  1. ???  i'm confused now.  HF needs to make up their mind.  an earlier post stated the reason the player used the language he did was because Landry taught him that.  now it's being said he used that language because he was hit in the head.  could it be that maybe it's just a lack of respect on the player's part?  nah, couldn't be that.  HF never disrespects....

See now I'm not the same person that blamed Landry for the foul language, so don't even compare that quote to mine. You don't even know that kid, I do and had it been someone else other than him, I might not even argue with you, but this kid is NOT the type of kid to speak to adults or anyone else for that matter in that way. And I clearly said I was not making excuses for him, just stating a fact about the kid.

  2. I wasn't at the softball game, so I have no idea what agenda you are speaking of, but maybe you are right about that, I don't know but to say I don't know the rules?? Really now...did I even state that fact? I think all I said was that there was a difference in the UIL rules and the district rules, and yes, that is a fact. I simply commented that the question was which rule over ruled the other, I mean do you know? I'm not being rude or sarcastic, I'm being serious...do you know which would over rule the other? Apparently, neither the umpires or our AD knew, and I do know that an AD could not over rule UIL and/or District rules, hence the meeting.

I would think the district rule would overrule the rule used by the UIL simply because if it didn't then why would the UIL let the districts set their own rules for this kind of situation. If the UIL rule would be the one used then there would be no point in the districts setting their own rules in the first place.

Well, that makes sense and I guess we all find out on Monday. Thanks for the input!

  3. I have been reading this thread and have had no desire to respond; however, after the absurd post by HFmom, I feel the need to do just that.

Apparently HFmom doesn't know the true meaning of sportsmanship.  EVERYtime a BC player is already on base or in the batter's box and will be returning to defense, a teammate brings him his hat/glove and carries their helmet/bat back to the dugout.  Your interpretation of someone throwing a bat towards the dugout to be picked up and someone throwing a bat down in frustration is grossly misrepresented.  You, of all people, should know the difference.  After all you witness it at every HF game!!

I cannot believe that you had the audacity to call out a BC player when your HF player told the BC fans "F" y'all".   You know it happened and your first base coach did nothing about it.  Sounds to me like there's a jealous mother in HF.  Why else would you call out a BC player?  And you wonder why HF gets no respect.  After Friday night, you will never have it.

I find it amusing that you think everyone is picking on poor little HF when there's a confrontation everytime HF plays a team in the district.  Sounds to me like HF is the common demoninator.  HF has lost all respect from every team in the district and rightly so.

BC's whistle blowing has been done for 9 games and no one had a problem with it until HF.  You mentioned BC blew the whistle while your boys were batting, right?  Well, wouldn't that be the same time the BC pitcher was pitching?  Where's the discrimination in that?

Your AD was there with an agenda after losing to the BC girls softball team.   It was evident at the softball game and he brought it with him to the baseball game.

And yes, you are wrong about the rules.  You don't have a clue.

Let me get this part out of the way...I do apologize for "calling" out a kid on the team. In hind sight I should not have done that, and in all honesty I was not doing it to be rude or to put that kid down...I even said so in my post. He is a great athlete and I respect him for that. The moderator took it out of my post and I have no problem with that and again, I apologize for this misinterpertation of the context. I was simply trying to point out that HF kids are not the only ones who get frustrated, and yes this kid was frustrated and I would guess mostly at himself, as most of the time, that is where the frustration lies. His reaction Friday night was in NO way different than the action of the HF kid who was thrown out for doing the same thing...we could argue that he was throwing his bat toward the dugout as well, so obviously your interpretation of what goes on at HF games is grossly misrepresented.

As far as the kid that said "F y'all" to the BC fans or team in the dugout...do I need to remind you that the kid was hit in the head and went down? He had a horrible time getting up and gathering his wits, he probably should have come out of the game. He thought the fans and the BC team was laughing at him. I am not making excuses for him, but I will tell you this kid is NOT the type of kid who would ever say that to anyone and since the game, he has been diagnosed with a concussion and is out for a week, so I would think that he was probably not in the right frame of mind at that time or he never would have been that rude (and something was said to him and he has been punished because of it).  If you were at that game, then you saw how hard of a time he was having to pull it together.

Jealous mom?? lol No, not at all, I don't even have a child playing at this time, I just know the kids and love the sport.

The whistle blowing...I was also at the BC/HF game that was played in BC and I do not recall the whistle's being blown then. The difference in them blowing it when HF was batting vs. HF pitching, it's called TIMING! Explain to me how a pitcher can release the ball at the same time a batter swings...wouldn't that be swinging too early?? It's all about timing in baseball and that is how the whistle was being used to distract HF. And just to let you know, BC fans are not the only ones who have been told by the umps to put away a noise maker that was causing distractions. OF complained about some type of noise maker HF had and those fans were told to put it away and did, without ANY confrontations.

Again, I am sorry for "calling" out a BC player. I do regret that and no matter what you think, I wasn't puposely doing that. If I had a kid that played, and he or she was called out on the forum, I would be upset too, and cannot apologize enough for my lack of judgement.

  4. It's Coach MAHAFFEY...not Mahassey! I can't belive no one has corrected that yet?

H-F once had respect from others in our district and area?? Seriously?? When?? Please tell me...my kids have been involved in H-F sports for years out here and I never remember anyone giving H-F any respect. It seems like the only time the media shows up is when something bad happens...just saying. How many teams in our district do you know that face the opposing team during their school song to pay respect to that school at the end of a football game...win or lose? NONE in this district except for H-F...that was Mangan's rule...respect the teams you play. H-F baseball players also shake the hands of the umpire's after a game, win or lose...an ump has even posted that on here about this team. However, you never hear anyone else praising these kids for that.

Fishy out in H-F? Why? Because these kids are finally fighting and standing up for themselves to prove they have what it takes to be competive after years of being put down by other districts...laughed at by other districts? An AD that was standing up for them due to beligerant BC fans, before the game was called last night?

It's funny how no one from BC wants to talk about their behavior at the game last night. Deliberately blowing a whistle as HF pitcher would throw a pitch or a HF batter would swing...purposely to distract the player...come on now, grow up. Yes, the AD said something and it got ugly and BC didn't seem to want to drop it. Yes, some of our fans had whistle's too...they were told not to blow them to distract, only to celebrate something good...and they followed those rules.

The AD said game over?? Really now? Since when did an AD have that power? Why has no one mentioned that it was ACTUALLY the umpires who wanted to call the game based on UIL rules? This was my understanding of what actually happened. The umpires wanted to call the game based on UIL rules, Landry and Mahaffey state the district rules...the umps are not aware of the district rules and argue UIL rules, therefore, from what I understand, the AD calls the meeting with UIL and district officials. Seems to me the question should be which trumps which, UIL over District rules or District rules over UIL??? Again, therefore the meeting to determine which way this will go. Some of you people seem to have your information wrong...do you only have one source or what?? I mean maybe I am the one who is wrong, but this is how it was explained to me, more than once....just saying.

To my knowledge, everyone out here in HF wants to finish the game and wished they could have finished it last night while BOTH teams had their momentum going...it made for a GREAT game. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating and the lightening got to be too much, so the UMPIRES called the game based on lightening activity.

Whatever happens...win or lose, BC, HF, and OF are all in the playoffs and it will be exciting to see how well 21-3A represents this area!  :)

  5. wow...I've read these posts all season and have not said one word but I don't think I can take it anymore!!

First of all....CONGRATULATIONS to WOS on their win, it was much deserved! Great job Zane!

Secondly...all of you who are bashing on these kids from HF and their coach, have NO clue how this ball club really is. Let me point out that each player that was thrown out of the game, whether it was legitimate or not, not only set out for the remainder of that game, but also for the entire time on the next scheduled game. This is a rule strictly enforced by HF athletics, not only in baseball, but ALL sports at HF. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is there any other teams in our district that punish the kids in this way?? Yeah, I didn't think so, it's only done in HF! So don't ramble on about how it is not being handled....clearly you don't know what you are talking about. As far as the helmet throwing, and whatever else you want to put these kids down for, know this...these kids are their own worst enemies. When you witness one of these kids acting out like this, it's not because they disagreed with a call or because they think they are "HF Perfect", it's because they are mad at THEMSELVES for screwing up! I'm sure they are not the only kids in this district or in baseball in general that feel this way. I too have witnessed players from BC, HJ, OF, etc, throw helmets, hit their bats, etc. because they are frustrated with themselves. Get off these kids...they are a good team with a positive coach, who is dealing with the emotions of the team.

  6. Its okay HFMOM we all know what the real story is over here in 21-3A. As for Splendora they will not get the spanking from Jasper that HF gave them,  Jasper will go a little further and slapem like the "PUNK BEACHES" they are.

THANK YOU Hornsfan86!! I appreciate the back up! I just think it's funny that this guy thinks we are jealous?? He obviously has NO CLUE that HF is proud of the teams in 21-3A who made playoffs and realizes that our football year is over...the post is about who will win this game and I'm saying once again......

    JASPER BULLDOGS by 21+!!!

  7. HFmom why should anyone ask HF anything?  Did yall make the play-offs?  I am not denying that your team was tough, but Splendora has gotten a lot better than they were on week 1 & Kville hung 68 on you Friday.  I believe it would be a different game if we happened to play again.  But who cares?  We have a football game to play.  Have fun playing basketball.  Beat the dogs!!!!!!!!!

give it up...22-3A is one of the weakest districts in 3A where as 21-3A IS THE HARDEST district in 3A! five GREAT teams are in this district, anything could have happened on any given friday night during district play. all 5 had play off potential and any of them could have competed in the play offs, unfortunately only the top 3 teams get to go, so no HF didn't make it in but if we had we would have spanked Splendora for the second time this year...as I said before, Jasper...ya'll have this one! GET 'EM DOGS!!!

  8. Im glad to see that Splendora is the underdog, that is how it has been all year.  An easy win is a bold statement to make.  I can tell you there aint no quit in the Cats.  The boys play hard and they're dang tough.  They have also shown that strength can beat speed.  I know that you think that you are in the greatest district in the universe and nobody has a chance, but you better be ready to play the Wildcats.  Ask Silsbee!  Get the win Cats.

....or you can ask HF, who spanked both Splendora and Silsbee!! Dogs, they do play tough but I believe ya'll have this one!! Good luck, make 21-3A proud! GO DOGS!!!

  9. both jasper and silsbee played good games against the stangs....im sure coldspring will do the same.

Don't forget about HF....they were playing an awesome game against WOS until the 4th quarter and for some reason we just fell apart...i don't care what you say our district was tough this year and i think it's fair to say that WOS had some teams that proved to be very competitive! with that said...i would like to also ad...good luck next saturday, i for one hope WOS wins this game as they are representing 21-3A....GO MUSTANGS!!!

  10. who cares who beat who this season...the point is EC made it to the play-offs and they whole heartedly earned that spot! this is just my opinion, but those left in the district who did not make it to play-offs should be supporting those who did...they may not be representing your team or school but they ARE representing your district! most of us here at HF are wishing all those from our district who made playoffs good luck and wishing them the best, we lost and we have class enough to respect that. heck who knows, we may even make it out to one of the games if they make it to the next round but not this week because we are going to Shepard to support our neighbors at EC!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  11. I am very supportive of our team, I go to every game and root our team on. I am

stating the facts. If we could not stop Jeremy Granger and Jerrod Helton, then KV will give

us fits. Again it is because we have an injury plagued team right now. If we could have faced KV

at the beginning of district then we would have probably hung with them.

we need to quit using injuries as an excuse...the FACT is we didn't have those injuries against Jasper or at the beginning of the OF game and we still lost. the other FACT is that the horns haven't played the way they did against Silsbee...we haven't seen that same team since the Silsbee game. so our QB is out, we have one who can more than handle the job and in some peoples opinion, our back up QB is better than the one who has been starting all year. the LB who is hurt, yes he is an asset but he is not the WHOLE team. we will be fine and our advantage is everyone thinks that we are not, they think we are weak due to our injuries...so let them that think that, it gives us the upper hand. GO HORNS!!!

  12. I believe we lost both of them for the season QB to a foot injury and LB to a knee. OF played really physical that and we were still trying to recover from that pounding that Jasper put on us. We will lose Randall to graduation but hopefully we will have Dustin back for his Senior Year. I wish them well and God Speed on their recoveries.

not necessarily...the report i got today was that the QB was ok to play by his doctor as long as he could easily walk on his foot without crutches...he started out with the crutches this morning but was without them by the end of the day...as of today he didn't practice but he will most likely be playing Friday night and if not we have back up QB's that can fill in for him. As far as our linebacker...he hasn't been released yet and is still under doctor's care, hopefully he will get a good report and if we don't have him back this week hopefully we will have him back for K-ville.

  13. You obviously do not know what you are talking about....they do this after every game win or lose.  It is to show respect for the opposing team.

KatKiller...as not only a fan of HF but a parent of a senior on the HF team, I am extremely offended by your statement! These kids do this EVERY single game, win or lose at home or away and it IS out of respect for the other team. In fact, when we lost at home to Jasper on our homecoming, the team did the same thing and in return, Jasper's team came over during our school song and honored us as well. It was the first and only time a team we have played this year has taken que and done that. If you can't learn something from HF maybe you can learn something from Jasper. Congrats to the bobcats on their win..it was a hard loss for HF but one they are taking well and keeping their heads high and still fighting for that playoff spot!!

  14. DP, please get your facts straight. The HF fans were not upset with the selection of Coach Mangan for the AD job. The fans were upset that a dedicated coach that they were familiar with, and who also applied for the AD job, was not selected. This man poured his heart and soul into an undisciplined program, and consistently produced one of the top defenses in the area. So well as a matter of fact, that he brought his talents to PNG, where he continues to show his ability to get the job done. As for Coach Mangan, I along with all the HF fans that I know, have respected and admired him since day one, and wish him continued success.

I could not have said this any better!  :)

  15. You were originally correct...The Largest School from a district that makes the playoffs goes Division 1. The other two goes small school or Division 2.

WOS is actually the third largest school in 21-3a behind #1 Silsbee and #2 Jasper...Basically, if HF makes the playoffs they will be in Division 2, which is one round longer due to the fact that there are twice as many teams in D2.

Thank you so much...I don't feel so dumb after all!! I just assumed WOS was the larger school in 21-3A and that's where I messed up. Thanks again!

  16. would you guys mind explaining D1, D2, etc. to this mom?? i don't understand what that means as far as playoffs go?? i thought i might have had it figured out, i know that 3 teams from 21-3A will go to play offs....we have small 21-3A schools and large 21-3A schools...i thought maybe the larger schools were D1, but then i saw something about silsbee going D1 over WOS, and i would have guessed that WOS was bigger than silsbee??...so now i think i'm stupid and don't have a clue, please help me understand...lol!

  17. I'm going with WOS in this one...we've played both teams and WOS has been the best team we have played all season by far. I'm not taking anything away from Jasper, they are good and they are fired up right now, but they didn't play the HF team that Silsbee did, and they didn't play the HF team that played WOS the first half of that game. Our boys were not playing ball this past Friday night, it should have been a MUCH closer competition. Jasper came to play and our HF boys didn't. WOS will be ready for them.

    WOS    21

Jasper  12 (based on Jasper having a hard time making their XP's)

P.S. This is to the Jasper athletes...and please bear with me....after being at the JV game in Jasper Thursday night, I had little respect for this program, I understand it is an amazing feeling to beat an undefeated team but to behave the way these players did after winning was rude and uncalled for. I had a bad feeling going to the game Friday night, and I felt like after the "dawgs" beat us, we were going to see that same "rub it in your face" behavior we saw the night before. I was wrong...anyone that has played HF at home this season knows that our team lines up on the field in front of the opposing team to honor their school song first, then comes to the home side for their school song. It shows respect and now, I believe leadership. Congratulations to the Bulldogs for honoring and respecting our team, cheerleaders, band, drill team, and fans by facing our side while our school song was played...some of you even made the horns sign!! ;D  You are the only team we have played that has done that. You gained a lot of respect from HF by the way you handled your win against us and it very much appreciated. I can only hope that your JV will learn from your leadership!
