1. Playing Maryland right now on Opening day 1-0 UT in the bottom of 6th Orangefield's Jacob Felts was the starting catcher today.
 2. It's very typical for bats to lag at the beginning of the season.. For any team. LU will be fine! Great outing combined by those LU pitchers..

TUBBS!!! :o ::) ::)
I would assume that Tubbs requested that.
Gotta make the misses happy.
 4. 6 kids quit in 2 years? Unless you're talking about football.. And assuming the work outs aren't army-like, there seems to be a common issue there..
 5. He needs to be the highest paid player in the game, end of story. I don't think he should get 10 years $300 mill, but he should have more money per year than any other player in the game.

 7. Josh Mitchell would be great for the job.. Young guy who knows the game and loves working with the kids. He may not have as much experience as some other applicants (if the job were to open) but he's from Lumberton and it's always great if you can hire one of your own.
 8. Pujols is the best player in the game, hands down.. He hasn't showed any signs of slowing down.. He deserves to be paid like it.
 9.
Roc has settled on 4 starters he recruited out of high school, plus Osas and Lynch played tonight.  Is this a new trend for Roc?  I do like that he's starting Minor since he plays defense and can shoot the 3.  With both Custer and Brown starting (Brown had 13 points) does this mean Roc has slowed down the offense and is finally concentrating on playing some defense? If this team does get hot and makes it to the SLC tourney and wins a few games then will Tidwell give Roc a one year extension because he'll have almost the whole team back next year?
You'd have to.. Even if the season starts and stays ugly for the most part, if you're able to take the team to the conference tourney and make a run at the title, it's hard not to bring him back. I think people may get ahead of their selves however, this is only one game.

Those should be the 2 new sports. LU already has the swimming facilities and should rent the Butch for hosting.
Is there any facilities in Beaumont that are good enough to host a D1 Softball program? It's not irregular to have an off-campus athletic facility. SFA has their ball programs fields well off campus in a city park.. Both facilities are plenty nice.
Ford is good enough, but Lamar can built it's own field. Lamar has a nice swimming facilities for training, but I would be embarrassed if Lamar tried to host a meet there. Rent the Butch for meets.
If they announce the move in April like some people "in the know" are expecting, they could immediately hire a SB coach and get him recruiting.. While they start building the field. They could play their first season 2 years from now at Ford until their facility is complete. Isn't there a rule where men's and women's facilities in "same sports," (baseball/softball) that the facilities have to be "equal" to each other? Meaning you couldn't have a top notch baseball facility like the Beck and build an up to par or sub-par softball stadium.

 14. Lon Morris moves to 7-3 on the year after splitting with both McClennan and Hill College on Saturday and Monday. LM plays again this Wednesday at SFA against Wharton Junior College. Locals for Wharton include Sam Malchar and James Rachel, both of Crosby. Locals for Lon Morris include Chris Burdette from Hemphill, Matt Bench and Cody Ressler of Crosby, and Tyler Wilson of Lumberton.
 15.
i googled something like this...it seems naming a new starting qb in the spring aint real common....maybe Woodard is trying to free up some jerseys from those that, say, end up 4th,5th 6th deep??  Louis? thought he had already moved from qb? no mention of Tatum...he go defense?  saw him on a couple of kickoffs last year.
Tatum and Louis both played D last year.
You sound like a Techster not wanting to be with lowly Lamar if they move up...whats the difference, Red?  Both schools trying to "go bigger" in athletics?  Why the double standard?
You should check out ACU's athletic programs before you assume they can't get the job done. They could play each of Lamar's teams today and contend and possibly even win. Tarleton State is another one that could probably move up to the SLC. And puddin, agreed.
 18. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this.. But what is you guys favorite sports book? There are plenty of good ones: Bullpen Gospels by Dirk Hayhurst (best baseball book I have ever read), Beyond Belief by Josh Hamilton (The story is amazing), Born to Play the Game by Dustin Pedroia.. What are some other greats?

 20.
Who allows a cousin to be in charge of a twitter account? Real sketchy there. Just when this team is rolling... They dont need any distractions....
Most Twitter accounts for celebrities and athletes are not ran by the actual athlete or celeb.. They usually have someone run the site for them. So, it's pretty believable to me.
 21.
The TSUS board of regents meetings are being held now and looking at the agenda here's a few items I found pertaining to Lamar: 1. Athletic fee 2. Naming of Room 200A in the Setzer Student Center 3. Naming of Dorms and Playing Court at Montagne Center 4. Award the Doctor of Humane Letters (L.H.D) Degree Does anyone have more details on these items? Looks like they've received more sizable donations. Maybe the naming of the playing court is for a new scoreboard?  I also wonder if they want to raise the athletic fee to support a move to the WAC?
Lets hope so, that scoreboard has got to go.

The SLC is more stable than the WAC. If LU leaves, ACU will jump in. That makes for a 10/12 conference. Why does SHSU fear this conference.
If the SLC is back filled with higher quality D2 teams like ACU I have no problem staying put...at this point their football team is as good or beter than what Lamar has fielded...
Not diputing your assessment "at this point".  However, that will not be acceptable and hopefully that will change in the 2011 season, 2012 for sure.
I would hope with some of the people you guys have brought on board you will make significant improvements in 2011 and 12.  For some reason people think that because a school is D2 they are somehow inferior to FCS, but look at what UCA did in football their first few seasons in the SLC, they were kicking everybodies tail.   They have since leveled off but have never ever been an uncopetitive whipping boy for anyone so depending on the schools moved up it doesnt have to be a negative thing.
ACU could compete in every sport in the Southland, right now. Their facilities, with the exception of their football stadium which would need to be expanded, are top notch as well.
 23. LM swept again yesterday, moving to 5-1 on the year. Hemphill's Chris Burdette was the starting 3rd basemen, and Lumberton's Tyler Wilson threw a complete game. LM's next series will be Saturday against McClennan, another nationally ranked program.

Does he have any other offers than Baylor though... Baylor is a very good program but Smith is known to abuse his players chances.
He is bound by a signed LOI. His only other option now is the MLB Draft.
Can he not decide to go JUCO still ? Just asking.....has nothing to do with Baylor...I like Baylor's program and what a quality education. BTW, spoke with Aaron Miller ( Channelview '06, Baylor '09 ) now w/ LA Dodgers over the holidays. Remember his name...kid has a very bright future now that he is back to pitching again.
I met Aaron one time, seems like a great guy and apparently even better pitcher. Eagle, he can still go the juco route if he so chooses as well!
