Not sure if that is the rule at Orangefield or not. However, we had the opportunity to hire Willis before she ever left to LCM. We also had the opportunity to hire Curry before she left for a plant job. The powers that be have chosen to go in a different direction and that has caused us 4 coaches in 7 or 8 years. You had three people that would have stayed at Orangefield despite the pay, two of which were mentored by Ancelot. I guess all schools don't have the same restriction because Riddick is now a head coach at LCM. That is good about our middle school talent, I didn't know that. However, that does not translate to high school success. I guess we will see what takes place.

Had that chance several times but passed on Coach Willis, Coach Riddick, and Coach Curry. It's not an attractive job right now. Very few of our big athletes are playing basketball. Seems like volleyball and softball have taken over here at the big O.

Well, I was not at the game so I do not know what happened but I did expect BC to win. I think HF will finish 3rd in district and I think the district is not near as good as last year and horrible compared to the past. I think our OF girls will compete for 4th place with WOS but if this was 10 years ago we would get beat by the JV teams we had. The district isn't what it was when my oldest went through.

No. I have watched both teams play. HF coach finding things aren't so easy without his two superstars. Though he did have a post player I had never seen before when I watched them. She was pretty good.

What happened to the previews for each team this upcoming season?

Sounds like she got a good job. She should have never been hired as a head coach her first year. I think that is why she left so soon. Young Guns GOLD you know how us parents are at Orangefield. I think she has a great future but she was put in a situation she should not have been in and it was tough. I thought she did a good job considering her experience. I also think OF is going to have a tough time making the playoffs this year (Buna, HJ, HF, WOS, and BC). Maybe she knew the upcoming climb. Best of luck to Coach Sanders at her new job.

Actually I have my last daughter going into high school this year. I have had other children in the OF program for years and have watched HF volleyball for a long time. Your comment insinuated that HF would be good again this year only because they are "stronger and faster." So I told you it doesn't matter who is there as long as they have that coach they will be good. You have made comments about them lifting weights as if they have not done that in the past. I'm sure they have been lifting for quite sometime. She deserves the credit. I started talking about football because you brought up experience should equal success. If this is true, why wasn't the football team successful last year? Frankly I don't care. I don't agree with anything you have said through this thread except HF will be good this year. We will be down in OF but it will only last for one year. What is an avatar?

We agree just completely different reasons. I wish someone else that knows volleyball would chip in here. It will be a tough year for my lady bobcats but we had a great season last year. By your state that experience is a strength that is true. But you have implied that you should win because of experience. By that theory HF's football team should have been good last year because a lot of those boys played varsity for 3 years.

I think you are trying to give credit to the wrong people. Those girls work hard every year and every summer. This year is no different. The coaching staff has been there for hundreds of players and many AD's. The head coach and hard work deserve the credit.

I don't think you know anything about volleyball or this district. HF will finish in the top three but not because they are stronger and faster. And being fast has nothing to do with volleyball. Quickness and agility do but not fast. Orangefield graduated almost everyone. Silsbee graduated a lot. HJ graduated a lot of important people. It should involve Bridge City and HF for the district with maybe HJ sneaking in. For you to to say this is HF's year implies that they have never been good. They have been good for a very long time. Don't speak when you don't know.

Last time I checked stronger allowed you to jump higher and be more powerful, fast and quickness are pretty synonymous. You are being ticky tacky. HF is always competitive in volleyball in this district. I think their hard work in the weight room will put them in first place this year. We have alot of returning experience as well. Sorry OF graduated so much, but that is why I love high school and college because it can change every year.

Fast and quick are not synonymous. I have seen many people who were fast but not quick and vice versa. So HF has had a very good program for decades but next year they will be good because of the weight room. HF is not losing anyone that cannot be replaced and they have a good staff at teaching the skills of volleyball. That is why they make the playoffs all the time and that is why they will make it again next year. Not because of weight room. Can a weight room help? Sure. But does it matter how much you lift if you cannot pass, set, spike, or serve? Lifting is secondary to acquiring the skills to play any sport. All football teams lift a lot of weights, but I have seen many without the skill/coaching to compete against other teams.

HF volleyball will probably finish 2nd to BC.
