1. Either Gizzi or Sparrow will be playing third base if I had to guess.
2.
Does CheerMom4 get on anyone else's nerves?  Just wondering!!   ;D
Did you mean to spell your name that way? Just wondering!!  ;D
no one notice the whole png team was on the dang field while he was running ??? ??? chs won that game ref's took it away
We must not be watching the same video.
yes, it was lucky, but the timing and the significance of it make it the play of the year IMO.  hopefully one of our local teams will make a play in the state championships that takes this one's place  ;D
But actually the significance of this play no matter how exciting it was didn't affect the playoffs.
Had Central won the game, they would have taken #1 seed in the district and us #2, due to the head to head loss by PN-G, so I'd say there would have been some impact on the playoffs.
Not true.  That game had no bearing on Playoff implications.  Central and PN-G have already clinched the # 1 first round playoff spots in their respective divisions.    They were playing for either an outright  district title (Indians) or a share off the disteict title (Jags).
Gotcha. Could have sworn I heard that on one of the news station! Had Nederland and/or Vidor not won, could it have made a difference then?

All I know is I will never forget that moment!  The roar of the PN-G crowd, as Dunbar sprinted down the sideline!
Watching the players on the sidelines as they cheered him on and some of the Indianettes running on the track following Dunbar to the end zone TD, it may sound goofy but, it actually brought a tear to my eyes! LOL
That's the part I love too... I've watched it over and over!
7. This video was originally shot and edited by Brent Walker and the PN-G Prime Time crew from the Class of 2009. [Hidden Content] He agrees that the new music is a nice addition to the footage. GO INDIANS!
8. It was a tough ending to a wonderful season, but we're proud as can be of the boys, and thank them for an unforgettable summer. What a great group of kids, I'm privileged to have spent this time with them. Well done, Nederland.
9. I believe Trent will start on the mound, and yes, Conley is a WestBrook student. Our team has gained a ton of support here from the other teams, as they've been eliminated... New York, Wisconsin and Longview, WA, in particular. They all sat together on our side to cheer for us last night, and after the win, formed a tunnel with their steepled arms for the boys to run through as they left the field, it was really something to see. They told us to look for them tonight in black, white and gold body paint! We're having a wonderful experience here in Washington... here's hoping we take it all the way!
10. [Hidden Content] Sunday, August 23, 2009 10:08 AM PDT By Erik Olson Their minds are focused on bringing the Babe Ruth World Series title down south to Nederland, Texas. But the hearts of the players and coaches of the Nederland 13-to-15-year-old team are with a former player that none of them knew. And they’re hoping to make a mark in his honor, 12 years after a tragedy in Longview rocked the small Gulf port town. Nederland is back in Longview for the first time since its starting left fielder, Chad Richard, was bicycling through town after a game in the 1997 World Series and ran into a parked pickup, hitting his head on the windshield. The 15 year old died several days later at the hospital. Team members are wearing a No. 4 patch on the sleeves of their jerseys to honor Richard. The number is retired for all Nederland Little League and Babe Ruth games, according to The (Port Arthur, Texas) News. “Every time you see it, you know what it represents,†Nederland manager Juan Rodriguez said. Nederland is a town of about 18,000 people on the Gulf Coast east of Houston, and baseball is big. Combined with players from nearby Port Naches-Groves, the Nederland squad finished third in the World Series last year, then went on an eight-game tear en route to winning the East Texas State Tournament. Nederland is a close-knit community, and was deeply wounded by Richard’s death, Rodriguez said. “It’s very emotional for the city,†Rodriguez said. (more at the link)
11. [Hidden Content] Saturday, August 22, 2009 9:13 PM PDT By Rick McCorkle One play during a baseball game can be the difference between winning and losing. It was one play — a line drive — in the fifth inning of Saturday’s 13-15 Babe Ruth World Series matchup with Nederland, Texas and Appleton, Wis. on David Story Field that made the difference for Nederland. Nederland relief pitcher Collin Walker snagged a line drive from Appleton’s Patrick Hollenbach, and flipped the ball to third baseman Trent Fontenot to complete a double-play. The bang-bang play killed an Appleton rally as Nederland went on to post a 7-3 victory. Sunday, Nederland (1-1) plays Longview in the third day of pool play at 5:35, and Appleton (0-1) meets Fargo, N.D. at 7:35. “We have a guy at third with no outs, and I liked our chances for another run or two,†Appleton coach Dave Emanuel said. “The game could’ve been 6-4 (in favor of Nederland) easily, but that’s the problem with the game of baseball. It’s a game of inches in a lot of ways.†Appleton, which trailed 6-1 going into the bottom of the fifth, scored twice when Jake Schnese doubled to right field off Nederland starter Jordan Rodriguez. Nederland manager Juan Rodriguez lifted Jordan Rodriguez for Walker, who got Hollenbaugh to hit a first-pitch line drive back to him to begin the double play. Beau Rigstad followed with a strikeout to end the inning. “I really like the way we came back after the second inning because it could’ve got a little out of hand,†Emanuel said. “I told the guys they belong here, and a couple of plays here and there and they’re right on top of the game. I didn’t know how we’d stack up, but I think we’ll be fine.†Rodriguez scattered seven hits, struck out one batter and walked two, while Walker allowed one hit, struck out four and walked one in three innings. 12. There is a band currently playing that is just awful! Bunch of rock'n roll rejects. Ya know, I enjoy a good cover band, really, but this one just ain't doing it for me!
13. They're broadcasting more than I expected. Opening ceremonies should begin in about 10 minutes.
14. Yeah, the good news is that Torrance, CA didn't hit any either... I hope it goes the same for them tomorrow!
15. Hunter Knox coming up live in the home run derby any minute now: [Hidden Content]
16. great pic Yes, we had a few who decided to play "true Texan". I'm just glad big guy in the overalls agreed to put his shirt back on!
17. And they have officially arrived in Washington, no worse for the wear. Not sure if the same can be said for their fellow passengers.
18. I'm not sure if this has already been posted, but there are some great shots of a few BC kids included in this photo feature: [Hidden Content]
19. Congrats Nederland! The stars might just be aligned for you to bring home the grand prize...in 2 games to get 19 hits, only score 5 runs, commit 5 errors and still win the championship shows the gods are smiling on you! Thanks for the compliment, GT. As they say, a "W" is a "W", and is the difference between some people staying home while others travel to the World Series. I'll take it.
20. Sounds Great!! I spoke to BC coach and he was game!! We should do something special for the guys for representing the Golden Triangle as they did... What an accomplishment for all teams including Babe Ruth 13 and 15yr olds..Soon we will be called SETX Baseball capital of the world...haha!! Fun coincidence? Four of the boys and the coach from this Nederland team were with the Groves National Little League all star team who made it to the Little League SW Regional Tourney in 2006. And guess who eliminated us? West Texas! We need revenge Thursday night, Bridge City!
21. Crying tears of joy over here, I'd give anything if I could be there with them now, celebrating, but had to come back to work yesterday. I am so, so proud... I can't even express how much. Way to go, boys!!!!!!!!!!
22. No details yet, but Daniel's mother says he's going to be okay.
23. Rodriguez is now covering third so Fontenot can catch in Daniel's absence.
24. I just hope he'll be okay for football, he's danged good at that sport, too. :-\
