  1. I think the sheer numbers are what makes people scratch their heads some. The actual economics of it for a city the size of McKinney aren't bad at all. Still a huge number for academics to come to terms with when you think of what that could provide for regular students. I think there are 3 or 4 more ISD's that could build/are building stadiums like this pretty soon if they so chose. Most interesting part of it is the stadium is estimated to cost $300k more than Katy's, probably just to say they have the most expensive stadium in the state.
  2. He has 27 reported offers so far, should be over 30 by the end of the Spring evaluation period. I think he's the second best receiver in the state behind Damion Miller at John Tyler.
  3. Well, Coach Rio2 has moved on to Flower Mound Marcus. Glad to see him get a 6A opportunity closer to home. Great coach and great educator also, will most certainly be missed. Coach Nash will be taking over the receiver coaching now. On a lighter note, Sqwirl picked up two offers from Va. Tech and Auburn today to go with Mannie's offer from Ole' Miss after his de-commitment from A&M last night. Pretty impressive who's who of colleges coming through Crosby handing out offers today.
  4. Yeah, you're talking about DeAndre McNeal. Malik flashed so much more on film it's hard to say McNeal was better but he was definitely an elite prospect at the position coming out of high school. His problem is that he's a 'tweener IMO, he's nearly 240lbs and trying to play in the slot. He's better suited to play H/TE but he's short for the position. Tough luck but the kid is determined to catch passes at Texas so we'll see what happens when this new crop of receivers gets there.
  5. That's how he should be looking at RSJ for not being able to pull double coverage off of him in the slot. I've already said in another thread that I think Mannie will have an Ashley Lelie type effect on the college game, at least Kirk could've played with one receiver that lived up to his rating other than himself before he leaves College Station after his junior year. Mannie's de-commitment was bigger than Martell's IMO though. A&M needs to give a long hard look at Jason Shelly or try to flip Avery Davis and stop chasing oos guys with high star rankings, I would even throw Kellon Mond into that mix even though he's from Texas.
  6. I think McCulloch will push for playing time immediately if he has a good Summer. I expect him to be around 250lbs during fall camp, would suck to have to start a true freshman in the middle for the second straight year but I think he's actually more suited to do so than Malik. Wheeler is the starter on the weak side and pretty light, not sure he holds up in the middle. Maybe Edwin Freeman can get some reps there and allow Malik to move out to his more natural position?
  7. Yeah, exactly what I said was/is still true though. It was actually more of a "home game" for Ridge Point anyway since they're closer to NRG. The reason I said if healthy is because Grace blew out his knee in the second game of the season against Angleton in a 34-0 win where he had 7 carries for 99 yards in the first quarter. It didn't affect us against anyone else during the season but killed us not to have his inside running presence against Ridge Point. It's far from true that anyone can beat anyone on a given night. With the product I saw Lumberton put on the field we could have played that game 100 times and won 70-0 nearly every time. At the Nederland vs New Caney game Coach Babin himself said "we just don't have anything like that in Lumberton". Same for Galena Park and half the other teams in our district. Crosby has only lost 2 games to teams in the SETXsports coverage area the last four year and both of those schools are 6A now. You will continue to hear the same thing, at least from me, as it pertains to the outlook/predictions for Crosby football. Crosby is no longer judged on regular season success, we're at the point now where we can go 11-0 and it still be considered a sub-par season. Do some research man, the only teams Crosby's staff are worried about reside in SW Houston and Central Texas with the exception of Manvel. Everyone on the staff has more couth than me and would never admit that though.
  8. With the additions of the kids from San Antonio and Summer Creek, Crosby has both sides of the ball solidified for the most part. I'm sure a couple of things will change over the Summer and Fall camp though. You can expect Netherly to put up something like 35tds/5ints with about 1,500 rushing yards to go with it if Crosby is healthy. I also expect well over 2,000 yards from the backfield combination of Williams and Grace. For the fourth straight year Crosby will put a faster and more potent combination of athletes on the field than the previous year. If Crosby is healthy the only games they should have a chance of losing are the two non-district games and the potential second round rematch with Manvel, other than that only the Temple's and Cedar Park's of the region would scare Crosby.
  9. I guess I don't understand what you were asking/saying?
  10. More likely than not Martell is going to go to Ohio St. That was the main school that pressured him away from A&M. I wouldn't count out USC either but my guess would be Martell goes to tOSU. A&M was offering other qbs anyway so either they learned their lesson with the transfer of the last two 5-star qbs they had or the staff didn't really feel Martell was head and shoulders above the rest of the qb class around the country. I personally think the three Texas stud qbs for this cycle, which are Ehlinger, Robinson and Mond, are all better than Martell. Instead of reaching for the oos 5-star kids maybe they should do heavier evaluation in state so they could end up with another Tannehill or JF, both of which were three stars that turned into first rounders. Good news for Texas and LSU is that Mannie Netherly also decommitted when Moorehead sent out those tweets. Other than Damion Miller I think Netherly is the best receiver in the state for the '17 class, time for Uncle Charlie to get to work. I think Mannie could be an Ashley Lelie type player in college.
  11. Man, first time I've ever been called out by a pipe fitter on comprehension skills. We have seen what Riordan looks like with all of the best D-1 players on the field, he hasn't lost the last three years when that's been the case, 34-5 to be exact. Here's what BH will do this offseason, it's a normal athletic improvement course for about an hour a day that most decent teams partake in. Crosby, George Ranch, Westfield, Katy, North Shore, etc. all do programs like this. My point is that you're highlighting something that has become standard operating practices around the state, BH is being brought up to speed instead of being the outlier like Dayton obviously is now. 12. You can look at it as betting, I look at it as a possible improvement to the site based of predicted team performance which is mostly what the site it about. Neither of us gain anything from it but it does show how fervent we are in our beliefs. If it's against your religion then it's a moot point and I'm sorry for even bringing it up, too bad you don't get to play fantasy football or anything else of the sort though.
  13. Big congrats to Clayton Callicutt (DE) from Crosby for being selected in the 8th round by the Chicago Bears. UFA's have a hard time making the squad but maybe he can follow in Chance Casey's footsteps and eventually get some run somewhere. Clayton left Angelo State as the all-time sack leader to go with multiple of other conference and national awards. Proud to see him rewarded for his grind and it just goes to show that if you can play they'll find you no matter where you are. [Hidden Content]
  14. Most of the decent teams in the DFW all go through the clinic you're talking about. We do Edge in the offseason at Crosby which is the same thing, other teams call it different things other places. Obviously y'all don't do anything like that in Dayton or you would know that. I don't know where you got the stud QB thing from, which is exactly why I asked the question in the Spring Game thread? It's not about stepping up to the plate empty-handed, Westeberg got about a $35k raise to come coach at BH and be the AD. No doubt he thinks he can win at BH, but remember Gage also had two 6A titles when he came. He has an opportunity to boost his retirement just like Price and Gage did, so he took it. When he was the OC at Garland and he won a title he had top tier talent, same for being the head coach at Allen. Do you not think Allen won't be just as good without him? See Euless Trinity, Cedar Park and Aledo who didn't lose a beat when their great coaches left. Think about it, before this last year every QB he coached at Allen went to what is currently a Big 12 school or an SEC school. Last year Seth Greene, who was already committed to Oregon when he transferred, was the only kid not to play in one of those conferences. He chose to play for Minnesota instead. Let's see how he looks when he doesn't have the best players on the field, I think Riordan is going to eat his lunch.
  15. Lol, Dayton will be doing well to make the playoffs 2016. Nations isn't walking into a situation like Riordan where you have 5000+ yards of offense in your backfield and an all-state receiver on the outside. Dayton and KP have similar talent levels and Maple went 2-8 his first year at the helm in 21-5A, that's coming from another head coaching job whereas Nations hasn't called a play in a game in 5 years. If you're confident we can always make a friendly wager though? Dayton wins district and I'll donate $250 to the site, if they don't win district you donate $250 to the site. I'll even give you an out, if Dayton doesn't win district but PNG does we still push. Deal?
  16. Kingwood Park is the team that I think would give Crosby trouble next year. BH is switching to a more wide open offense but is running an athletic deficit right now. Crosby has trouble with teams that pound it on us like Ridge Point, Cedar Park, Elgin and King. When Dayton was consistently beating Crosby they used to pound it on us too, even BH had some success in the first half running it on us last year. I think Riordan has shown enough to be able to make the statement, that if you don't have high level talent that you won't beat Crosby. It's very difficult to out-scheme Crosby on either side of the ball which is what BH would have to do to win right now. Other than Elgin which had the Simmons brothers, who were probably the best backfield in Central Texas that year, everybody that has beaten Crosby the last three or four years has at least 3 and 4 star players on the roster. That's what it takes to win at the top of 5A now, Crosby has more of that than any 5A school in the coverage area except for maybe PAM. Unless we lost to Reagan or Manvel which are good possibilities, Crosby probably wins their second consecutive undefeated district championship.
  17. Lol, almost as good as the one where you said Dayton would win by 3tds and lost. I still need to collect my dinner on that one too.
  18. Mannie Netherly, committed to A&M to play receiver but depending on who you ask he probably could've been the guy last year. With Williams and Grace back there I would think that it should be the fastest backfield in 5A next year.
  19. Who's playing quarterback for BH next year? One of the freshman qbs that will be a sophomore next year or the baseball kid that will be a senior but hasn't played since he was a freshman? Someone else? Whoever it is will probably have a rough adjustment period once district starts, BH plays Vidor which doesn't get you ready for anybody else and Santa Fe before lining it up with Crosby to start district for the 5th year in a row.
  20. That's good for Dayton. Kids always get motivated when they see those college logos on recruiter's shirts when they walk into the field house. As far as the "what if . . . " question it was more geared towards the reassurance you've given us that Nations is a better coach than Hancock. I think Crosby has a better than good chance of beating Dayton the next 9 years in a row anyway though, we probably only have six more years to play in district before Crosby moves to 6A. I think Crosby having better coaches, better players, better support, better facilities, a bigger enrollment and more resources in general is going to be too much for Dayton to deal with in the coming future. I think these next three years Crosby wins by an average of about 20ppg.
  21. Mann used to do it all, handled the recruiting across all sports and the college/career advising. Rio2 is Riordan's younger brother and the receivers coach. Ro2 is the kicking/special teams coach. Ro2 is handling some of the current football recruiting but he also tweets about our former football players too. Coach Nash actually has what Mann's official title was though. It's hard to replace coach Mann with one person, but with a new defensive coordinator and the hiring of coach Nash as the "offensive coordinator" the staff may be stronger in general. Guess we'll have to wait until August to find out though.
  22. I remember you sais that last year too. Then those big boys up front could only get Styner 45 rushing yards while Dayton averaged less than 3ypc as a team. I played golf with a Dayton admin the other day and let's just say, you're a lot more optimistic than he was/is. Paraphrasing it was relayed that Dayton "doesn't have anymore Cody Green's or AJ Dugat's walking the halls." It's interesting you think Nations will make that much of a difference, all the kids' parents I've talked to said everything looks the same except for more kids playing. I hope Dayton does improve for next year, no way y'all should've lost to PNG with that squad they put on the field. My question is what do you do if Nations gets there and produces the exact same results as Hancock, or misses the playoffs his first year?
  23. Craig Williams is probably the fastest 100m sprinter in the SETX coverage area. He ran a 10.34 FAT 100m, 4.36 electronic 40yd. If those were hand times he would have probably gone 10-flat in the 100m and about 4.25 in the 40yd. Arnold is a burner for sure, but like you said, it will all be handled at regionals.
  24. Crosby's new "offensive coordinator" is a guy named Marvin Nash who came from Denton Guyer. Coach Mann didn't have to teach class when he held the position but Rio2 is like the advanced Calculus teacher or something. Not sure if he will continue to teach, coach receivers AND be the recruiting coordinator also or move fully into the role coach Mann held. We got a good one with coach Nash though, he's been around high level talent at Guyer and should be able to add value to the offensive coaching staff. He's probably the new Mann as far as being able to connect with players.
  25. Agreed. Some people were bigger fans than others but I don't think it's an overstatement to say his skill set was elite. Crosby will rebound and has already started the process of filling the recruiting coordinator position, Coach Mann will certainly land on his feet somewhere else.
