This whole thread brings up a perception problem that has surrounded Kelly (especially soccer) since at least the 80's. That perception is that they are spoiled rich kids, that they are just a little better than their public school counterparts, and that losing is beneath them. I am not saying that there is any truth to this but it does exist among many local people(not all). Knowing this already exists ,perhaps the coach should have chosen more wisely how he sums up a game. Instead of leading off with Travel took its toll.....and a goal was scored in the first 2 minutes, those facts could have come after discussing the opponents reasons for winning. Then talk about what Kelly needs to improve upon. When the first two sentences start the way you began the listener is thinking "oh boy - here comes the excuses..." They never hear the 14 -3 shots on goal, because their mind is turned off. This is a real deal public obstacle that you need to be aware of. public relations 101 - Don't make excuses -- 101a(or anything that may resemble an excuse) Counseling fee $0

Lets see - After all games are played on Friday & Saturday, a committe meets on Sunday and re-seeds the remaining teams and then calls the coaches so they can secure a stadium? ? ? ? Oooooohhhh K. Imagine all the pouting about: "Why do we have to play Team A?" "If you look at our schedule versus their schedule.............." "We are getting screwed in all of these Secret Meetings Everyone hates us. :'( "Do we "re seed by points or head to head?" This re-seeding round by round would include weekly wars and probably court injunctions.

Advantage for Kelly on catching the UIL Teams in their early season while the TAPPS teams are in midseason form. (Not a knock on Kelly but quite a factor IMHO)

What events are you referring to where they re-configure round by round? Are you referring to the the final 4 State Finalists in the volleyball, basketball and baseball tournaments?

I was there also. Lots of green,white and red flags everywhere with a few stars and stripes. I don't remember the tickets being so expensive though. It seems like the price has doubled. Could be wrong - it WAS a while back.

Speakin of Ned's 08 season - Stay off the computer and train. I wonder if anybody remembers the early days of Nederland Soccer. About 15 or 20 yrs ago I witnessed the greatest high school soccer comeback in the solar system. Nederland down by 4 at half to a Beaumont HS. Final score: Ned 5 Bmt 4 I think the same player scored all of Nederland's goals. Not sure who but I guess it really doesn't matter. The TEAM never gave up. Totally amazing. I'm not sure if this game was videoed or not, but I think often that it would be a valuable lesson to young players.

Bullets13 - Thanks for the reply - I agree with you. It has always been approximately the number of starters fielded that would make up the first team. A second team of similar numbers and hon. mention. Until recently this is how it has been in various teams sports I have been associated with for the last 51 years. Each school has criteria for qualifying for a varsity letter and there is generally an athletic banquet held to give standout awards at the team level. Now its seems that some (of the early posters) would like to give every participant an all district recognition to feel good about themselves and to "avoid criticism from yahoos". I say for them, order 200 trophies, have a pizza party, and name EVERYBODY all-district. (Group hugs afterwards) for the fter that.and most the

I do have quite an interest in this subject and am not obsessed but it is important....... However you have a good point.
