Find an Organization that fits ALL your needs and remember by the time the player is in 8th grade they better be playing with a group that takes care of their business on the recruiting side and play in the correct type of tournaments if they plan on playing college softball. D1 Schools are committing players earlier and earlier. Talked to A&M not to long ago and they were looking at 7th graders. D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO, you have a little more time but not much. Again.....Make sure you do your research and find the BEST fit.

I have not noticed much on Setx about the local Impact Gold or Houston Power... Are they still around? I have some High School kids looking for teams to tryout..

Darren, Go play 18U ball. It will be the best decision you can make IF the player is capable of playing at that level.

The Young Gold Team will be not continuing to play this fall. I will be moving to the Orange Crush - Harrell team effective as of today and will serve as there College Recruiter Contact person. I am very excited to be working with the Crush Organization and plan to stay involved and continue in that capacity for years to come. All of the players on the Young Guns Gold team have been encouraged to attend the Crush Gold tryouts and any other tryouts they feel is best for them as a player. I look forward to continue to help players achieve thier goal of playing softball in College and them getting the most important of all....a college degree. Allen Gautreaux

No doubt there are very few as dedicated as Billy. Great job over the years. Congrats to all the players that have gone on to the next level with the help of OOC. Let me know if some have changed or need to be added. I know there are way more teams than this outside of the Golden Triangle. I would like to also know how many of these have multiple age groups. Jaiden Rawls current Young Guns Gold player and Beaumont Kelly 2013 graduate signed her National Letter of Intent to play Softball for Coach Rick Church at Blinn this past Friday. Also....thanks to all the past coaches, softball teams and teachers that helped her follow her dream. Congrats and good luck from your Young Guns softball family!

After just one season, Orangefield girls basketball coach Katie Sanders is leaving to take the Middle School Coordinator position in the Pflugerville School District.  Sanders, a 2006 OF grad, was 16-13 in her first job as a head coach and lead the Bobcats to the second round of the playoffs.  I wonder why she left so soon.... Who is next?

Young Guns Gold is currently looking for a pitcher/utility player. Our pitching staff will be losing a 2013 graduated senior that will be making her official scholarship acceptance announcement very soon, to continue pitching/playing in College! ;) We are looking for a 2015 (graduation year) preferably, but will consider younger or older depending on the player. Young Guns Gold will have tryouts this Sunday 5/19 at the Kelly High School Softball Field at 2:00. All of our existing players are done with High School Softball for this year. We are looking for pitchers but would also be interested in looking at a few new position players. Team practice will start shortly after tryouts and end with a intersquad scrimmage. You are encouraged to stay for the complete practice. This team will play ASA Gold Qualifiers this summer with intentions to Qualify for ASA Gold Nationals and many other Quality College Exposure Tournaments. Come out and meet the existing players that range from Galveston, Houston, Beaumont, HJ, Orangefield, LCM, BC, Louisiana, Etc. We will have practices at a later date that will include the Gold players working with the younger age group players after the team is set but younger players are encouraged to come watch and see what the Young Guns Softball Organization is all about Sunday.
