  1. I've had the chance to see all the Lumberton games this year since my son is a senior and plays on the team. After every game I have beamed with pride as the team that no one expected much out of, continued to prove them wrong week after week. Last night as a parent...I couldn't have been prouder. Our boys took on a team that was bigger, faster, stronger and just as well coached as they were and fought right up until the bitter end, just the way champions are supposed to do! They did it with style, they did it with heart and they did it with ''CLASS''! After the game, though heartbroken and teary eyed , they kept their heads up and lined up and marched across the field to congratulate the victors demonstrating a level of class that's beyond commendable. Waller fans, players and coaches matched our class act ounce for ounce. Though they had to be ecstatic, they maintained the level of professionalism that they displayed throughout the entire game.  If we were to fall, we fell to a fine football team backed by first class fans...my hats off to Waller and best of luck to you guys against future teams. For the few hundred 'fans' that left early, you cheated yourselves. You left thinking you had seen the fall of the Mighty L-Train. For the thousands of ''FANS'' that stayed and cheered, screamed, sang, shook hands, hugged necks and wiped tears,we saw the truth...not the ''fall'' of the Mighty L-Train but the ''rise'' of a true champion spirit, that my friends, is what you get ...when you truly ''BELIEVE''! LUMBERTON RAIDERS....SALUTE!  God bless each of you!

  3. Thanks for the kind words about how our PNG players conducted themselves after our loss. Losses are so hard to take.  I think even harder to take the closer you are to the players.  These are all life lessons and as with most life lessons they need to be taught from a very early age.

As an educator and a parent I believe sportsmanship should be taught by parents from the time our little ones get interested in sports or any competition.  I remember a very tough loss to a tough WOS team back in 1999.  My oldest son was in first grade and our neighbor was on that PNG team.  As we began our walk to our car after the game my son was angry and hanging his head.  I promptly stopped walking and told him to look up at the PNG pressbox.  I told him the words up there are not there just for decoration.  You're a PNG Indian and you will hold your head up high and show your PRIDE no matter if we win or we lose. The players did their best so be proud of them. You will act with HONOR which means being humble when you win and being respectful when you lose. You shake your opponents hand and say "Good game!"   That way our TRADITION will continue to be worthy of being passed down.  He's now a freshman at PNG and I'm proud to say that I think our TRADITION is in good hands and will be for years to come.

Thats awsome, just so happens I had that same talk with my L-Train son this very season only we were leaving the PNG stadium. (that was the '1' in the 11-1) PNG shows sportsmanship in the 'L' column as well as the 'W'. Congrats on a great season guys!

  4. LOL YA I KNOW I WISH THE WHOLE TOWN WOULD GO TO OUR GAME.. ALL OF 2085 OF US KVILLIANS.. HAHA

I graduated from  K-Ville back in 85...last week at Stalworth Stadium it hit me...there were more people in the homeside stands at that game than LIVED in the whole city of Kirbyville when I graduated ...although Cat stadium was packed when we beat Stephen F Austin in 84 ...but not till after half time lol

  5. I'm with you man, from now on when I think of La Marque I wont think Speed, Power, Pass or talent, two words will come to mind from now on ...NO CLASS. Starting in the parking lot, when the LM busses came rolling in . My wife and were sitting in the gas guzzling, politically incorrect, much painted up with Raider pride suv enjoying some tailgated boudan (which was great btw...super job guys!) Many of the LM player were pressing their faces against the windows of the busses, sticking out the tongues and yes, the classic ''Hawaiian Peace Sign'' was spotted more than once. During pre game warm ups the players taunted the Raider stands, during the singing of the Lumberton school song the LM mascot, the mascot...THE MASCOT!...held his nose and made hand gestures to the Lumberton crowd! Fifteen penalties for 150 yards against LM reflects their actions on the field. After their defeat, half the team as well as the coaching staff walked off the field instead of doing the customary handshake. I'm a parent of a kid that plays for Lumberton and if I had seen this kind of display from our kids and coaching staff I would be at the next school board meeting completely flipping out! Players represent the coaches, coaches the school, the school represents the city.  My friends in La Marque, you have very good reason to hang your heads this morning...and its not because of the final score.  Oh, by the way....WAY TO GO L-TRAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
