The more teams do it the more that will follow. Think about it, coaches are a follow the crowd bunch.

I have seen both Beaumont schools play. I thought they have enough talent, with the right coach to at least make it respectable.

There’s that potential here. PNG’s offense is that good. Ned’s defense not so good. Don’t see Ned’s offense having much success against PNG’s defense. Although Ned’s RB could break a few. Over all I don’t think there will be much day light to run. Just like against Marshal. Except for a couple of times their defense had Ned’s RB contained. Again, I look for the same thing from PNG’s defense.

Ok, two things: Little league means nothing as for as development for the high school. High school coaches have no control over them. Plus they are coached by parents. Now, as for as Jr high, from day one they should be running exactly what the high school is running. This is where the learning is started. The HC has control of this. If Vidor’s Jr highs are doing something different then may be the root of Vidor’s problem.

Manning not growing on trees in Vidor?! Well. One doesn’t know if that is true or not. For the past 20-25 years throwing the football has not been a priority. So, developing QB’s from the 7th grade on was never a priority. And if it was, who’s to say the Vidor coaches were able to do it?

With recent talk about some teams struggling to kick extra points, I’m surprised there hasn’t been teams that do nothing but go for 2 points after a touchdown. You practice it and then execute it during the game. Thoughts?!

I really don’t see BC scoring as long as Silsbee has its 1st team in. What I’d do is play the 1st team offense until the score gets 7-0 then play the 2nd team. Put the 1st team back in only if needed.

I always start with who I think has the better coach. Between the two, I feel it is Lumberton’s coach. Still not convinced about LCM’s coach.

I have to tend to agree! It’s tough running power football out of the gun.

I was going to draw a parallel between the WOS/Jasper game and the Silsbee/HF game. Well, some what of a parallel. Just saying what good coaches vs not very good coaches look like. The WOS game, you have good athletes but not very good coaches. Again, for Jasper, never been a fan of home cooking in hiring a coach. They are finding this out. But don’t feel bad, I’m in the same “home cooking coaching” situation with Nederland. I said WOS should win if the coach doesn’t screw it up. You score as many points as WOS did and you should win. If WOS had a decent coach I personally don’t think Jasper would have won. But…

Curious if Barbers Hill is gonna have some ref home cooking in their favor? 😏

These were two well coached teams. But, I figured Silsbee’s offense would be too much for HF to handle. But, not to be lost in the discussion, Silsbee’s defense is not too shabby!
