my son graduated last year and played varsity for 2 years as a starter, one of the things that always got to him was the grabbing while cutting thru the paint ( hanging on so hard as to pull out the uniform) and hand checking, we were told that was going to be called?? didn't`t happen. Any response

I've realized that High School parents can be cut throat.  I think this is a shame.  First off Travis is an awesome coach, overall great guy, and motivates atleast 20 teenage boys to strive to be thier best.  The HJ coach also must do this because he has some hardware in his cases to show for it also.  Now I was always taught that everyone is equal, be it your color, creed, or nationality.  To blame either of these two men with the stuff i've read is crazy.  Color didnt win that game in Silsbee last week, determination did,  HJ boys wanted that game more  than Silsbee that night.  Was they talking down thier coach then?? Doubt it.  And all that talked Travis down last week are you trashing him tonight with the win. Doubt It!  We as parents need to sit back and let things play out.  Yes every parent wants thier child to succeed you would be a bad parent if you didnt, but why tear other people down to achieve that.  Why cant we say lil johnny's shooting was off, or they shut us down , or even my child just  had a bad night.  It should be an honor for our kids to represent thier school, expecially with thier talent, but we as parents WE should also honor them and thier coaches for what they have ACHIEVED not what they did or didnt do or what color kid played or who didnt.  The coaches play who they think will make them win and it hasnt been a problem obviously  because both teams are winners.  Let them do thier jobs, heck they couldnt be doing it tooooo bad with the records they have between the two of them.  Anyways i'm sorry for the kids whose parents belittle everything they work for just to blame others.  Win as a team, lose as a team.  And parents we have an option as adults.....If we dont like it we dont gotta go there , be there, or enjoy thier success while they are there. Keep up the good jobs both coaches and KIDS, have fun....  And Silsbee lets all the way this year...

Dickey V, it sounds to me like you don`t like the folks from SE Texas very much. Maybe leaving would be the next option??? As to the question in this thread, it really doesn't`t matter if Ozen knew or not, the UIL/TEA will step in and rule on this if it warrents, suspension or forfits of games? I hope for Willie`s sake that he has learned that choices that you make will determine the rest of your life. Like it or Not.

This Nederland team can fool you into thinking they have what it takes to be the best team in the district, they play like that for a quarter... then you realize they're gonna finish 4th out of 8 teams.

I think that this should be one of the best District games in a long time. I think that Central will squeak by 3. Both teams have something to prove in this game. Should be a battle.

Great win for the Kelly Bulldogs! This just proves that the game must be played to determine the final outcome. The one thing that can never be discounted is the amount of HEART that a player or players bring inside the lines.

a few years ago Vidor beat Ozen in district and still Ozen won the district, until someone else can step up and beat them in district play you have to give the top spot to Ozen, from there it is up for grabs and anything goes.

What a joke....It's a wish..not bashing, but only a thought. No cursing was done and speaking out of feeling about the officiating..officials and uil authorities should find something else to do, I've noticed lately that some officials have a little chip on their shoulder....Let me say this, we have to have officials ,but the officiating in our area needs some serious improvement.  We have a handful of quality officials, but our bmt. chapter has real issues.

Gardiner and Lott were killing us, but I have to say you guys did well as a team at the plate.  I believe you definately have respect from the district.  You've played some tough ball this year..

Thanks VPirate.  I have been so disheartned by our loss to you guys, I failed to say congratulations and good luck in the playoffs.  I think you guys have an awesome ball club, and an outstanding Head Coach (arguably the best in this district).  IMO you guys don't get enough respect in this district by other top teams.  Although I hate that you guys came out the winners against us last night, the better team overall pulled off the win as they should have.  That is what good coaching and ball playing will result in.  Good luck guys, and I will be pulling for you all in the playoffs.

My prediction, the Orange County neighbors look out for each other, Vidor intentionally walks in the winning run, LCM wins 3-2, Nederland stays home. ;D

well from what my son said, he was at the game, Vidor had several errors also, that's what really hurts, because these kids play their hearts out, someone has to win and someone has to lose. Go Pirates. Good luck Friday
