or your team might have been spanked before by the Cardinals and you have a little bitterness towards them! I hope these boys make lots of noise in the area and you then will have to go stick your head in the sand in order not to hear about them. I just think that yall need to get off of one person and leave him alone for a while. And as for you, stick your head underwater and breathe. You are the one that made the comments above and it's alot more than leaving one player alone, you were making statements about being tired of hearing about BC and how they make excuses if they lose. Again, if you are sick of hearing about them and think they are hyped up, why are you reading something posted about them? That makes alot of sense. And while your head is buried deep in that sand, inhale slowly. ;D Well if i'm not mistaking, when President Hicks left yall standing on the field crying all alone, everyone from BC suddenly started doubting the future of the team. All of a sudden he's back, and we have a chance. Get some more people that actually have talent, that way tears will be saved if he ever leaves yall again. You really are clueless aren't you? First of all, if you knew anything at all about baseball, you would know what an asset Matt Hicks is, and I am sure any team in the area would love to have him on their team. And these boys for the most part have been playing ball together since they were 5 years old and when Matt moved, I think they didn't want him to go because their good friend was not going to be there besides losing a key player on the team. Not sure anyone was crying on Cardinal field, or doubting the future of the team, because the team is loaded with talent with several others not making the varsity team that probably would in any other town around. Do I detect alot of jealousy in you calling him "President"? Did that make you feel better, lol? And if you want to see actual talent, come on out to Cardinal field, I believe there are 20 something guys on varsity, all of which have talent and class..................you might learn something from any one of them about friendship, talent and teamwork. Oh, and by the way, it's just Matt Hicks and remember that name, you'll be hearing it for years to come I believe!

  16. Their record speaks for itself but I think the main thing about WOS is Coach Dan Hooks. He has some outstanding athletes to work with certainly, but where he is smart is knowing where to put these athletes to make the TEAM the best it can be and that puts him heads and shoulders above alot of coaches in the area. I don't think he plays any political games with his boys and from what I hear, the dicipline he demands from his players makes them more of a well put together unit than most. Just my take on WOS!
  17. Have you seen OF play this year? This team is very solid top to bottom and all hitters 1-9 can make things happen at the plate and we have 5 very capable pitchers we can put on the mound any given night. And just for your information, I would be very happy with a second place finish in this district. Although we are shooting for a district title (and a state title for that matter) 2nd place isn't bad. I promise you we have a great deal of respect for the Bridge City program and tradition and you won't see any OF fans on here talking smack on the Cardinals. Why can't you do the same and just let it all play out? P.S. I know this one poster does not represent the community of BC. There is great mutual respect between the two teams and communities. I have seen OF play and I don't think the BC team and coaches take them lightly. I know most of these players personally and do not think the attitude 4life has is in any way represents the way they think of the OF team. I know these guys always look forward to playing OF in all sports because of the closeness in our communities and they all have friends on the opposing team. And 4life....................you sound like certain HJ posters that get on here and make idiots of themselves and make other schools dislike them..........please don't do that to the students of BC that are on these teams and like to represent BC with dignity! Do the talking on the field if you are a player!
  18. Thanks Gabe, I thought Matt and Forrest were the only two that pitched, but thought maybe I missed an inning or something!
  19. Our son started playing select ball at age 9, played until he was 13, we spent thousands on traveling all over the US for tournaments, hitting lessons, catcher lessons, etc. He was on a team that won a world series and played in the Elite 16 in Orlanda, Fla. BUT, got burned out at 13 and played Pony then was on the varsity team as a Sophmore. My point is, he was a catcher and pitcher through the years in select and then Pony, but he now is an outfielder. So the lessons and all that didn't determine what he would play when he reached high school. I believe the experience of traveling and playing all over was great for him, but if you asked him, he would take his high school coach over the select coach anyday.
