  1. I agree respect at that level should be given to whoever is in charge. AS for the IDIOT bobette........I would suspect your one of those parent problems waiting to happen if you have not already been one. Your lack of respect is ridiculous. YOU need to keep your Outta town self' date=' OUTTA TOWN......................No matter what YOU think the reason is, if the coach decided to put his family first over a JOB, then my hats off to him. Some things in life are more important than work, or coaching. If you cant see that, then off to the glue factory with ya. You work to live, not live to work........................[/quote']

Never thought I would agree so completely with a post from BigRed! Best of luck to Coach Buff and his family.

  2. This trash talking from bearbacker09 is getting out of hand ! I think her post should be monitored.

Big difference in trash talk and bragging rights. Congrats to the Bears, you certainly earned Orange County Bragging Rights. Good luck to the Cards and the Bears the rest of the way.

  3. :tired How many ways can we bring up the BC/LCM topic on this board?

I'd like to say we will find out Friday night, but am afraid that fans coming to see a head to head match up between Angelle/Ehlert are going to be disappointed. This is a TUNE UP game to prepare for a tough post-season schedule. My guess is we will be seeing several pitchers for each program. A few innings at most for each of these guys. Lets try to keep the hype in perspective to the type of game this is.

  4. Well said, Lonewolf. It is very emotional to be a parent of a senior. Even if your player makes it to the next level, they have spent the last 14 or so years playing with many of the same kids through school- they will never be able to say that again. For those teams in the play-offs, I hope these kids will realize how valuable this time together is and make the most of it. Also, make the best decisions you possibly can while off the field, do what you can to stay safe and healthy so that when it is all over, you won't look back with regret-only great memories of the times you spent playing the game you love with friends you have had your entire young life.

  5. I don't think it is anyone's place here to evaluate the Vidor program and determine whether a new coach or AD is in order. I thought coach bashing was not allowed on this site. IMO-this entire thread should be deleted, we are talking about people's careers.

Bigdog-no disrespect, but on all of your post you have the statement that Nederland has been in the play-offs 10 years consecutively? Is that in baseball? Does that include the year they had to have a play-off for the number three spot in district with Ozen? What was the outcome of that match-up?

  6. Vidor sports has hit a lull again...their soccer team made the playoffs this year' date=' but that was a first. Their football team is weak year after year...Their boys hoop team made the playoffs a few years in a row. their girls team is a joke and their baseball team, young or not, isnt much better. A change of the AD is what the doctor needs to order.[/quote']

I wonder if this statement would ever have been made had this Vidor baseball team made the play-offs. What does a new AD do? Clean house on the coaching staff? This IS a young team and I am certain they will make some noise in the season to come if their parents can keep their negative opinions to themselves.

  7. Swarm'n d- "Some has to do with the coach, some has to do with the program? " Who runs the program?

As far as Mike Rogers goes-he is one of the best. Jasper was GREAT when Mike Rogers was there and they were 4-A. You say they got better when Coach Mixon came on board? I'll give him some credit, but you need to remember, they also moved down to 3-A after Rogers left. Kind of like Bridge City-the competition really isn't as steep in 3-A for them until they get to the play-offs. Coach Rogers has done alot for the tough district he competes in at Alvin (5-A). A great coach is a great coach no matter what size district they compete in.

  8. I would have to disagree! Even the WOS Coaches will tell you that 90% of the Little League kids in Orange go to LCM when they get older. Things are different now than they used to be in Baseball at WO-S. They used to have the big Wesco Little League they haven't had that for years.

So, where did WOS baseball kids play little league?

Doesn't really matter, you can blame the lack of an organized little league system in WOS if you want, but players had better participate in more than your basic little league these days to make it in the line up of a competative 3-A or 4-A school.

  9. I don't think your point is valid if you take into account the size of school and the number of athletes you have to work with, your competition in district (whatever size district that may be) is dealing with essentially the same issues and you start the season with a fairly level playing field, so to speak. If you have a great coach, he will be able to develop the players to a level conducive to winning. Surely the coaches with consistent winning records year in and year out deserve SOME credit, regardless of school size. If you are in the play-offs 8 out of 10 seasons in 1-A, that is impressive because you have had success over teams at your level of competativeness (amount of talent available at the beginning of the season is about the same as everyone else in 1-A). Same goes for 5-A, 4-A, 3-A, 2-A. Sure there will always be those schools that squeek by each year just below the radar in numbers in attendance, say, a very large 4-A school that is pushing 5-A numbers, but I don't think LCM is one of them.

  10. I hope that is not truly the case with BC. If they continue to win (which I am sure they will), there will be plenty of opportunities for different kids to have their "15 minutes" on the local sports reports. Surely they get enough attention with game highlights on the news and seem to always be the top topic of conversation in articles about the team. There are lots of other players that are key to the cards continued success-I don't blame coach Bryant for wanting to let some of the others get some positive attention-they deserve it!
