I think its been a few years since West Rusk has been in the playoffs much less won a playoff game.  Congrats on the win!

He came to HJ after being a head coach at Tatum and Jasper...I believe two years at each with deep playoff runs at both places.

What year was Davis a head coach in tatum and jasper?? Just curious.

Tatum is not in Arp's district.  Tatum is a 3A school, Arp is 2A.

Never said tatum was in that district.  My dad's school is in that district.  Tatum was in the district with Arp for the past two years.

I have been told that Tatum is down this year (By down I mean not as salty as they have been...Still better than most teams in the area tho.)  My father is a coach in that area.  They are in Arp's district.  From what he has told me, Arp will be a real tough game.  Lots of athleticism over the years.  I remember playing them when I was in school.  West Rusk is also doing well in that district.  Seem to be on track to make the playoffs for the first time since 98 I believe.  They will battle it out with Arp for the dist championship.

I hate it when people complain about running up the score.  I have been on both sides of the issue.  It sucks not being able to stop somebody.  But on the other hand if your a playoff caliber team and have a shot of going deep then you must give your big dogs playing time to get them ready to play full games.  If it means simplifying your offense to fine tune basic plays then do it. But they need to stay on the field to build their stamina.  How many people complain when HJ and Silsbee run up the score in basketball?  None because they say they have to get in better shape to compete for state.  Football is the same way.  When you run into teams down the road in the playoffs that are in game shape they will have the upper hand.  At the same time a coach must realize that it is important to get his back ups in the game so they can gain valuable experience because you never know when injuries are going to occur and they will be relied on.  When your success as a coach relies on wins and losses you have to think whats best for your team as a whole.  If you were in the business world and you had an opportunity to make a big sale and your company profits greatly from it would you take it or would you settle for someone else coming in and taking part of your share??  You could argue that these are kids that are involved but what if the other businessman that you beat out to get the big sale have a family to support?  You as a coach are hired to have success with your team not your opponents.  Good Luck Kville.  When our fball season is over I cant wait to come see yall in the playoffs.  Hopefully you will play close to where im at.

ive got to go with arp on this one.  ive seen both teams play this year and its not gonna be about sedrick vs tremain (we all know they will both get theirs). Arp's other guards (corey walker and co.) are going to be the biggest factor.  Ive seen EC's other guards throw the ball around way to carelessly the games ive seen them play.  Arp will take an advantage of this.  Vance could be a big factor as well. But i have to give arp the edge.  Good luck to both teams and coaches!

what teams are playing warmup games/tie breaker games in this area?? whats happening at the montagne center??

kville has some good ones coming up as well.  HF beat kvilles 7th grade this year but they also had 4 starters out.  Not an excuse by any means but it couldve been a different result.  Kvilles 9th grade has some great potential in all sports especially since they are dropping down to 2A next year.

the game was tied 41-41 at the end of regulation. jasper pulled it out in OT.  kville looked like a different team than how they have been playing.  lots more intensity on the defensive end even with a much shorter bench.  if they keep up the intensity they will be able to knock some people off.  good job to both teams. 

Kirbyville rebounded and made some layups against HJ.  They actually played with a little intensity at times.  That is something they did not do against Orangefield or that game would have been a lot closer.  Kirbyville has a chance to upset some people in this district if they play like this in more of their games.  They have the athletes to do it but right now they lack the fundamentals and they make too many mental mistakes like not blocking out and making dumb passes. 

dang...this is a team that kirbyville should have been up 20-7 at halftime instead of down 7-6...interesting
