Agree, the two years White Oak won state is the last time this region had a team on that level. And they weren't even in the same level as those Arp, Kountze, and EC teams. This year I believe LaMarque is, but really they are a 4A...

There was nothing like those games, in Kountze and East Chambers' old gyms! Arguably the best teams to come throughout EC didn't make State, bc Kountze and Arp were just that good. Thomas and McDonald went to 4 straight regional tournaments. Loss to Kountze in the regional final twice (Freshman and Junior years), Kountze would go on to win State both years. And then loss to Arp in the regional semifinals twice (Soph. and Senior). Arp would win State one of thos years, lose to the state champs the other. If we could of had those 4 years of players at any other time, we would no doubt have a state championship.

Have no doubt, I never saw any kind of trash talking or bad language towards other players. But his effor is what is holding him back, the kid could be a really exceptional player.

Most underrated skill in basketball. As for #4 I have not once said he was not a tremendous player, he's just not the best player in the area (or IMO D1 caliber). The main reason I don't think he is, is his body language throughout a game. I was very disappointed with his lack of effort defensively against EC, and his demeanor. Is he the best pure scorer in the area, quite possibly. Overall player, no. The kid can play basketball, not taking anything away from you, just not at the overall level some people think.

Kountze has a very tough road, but a road they could possibly get through. Hitchcock is a very streaky team (don't think Kountze will have a problem, but it is the playoffs). Newton is no cake walk, they will give Kountze game. Then Hempstead, I will be surprised if Kountze is in the regional tourney. TJ is good, but he's not Grayland. As for Buna, they are going to hit a wall in the 3rd round.

If you switch the worst coach in the area with the best, one team is going to get better the other will get worse! It's a double edged sword, players can make coaches look good, as coaches can make players look good. I've seen many teams with good players lose to teams they shouldn't, because of coaching.

LaMarque had the same players they did when they played in the EC tournament. They actually played with a purpose last night, like they have the last two years in the playoffs. This team will be at state.

LaMarque is the real deal. They were very impressive tonight.
