  1. Tell you all what, if I give you Stewart and the field name, can we have a Wall of Honor for all of those that have made an impact over the history of the team, and a plaque over a bathroom stall for me, LOL! I really do hope that someone will try and do something to recognize the greatest Broncos over the course of time to name a few Smitty, Stewart, Durio, Pruitt, Allen Smith, Herman Rip, Pearson, Joe Carter, and yes my Grandfather Barney Clifton Payne. So many already have departed from us and there are so many that are to make their legends over time, but let us honor them all.

there is or was basically a wall of fame at the field representing all the teams that had made it in to the playoffs but unfortunately the sign was removed by the hurricane

  2. Key word in the headline "scrimmage"

Sheeeshhh - It was very apparent both teams had different agendas with this scrimmage.  Dayton wanted revenge and Lumberton wanted to evaluate players and situations.

Dayton is a very good team but come on, it was a scrimmage, not a distict game.

yeah and if dayton would have lost, you can't say that everybody from lumberton would be saying the same thing. scrimmage or not you come out to play not to practice. even the lumberton player were yelling it wasn't a fluke on the field

  3. Asa Cardenas HANDS DOWN is one of the best WRs in this area! He lacks in his initial burst, but has great closing speed and is very elusive in the open field. His route running is bar-none the best out of any WR in the area, thanks in part to Nederland's WR Coach Bryan Spell. He has produced many outstanding, stand-out WRs in his tenure at the Dog House: Yoder, Askew, Atterberry, Butler, and now Asa Cardenas.

which one played in 06..........i remember he was a beast well until they played ozen B.Wells locked em down

and dont for get the dayton corners

  4. It just so happens that Liberty had a string of 11 years broke in 2005.  That year they were tied for 2nd but sat at home because of points.  2006 they were back in and this year were cut short in the last seconds of 3 ballgames.  Dayton has a fine program, no doubt.  but don't go knocking your neighbor to the east.  Their football program has been just as successful!!

really thats weird i've never heard of liberty going five rounds deep much less 3, lately

  5. well it might not be a quote but i don't know what to call it

“Our gene pool is not that good,†Bronco head coach Jerry Stewart chuckled Tuesday.

“We’ve got two or three whose daddies are sawmillers. And there’s a pipefitter or two.â€

this was in the baytown sun talking about the wealthy class Austin Lake Travis good genes in sports

so...how bout the blue collar boys?

  6. Lets not go there (Lumberton beat Dayton) again....

    Is that topic old....

    Good score to compare....

    Nederland 21 Waller 14

    to...

    Nederland 0 Dayton 63

    That said....

Both teams are playing AWEsome right now.

If you were a coach from another team, who do you think they would choose NOT to play...

The choice would be clear, Dayton.

Dayton's defense has allowed a meager 37 points in the last 9 games while in that same time no team has been able to slow down the Dayton offense.

If both teams play 100% Dayton wins, but you don't win the game until you play a better game and have more points on the scoreboard when time runs out.

    GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS!

    I can't wait till Friday!

well if you say that livingston said they would rather play us because we matched up better with them

  7. Dugat is a special player and he's been there all year.  Charles missed the first part of the season.  Dayton's offense would still roll even without AJ as John Gable, Sommers, Fontenot, #81, and #2 are all top notch players as well.  I'd like to see a Dayton guy as that's where I'm from, but that running back from Lumberton would have to be my choice.  I guess his name is Cody Hussey.  He's the most valuable player to his team of anyone in the district regardless of AJ being probably one of the best 4A players in the state.  Amazingly enough, word is he only runs a 4.8 forty.  Funny thing is that Jerry Rice never ran faster than a 4.6 - football speed man.

sorry to tell you but aj probably ran that in junior high

  8. As a Raider fan, I'm really just amused by your lack of originality.

Note - the true connotation of the L-train is not just referrring to the football team, but to an overwhelming entity that has taken over this town - the players, cheerleaders, the Mighty Raider Band, the Raiderettes - AND the unprecedented community support. Joining the L-train is getting into the spirit of it all - it's being able to discuss the upcoming game with anonymous people all over the Golden Triangle area, it's cars all the way down I-10 that are painted red and blue and loaded with fans, it's a tailgate party that rivals a college game, it's a sea of red and blue, sharing your food and your snacks with people you don't even know, high-fiving anyone who's near, it was the whole crowd going crazy during the half-time Thriller dance a few weeks ago, and it continued last night with that final firetruck escort after midnight when we met the team back at the school... So know that when we talk about the L-Train, we are all a part of it... Lumberton fans and all the other fans in surrounding areas/schools who have so graciously supported and encouraged our team. We've ALL been on the ride...

By all means call yourselves whatever you wish, but know that you are making a comparison to something you can't touch...

    L-TRAIN

Everything else is just a cheap imitation

seriously, and this is from the fans that were saying LOJO and Lumberton MOJO...i think that would go to the Permian panters

  9. This is the best team in one major respect - teams of the past had three or four outstanding performers who led the team, and these teams from 1961, 1998, and 2002 were senior dominated teams. One of our biggest playmakers, AJ Dugat is a junior. Our leading tacklers each and every game are sophomore Moises Herrera and junior Fred Hynson. Yes, Brent Kimmy on the defensive front is a senior, however, Aaron Jenkins (32), Chris Young (45), and Evan Brown (25) are sophomores, while Xavier Edwards (60) is a junior.

On the offensive line, the center, Robert Billings and the right guard, Jon Pittsenbarger are seniors, but the RT, Tony Hill (77) is a sophomore, LG Anthony St. Julian and LT Ray Samuels are juniors.

That kind of returning nucleus can't make next year's opponents not be a bit apprehensive about another powerhouse Bronco team. The point is that this is not a senior-laden team, but has more widespread talent across it than any Bronco team I've seen in the past, well, since the 1960's.

the 2002 team was mostly juniors
