Someone who has given Jasper depth both this year and last is John Bradley. Last year as a utility player, he started left field if Justin Parsons was pitching. He started 2nd base if Ryan Ellis was pitching. When neither was pitching, he played right field. IMO this is a true utility player. He also knocked in the go ahead run in the 3rd playoff game against BC that sent them to Round Rock. Also, fielded the last defensive out in left field of that game, relaying the ball to short to make the throw to third for the last out that would have been the tying run.
This year he started at 2nd base and is now playing shortstop. Also the back-up catcher and stepped in to catch when regular catcher was injured in BC. During preseason, OBA was .489 and AVG was 353, with 14 RBI's. In District his OBA is .450 and AVG is .324, with 9 RBI's.
There are many who could be called on to play any position on the field, but not many are asked to do so. I think every coach likes to have someone like that. He is also a Mirabeau Scholar Finalist at Lamar and will be attending there on an academic scholarship in the fall.

Actually, he has struck out once in the last 5 games. But he did strike out 3 times v H-J in the last game.He has struck out like 9 times in the last 3 games vs. HJ, but he can run.

Actually Bronson was 2-5 ( 2 HR's) with 2 walks (one intentional)Parsons actually will be credited with all 7 innings tonight but didn't get the loss, it went to kid that started the game and saw only 4 hitters and got no outs, then was pulled for Parsons who went the rest of the way, making it all 7 innings, tonight. HF played well and grabbed huge lead and then hung on. Bronson was 3-5 with 2 jacks tonight. Great win for the Horns.

Malcolm is exciting to watch. Explosive at the plate, dangerous on the bases. He has 33 runs, 31 hits, 32 RBI's, 13 extra bases, 7 homeruns and can beat out a bunt. And crosses the plate with a big smile on his face--just has fun.

Aaron Stephenson was 2 HR's (grand slam), 1 walk, 7 RBI's v. Silsbee

How about that Malcolm Bronson! A homerun, a triple, and two doubles. He might have hit for the circuit if he were not so fast. The first double was in reality a single up the middle for average folks. But the WOS CF played it casually perhaps like for a normal runner, and Bronson just zipped on to second when he saw that it was a soft throw back to the infield. At least that is a paraphrasing of what I heard from the Jasper announcer.
Perhaps we can get him to change the scoring to a single and SB
I'm surprised Malcom didn't do just that--we have discussed it one other time.

Although Jasper defeated Coldsprings, Chris Westerdahl of Coldsprings, threw a no-hitter.
-
After Bronson was safe on a fielder's choice, he stole 2nd, and I believe he scored from there on Parson's hit, unless I missed a steal.
-
Hart has had at least 7 steals since tournament play this year and district starts next week--so I don't know when one actually starts counting.
-
In the top of the first, Fazio hit the 2nd batter Yates, and Bronson was safe on a fielder's choice. Parsons singled, scoring Bronson. Fazio came out after 4 2/3 innings. Jasper then scored twice in the 5th and once in the 6th.
Marx Marcantel, Taylor Hart and Justin Parsons threw for Jasper.
