Coach McFarlin said "non-school leagues should not allow their seasons to overlap with school sports." Football coaches are so hypocritical. I will be willing to bet that Whitehouse football participates in 7 on 7 football during track and baseball season.

Almost all coaches announce to their kids in the spring that "if you don't go through offseason, you will not play here". Many coaches lose the respect of their players in the following fall when they let kids that were in attendance of that speech suit up to take the field. I have seen it time and time again. I applaud these coaches for having the guts to make this decision. Most have the "win at all cost" attitude that allows them to overlook the fact that respect will be lost.

You are probably right. If you take away his play at SS and his offense he might not be pitcher of the year. Some better candidates would probably be (top 10 in no particular order): 1.Treece 2.Schooling 3.Hales 4.Listi 5.Thamms 6.Svboda 7.Dewey 8.Flores 9.Harrington 10.Dean (if you want to inlude New Caney he would be 1st no doubt)

You are correct. PNG finishes 2nd just an eye-lash away from first and Central the 6th place team has more people on this team. Must have been more than just the players. I will say it must be coaching. Great job Coach Stone. Central has better players than you and yet again you had a great year. ;)

I spoke to Nederland coaches and it was not suppose to come out until next week as a courtesy extended each year to the teams still playing and to give the Coaches a chance to tell their own players and congratulate them first. But there is always someone to piss in the cheerios. I know ours is tonight and I don't think they will be released until at the earliest next week. May hold off until the other teams are out of the playoffs.

Give us a more real example of who you think the MVP is. It is kind of like Kobe Bryant not winning the NBA MVP. Everyone agrees he is the best player and leads the league in scoring, but others have helped their team achieve more. I can't think of any instances where it shouldn't be the best player on the best team.

True, Mr. Ump. There were several outstanding jobs done this year only to fall just a bit short of the playoffs. Central and Nederland both come to mind.

My prediction is this site will have 9 coaches of the year. High Island-First year did a great job LCM-District champs 1 returner Vidor-First playoff birth Jasper-Took crown from BC Nederland-Got back in it after a terrible start WB-1st district title in a decade, very tough district PNG-all new pitching staff still got second Buna-Almost undefeated HJ/Silsbee-who ever gets in for getting through such a tough district.

I say we should fined a way to give all people from Westbrook one big hug. They seem to have a self esteem problem that is centered around newspapers of all things. As far as true baseball people more of them are on this board than read the papers and you guys get plenty of ink on this website. Probably more than anyone. Which is deserving because you are probably the best team this year. Which is why no one else is on here whining about it. So please just relax. As to the topic. It is crazy that not one team has a playoff spot clinched yet and may not until the last game in either district.

What are you talikng about big dog? All TAKS tests are being given on the same day across the state at the same time of day. A 4:00 game is no different than a 4:00 practice.

So are WOS, OF, and a hundred other schools not taking the TAKS test?

If WOS and OF can play today, why can't Vidor and Dayton? I went to the UIL website and read the rules on make up games. The next availible date for WOS and OF was Monday. Why is the next availible date not Monday for Vidor and Dayton? Although our local districts chose to play Fri/Sat, many districts in Texas chose to play Thurs/Sat. With Thursday being an option for some schools in Texas, why is Thursday not the next availble date for these two local teams?
