I watched both games. I think Crosby had the better defense against PNG. Hard to measure since both dominated, but against Crosby my sense was nothing we could do would work, while against TH the sense was if we would execute we’d be staying in the game.

It wasn’t targeting. But it was just as bad. It was a flagrant, unnecessary, late blindside hit. The player did “favor an arm” because that arm, from what we saw, is broken - they had to cut his shoulder pads off on the PNG sideline. He was on the ground for about five minutes. For no reason other than apparent malice, and completely uncalled for in a game where everything is going in favor of Texas High. I wouldn’t characterize the hit as anything other than an inexcusable cheap shot, and the kid who did it should have been ejected. It wasn’t just “oh football is rough,” and it wasn’t merely incidental contact. He should have been kicked out of the game, if he wasn’t (I don’t think the refs ejected him) and he shouldn’t be allowed to play in the next game. Other than that play, hats off to Texas High. Clearly the better team, and will be a handful for Crosby. I’ve never seen such a good defensive line. Congrats on the win.

If the D can keep slowing then down and we can get the offense going, there’s still room for a comeback. Let’s go Indians

Png play calling is suspect. Players are walking around like they don’t want to be there. Refs have missed some penalties. Refs are spotting the ball terribly. Texas high clearly better but PNG could be showing up better . O line getting killed

PNG can stop them for a bit, but if the Texas rb gets past the line he’s going to the house every time.

I think it would come down to matchups. Texas City v PNG would have been an interesting rematch, and winnable for PNG. And if BH had somehow made it past Crosby, anything can happen between PNG/Texas City/Texas and Bh. As it is, the long-term playoff impact of the PnG side of the bracket is likely to be zero because I think no matter which team makes it to the regional championship, the other team will be Crosby and Crosby will win.

Good work PNG. Genuinely sorry for Texas City and Barbers Hill. Good luck to Crosby tomorrow. No doubt that 12-5a2 is one of the most competitive districts in the state. A murderers’ row district.

I agree - BH didn't just squeak by FBM for a last-minute upset. They controlled every aspect of the game. It bodes well for a dark horse run.

It would be amazing, but of course unlikely. Every game is winnable for our teams in the 2nd round, but I don’t think anyone but Crosby is a favorite. I’d say TC and PNG can be argued have toss-up games depending on which version of Tc and PNG show up. Bh has the tallest order, but that was true last week too. And when Bh is playing well, they have GREAT pieces in place to go head to head with most teams. PNG has to play better on defense and the png QB has to make good decisions and protect the ball more consistently. It can be done, but I’m not holding my breath.

I think Adam should have started in 2013 too. Ky Walker was good, but he was also a good defender. ky at corner with Adam at qb would have been a good combo

This is something I’d like to see catch on, especially when teams from the area make deep runs. Like, if Team A is knocked out of the playoffs and Team B is still in, Team A fans could show up in force wearing their own colors.
