1. I am not sure we could open a hole in a wet paper bag!!!
 2. Because the O-line can't hold up we are now seeing the defense taking a hit.  UH will rack up 40+ tonight.  We have not made the progress I had hoped we had.  We are being dominated on the lines!!!
 3. O-line is the weak link not doubt.  McKnight is going to have to step it up.  O-line needs to be the number one recruiting priority for next year. Those guys also should not have a life outside of the weight room!!!
 4. O-line is going to have to open some running lanes if we are going to have chance to win this game!!!  If you give Sims a chance to get past the line of scrimmage then he can do something special.
 5. My friend, I audited BISD before Thomas took over and they were not anywhere near bankrupt!!!
 6.
Dr. Chargois earned both his bachelors degree and doctorate degree from Lamar so I can understand him being on the committee.  I'm not sure how dedicated Dr. Thomas would be to Lamar.  I think he's more interested in the money and the power than what's best for Lamar.
We do not need this to be a political football!!!  We don't need poeple with personal agenda's.  We had that in the 80's and 90's and it almost crippled the University.  Without Dr. Simmons Lamar would be ilrelevant instead of being vibrant and growing.  If this goes the way every damn thing in this town goes, then it will be screwed up beyond any logical understanding.  FUBAR comes to mind!!!!
I believe you. However the majority of the hat towards Thomas is because of his ethnicity. BISD was a failed  school district, rated unacceptable, crumbling schools, with the state of Texas moving to take it over. Today, rated recognized, new high tech schools, no layoffs in the recession, plus teacher raises. If you had read the Beaumont Enterprise online comment section on BISD over the years, the outrage was "Spending white tax payers money on blacks." 20 years ago, who would have ever thought a high tech brand new school would be built on Irving st.
UNLV I agree with you on the direction LU needs to go with Athletics, but absolutely do not agree with you if you are for Thomas as President.  Once again, as with every dang thing in this town, this will only be viewed through the lens of racial politics.  Just because you are a Supt of a Texas Independent School Dist doesn't qualify you to be the president of a University.
The media, specifically KFDM, was behind the endless attacks on BISD and Thomas. We all remember what the media did to Bush and now Romney. Stories were ran about ex-BISD students robbing banks. When there is a child molest case, the media never said ex-VISD student or ex-LCMISD student. KFDM really split the  community so, like you said, everything will be seen through race. Thomas would not get the job because Lamar does not want to get divided by this ignorant thinking mess. I personally think Thomas would do a heck of a job in growing Lamar to 20,000 and FBS.
I just categorically disagree with you that he would do a good job.  Just cannot see it.  Would be a huge mistake in my opinion!!!!  My gut tells me that support, financial or otherwise, for LU would dry up quicker than a mud puddle in the Sahara!!!!

 9. How in God's creation did the BISD Supt get on the selection committee!!!!
they scored last week
I am afraid they won't score much this year.  Appears to be a serious talent drain.  I am told by some parents so I cannot personnally verify that there are a lot young men that are not playing that would seriously help the team.  Not sure as to why but what bothers me is why wasn't the success of the '07-'08 seasons used to build the program to be a competitive year in and year out?  Somehow that was not used as a building block.
 12.
I was told by a very unbiased observer that had Trinity not lost it's QB in 2nd quarter, this would have been a very different ball game. ;)
Congratulations Lions!!!  Great to see you guys off to a great start!!!!  Hope y'all have a really special season!!!
DUH???
I didn't mean to brush over the win. Lamar beating PV would be expected. Lamar 31-0 over PV, astonishing. Texas Southern beat PV by 3 UNT beat Texas Southern 34-7 Lamar beat PV 31-0 What am I implying?
[Hidden Content]
I can't tell what you are implying, but to make a comparison about anything Lamar does this season in football with what UL-Monroe did in and to Arksansas is - well, just ludicrous.  That's just my opinion; a proud alumnus of Lamar State College of Technology, now Lamar University.
First, I didn't make that comparison. But lets say I did. The fact that UL-Monroe is able to win these mismatch games on a budget much smaller than Lamar's athletic budget. It goes against all those "Lamar can't ever compete at FBS, Lamar should stay in the SLC" crowd. UL-Monroe can do, so can Lamar even better. But we need to stop with the wimpy glass half empty we just can't do it" attitude so common among Lamar fans.
On this I wholeheartedly agree with you!!!!  Now on some of your posts on the politcal thread we seem be in different camps!
 14.
PV starting QB has to be out! Nice win Lamar.
No I think he played the whole game!!!!!

 16.
This was supposed to be Brenham vs. Bay City, but for some reason Bay City backed out and left Brenham scrambling for a tenth game.  Pope John called Coach West about playing the next two years with both games being in Brenham.  Brenham should win big.
Really big!!!!!
 17.
I read the Enterprise with amusement this morning.  The writer (can't think of his name) compares Lamar's 3rd year back at football, 2nd year in FCS classification(?), against and established program like ULL.  THERE IS NO COMPARISON!  ULL may be in the "lowly Sun Belt" but there is a big difference between the Cajuns and Lamar.  Scholarships, fans, facilities, athletic dept funds/budget, etc.  ULL is a real deal FBS program. The writer points to the McNeese win over FBS Middle Tennessee.  That can happen when a program like McNeese does not have a 10 lapse in sponsoring FCS football. My point is, Lamar fans should not be continually hard on the direction of the program.  It takes time for "start ups".  Unless.....................................you put the money into a coaching staff that can hit the ground running.  I thought Lamar was making a mistake hiring a JC coach, what, four years ago???  Should have hired a proven head coach or a top assistant from a successful program that could "kickstart" the Lamar program.  LU fans to need to get behind the program, attend games, fill the stadium regardless of who they are playing, regardless of their record. Four years ago all Lamar could do was sit on the sidelines, catch a meaningless game on TV, all the while wishing football would return to Lamar.  Well it has returned!  Embrace it, support it.
Good post Menace!!! Sometimes we need someone on the outside to remind us to stop acting like fools!!!
 18. Bottom line is Stump is a very good coach.  He will improve the fortunes of Atascocita.  He has been a winner since HS and has tutored unders some top coaches along the way. Flannigan may do a great job at WB (and I hope he does) in time.  Let's not let our biases and frustrations with the less than optimal polictial situation at BISD cloud our view of either coach.
 19.
[Hidden Content]
The success of this season rests more on these guys than any other position area.  Hopefully with McKnight these guys really gel and improve and we have a really good season.  Don't expect a conference championship, but would love to close the gap considerably with the top teams.  7 or more wins would be a good step this season.
 20.
They are cancelling mail service and have a curfew tonight in Lafayette, but ULL still plans on football against Lamar on Saturday.
The storm will be cleared out by Friday morning so unless there is some damage, and with Lafayette being on the weaker side of the storm that is less likely, then things should be ok for the game.
