  1. Ok, I understand that the football game can still go on with less cheerleaders and Fillies. I understand that the volleyball game cannot go on with less girls. I agree it was poor planning. The coach should have noticed that at the beginning of the season or when ever the schedule was made. The only thing I am saying is that the coach could have made some sort of decision for the girls. She could have possibly told them that since they were agreeing to forfiet the game that heir varsity position could be taken or something. She could have made some sort of consequence for the non attendance. Also, do the cheerleaders and Fillies get a grade for the involvement? I know the volleyball girls are in Athletics which is an actual report card grade. It seems the graded participation should be important to them also.

I just wish it would be taken just for the situation and not mostly because it is WOS. Would this thread be so long if it were another school? Probably not...

  2. On Fridays the teams who have footballs games the varsity plays FIRST, HJ agreed to play at 4:00pm giving time for Hardin - Jefferson and WO - S's volleyball players to make it to each teams football game.  WO - S declined and forfeited.

Bridge City and Orangefield do NOT have football games this week, so varsity will play last after freshmen and JV.

Great but what happens when the bus has already left for the game? What if that is the only transportation they student has? How are they supposed to get from the volleyball game to the football game, in Houston, then? It would be different if the game was somewhere such as Beaumont or something but it's in Houston...

  3. What is the reason for declining enrollment? Is it that bad over there? One thing is for sure, the "no comment" by the volleyball coach speaks volumes. Why do some people think west orange is getting bashed out of jealousy? What would they be jealous of? (I am not being rude, its just that i know very little about the situation over there, and i am looking for WO-S fans to give me some info)

what does the enrollment have to do with anything? Also, what exactly are you implying with the comment "is it that bad over there?" Seems like you may be trying to get off into some other discussion...

  4. secondary needs work for sure!!! its nice to see we have a kicker capable of making a PAT!!!! at first the team on the field didnt resemble the wos team were use to seeing, it seemed there was no fire in their eyes and a few heads seemed to have been hanging after that horrible coverage on the td. the running game was more than solid and we HAVE to get these receivers the ball and make good throws! i heard alot of chatter in the stands about needing only 8 yards for the first but going for 60 yards down the field and overthrowing everyone. we have to open up the playbook...i guess we'll see.

  5. I know this is not the weather forum, but many do not venture in that area.

I'm speaking from my heart, with some good inside knowledge, that if you do not have plans to leave this weekend, please do so accordingly. Hotels are already filled up as far as Corsicana, plus it's Labor Day weekend.

We have a very serious situation on our hands, GUSTAV, who I have nicknamed GUSTAVO MENDOZA. Forget the tracks or what you think you may hear about a landfall in Louisiana, we will likely be in harm's way come Tuesday. If Gustav makes landfall at Cameron Parish, do you know that's nearly the same location RITA landed? Most forecasts say at least a Cat 3, and if I'm not mistaken, Rita weakened to a high-end Cat 2 when landing.

Football season may be in jeopardy, but lives are more important. Be advised not to take the 'oh it's not coming here, i'm staying' route. It could be weeks before any running water or electricity is turned on.

Whatever you believe in or pray to, I would add a little prayer for SETX/SWLA and all of our leaders, plus people that will work to help put the pieces back together, as they did in 2005.

I may be a bit overbearing, overboard, but this is not a scare tactic. SETX is my home.

You may hit us GUSY.....BUT YOU WON'T KEEP US DOWN LONG!!!!

May God be with each and every one of you!!! Good Luck and God bless!!!

Ive been trying to get my entire family motivated to take action early but none of them are taking this serious...Early next week is gonna be hell!!!
