  1. Come on now Guys...what did you expect??? We sent word when they started practice in June ;)
  2. Yes you are right, Bhop being World class at the age of 46 is very impressive.  But I'm not too interested in this one because Hopkins seemed to avoid fighting Dawson until dawson lost a fight and seemed vulnerable so now Hopkins wants to fight.  And like any Hopkins fight, this may not be a fan friendly fight especially when you consider the fact that Dawson likes to move and counter.  It's definitely an interesting fight though and I can see either guy winning, just not as excited because there may not be much action.  I hope they have a good undercard especially since this one is  a PPV
  3. There is no doubt that interest in boxing has fallen in the USA than previous decades.  However, to say that the sport is dead is a common myth among those who are uninformed.  Every time a Klitschko fights in Germany, they sell out huge soccer arenas.  Even in the USA, where the sport is supposedly "dead" the fans flock in to see Pacquiao.  At the young age of 21 Saul Alvarez packs the house in Mexico,  and will continue to do so for many years to come.  Juan Manuel Marquez also packs the house among the hispanic populations.  Miguel Cotto draws huge numbers in New York and in Puerto Rico.  Amir Khan is also a huge attraction in the UK and is starting to become popular in the USA. For boxing fans, 2011 has been a great year providing action packed fights such as Victor Ortiz shocking the boxing world in a war with Andre Berto, Brandon Rios also becoming a big draw here in the states with his action packed fights in two slug fests this year.  Erik Morales making an outstanding and shocking comeback in his brave showing in his close loss vs Marcos Maidana. These are just a few examples as I don't have time to recap all of the great moments of 2011 so far.  Mayweather-Ortiz as well as a couple of the undercard fights have great potential as does the Pacquiao-Marquez ppv and Cotto-Margarito ppv later this year.  There have been many great free cards on showtime and HBO as well this year.  It was also a great season of espn2 Friday night fights this year with many great fights and huge upsets. Not bad for a "dead" sport :o
  4. I'm not really interested in this fight as hopkins knows adamek has an easy style for him and he just wants to win another title at a different weight class. can't say i blame hopkins because it's smart. But I don't think the fight will be too competitive unless adamek's power and strength gets to hopkins which I don't see happening.
  5. Just got back from the toyota center and there were some great fights! In the main event, Marquez pulled out a dramatic come from behind 9th round KO in an action-packed fight While Chris John retained his title by having a draw with houstonian Rocky Juarez. The venue was packed and there were great fights! Both Juan Diaz and Juan Manuel Marquez are great fighters and have a lot of class. I hope they both do well in the future
  6. if kessler isnt a level then neither is adamek. he is on the same level as adamek in their respective weight classes. robin reid and chris eubank may not be a level today but they were at the time calzaghe beat them. manfredo might not be a world beater but hes on the same level as all of other dawson's wins. bika is about like a glen johnson they are both rugged and tough but with limited skills anyways. But yeah Juan is always in exciting fights, he's got tons of heart and always brings the fight. Marquez' skills are phenomenal. It's going to be exciting Hopefully Juan can pull it out! ;D Rocky can make things a bit more boring but his fight should be interesting too as his opponent chris john is unbeaten and has a win over Marquez who diaz is actually fighting.
  7. I'll be there! I can't wait! Diaz has his work cut out for him, as does juarez! You going?
  8. If Dawson was to rematch anyone it should be Glen Johnson as it was more competitive than the Tarver fight. Adamek is a strong tough fighter, and dawson did box his ears off. Adamek's skills are limited though. but HOF?? none of those 3 you mentioned are HOF fighters. Tarver is the closest one but he was old and past it. The same reason you criticize joe for beating jones and bhop can be applied to dawson. Just a few calzaghe notable names are bhop jones, lacy, kessler, manfredo, bika, omar sheika, and robin reid, and chris eubank. Dawson doesn't compare to calzaghe yet but in time he certainly may.
  9. Joe really had no reason to fight in the US. He was doing fine and making money in europe. If someone wanted to fight him they could just have easily made the trip to europe. Roy Jones has never fought outside the United States. Glen Johnson can make anyone look ugly and joe probably felt he could make better paydays with less risks. Like it or not thats boxing it's risk vs reward. Calzaghe spent his career at super-middle and only recently moved up to light heavy. you make it sound like chad dawson has been around calling joe out forever. Also I don't think Taylor-Calzaghe would be very competitive. Taylor wouldn't have what it takes down the stretch. While I agree that would be a great fight with Dawson, Joe really has nothing left to prove. Dawson has better wins than joe already? are you serious or just biased? Dawson has potential to be great I'll give him that. But who is his best name? An old tarver? He was also set to fight tarver again(why????!!!!) but i recently heard dawson suffered a fractured hand in training. It's just like mayweather. or lennox lewis making a comeback Who wouldn't love to see mayweather him fight Pac if he beats Hatton? Or fight Margarito or Cotto if they hadn't have just lost. But Mayweather really doesn't have anything left to prove. Nor does JOE.
  10. Right. you can say lacy was one dimensional now that it's all said and done but at the time of the fight the majority of american boxing media were on the jeff lacy bandwagon. It's easy to badmouth fighters sitting from the outside. You can talk about how hopkins is old all you want, but after losing to Calzaghe, Hopkins CLEARLY outboxes Kelly Pavlik who was previously unbeaten. Even today's Hopkins can beat many top fighters. oops ur right in that Calzaghe beat Lacy by decision, but as i recall it was a brutal beating and Calzaghe even dropped Lacy. How are you going to say Calzaghe is ducking Pavlik and taylor when Taylor lost to Pavlik who lost to hops who lost to none other than calzaghe??? Abraham is more one dimensional than Lacy, yet you claim that he was ducked by calzaghe? Chad Dawson wasnt even a big name until recently. Dawson opted for a rematch with Tarver. Who really wants to see that? Calzaghe fought the best it's just the division he dominated didn't really have big names. as far as you calling me out in boxing, I've forgot more than you'll ever know. You probably barely know the difference between a left hook and a base hit. Stick with baseball. ;D Although I do admire the fact that you're a boxing fan.
  11. Calzaghe brutally TKO'd Jeff Lacy who was highly touted at the time and many expected Lacy to beat Calzaghe. Before Calzaghe stopped Lacy, Lacy was supposed to be the next great thing.
  12. who yall got on dec 6th? definitely the biggest fight in boxing in a really long time! Can't wait!
  13. For those interested in checking out some good scraps this saturday's card on hbo championship boxing should be a great one with ricky hatton vs paulie malinaggi as the main event which is a grudge match and on the undercard brian vera vs james kirkland should be an explosive brawl.
  14. Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton Not only a great fighter, but a great guy with a great sense of humor ;D
  15. Monday night the Lonestar Junior Football League Sr. Division Champs, the Deweyville Pirates, traveled to West Orange to take on the STJFL Senior Division Champs, WOS Mustangs. After one overtime period and 5 fumbles the Deweyville Pirates still managed to hang on 26-25. GO LONESTAR!
