Who knows, this might be Crosby's best team under Riordan too. I highly doubt they're better than the teams he had in the '90s with his son running for 3000+ though, or the two or three years after his son left. Hopefully we do get to play them, at least it'll mean we won the region again.

If Crosby does get to go D2 they could have a path to the semis that consisted of PNG, Texas City, Brenham and College Station. It's by no means easy, but I would call that "the stars aligning" for us. No disrespect to Calallen but Crosby would by far have the easiest route to the title game of all the predictions LSG made. Same for the route DC's had us going to the semis. As far as Manvel being the only legit team from Houston with a chance, they might not even be the best team on 288 next year with Angleton right down the street. They have both Region IV teams from the SW side predicted to make the regional final with the winner getting Cedar Park. Manvel would have to get through four teams out of combination of FB Elkins, Ennis, Temple, Waxahachie AND Cedar Park just to even win the region in D1, then face Angleton or Foster in the semis. With all the high enrollment schools in Fort Bend moving up into their proper classification mixed with the Central Texas realignment, D2 has been left wide open in region 3.

I think an even bigger part of that are the views of the people that actually vote on the bonds. Ned has won 6 consecutive district championships, how do you sell better facilities to a town who's already won a state title with those facilities and currently dominates the district? Not to mention, the stagnant growth and/or contraction of the area doesn't really warrant them. It's hard to pass a bond when you could potentially have less of a tax base to support it 10 years down the road. From an income per household perspective Ned and Crosby are pretty similar, the difference is that we have a growing population so our bond wasn't really to upgrade(even though we got a lot), it was more to accommodate. I would imagine there's also a bit of the "keeping up with the Jones' " factor too, par for facilities in the Houston suburbs is a little higher than what you find on average in the SETX area.

My only question is where does Dayton get their work in? I think it's going to take 4 or 5 games like it did when Riordan took over. I think CV is a great game to see where your squad is athletically and Ned is a good game to check your execution in a tough environment. Other than Splendora, five of Dayton's first six games are against CV, Ned, Humble, New Caney and BH. Dayton has a good chance to come out of there 5-0 but I wouldn't be surprised if they come out 2-3 under a first year coach. It at least sounds like Dayton has fixed the depth issues though.

Our trainers usually keep a few tubes of Boudreaux's butt paste to help opponents as we crop-dust SETX. I'm sure we have extra room in the playoff budget for charter buses and cowbells so a little salve shouldn't be an issue.

Just like your last 6 games against Ned have. Only difference is that we won our first 11 and expected to win that one too. PNG puts L's on the schedule before they even released.

. . . . and Ned with their great coach and execution is where? ? ? ? ? That's right, they're in line buying Vaseline waiting on Dayton to come to town. Look at it on the bright side BigDog, you'll probably be able to say "I told you so" after the Manvel game . . . Then you'll get to sit quietly by, while we run off 13 or 14 in row, and hope somebody from Central Texas or SW Houston can beat us before the site crashes.

They owned the early 2000's making it to the championship game from 2000-2003. Last years defending champion Cedar Park is predicted as the runner up. This would be their fourth championship game in the last five years. Dallas Highland Park and Richmond Foster will also be very good teams to watch. In Division II, Aledo is back. Where they really gone though, having made the championship game five of the last seven years. We have them set to play Crosby who was our #1 team last year. Frisco Lone Star will also be back and wants another shot at the championship. A surprise team may be College Station. Chris Says: This is kind of a flip flop from last season. Aledo and Crosby were both DI and are now going to go DII. Cedar Park on the other hand looks to be going up to DI. In the end it looks like our #1 and #2 (Denton Ryan and Aledo) will both walk away state champions while Cedar Park will make the trip again but is predicted to come up a bit short. It also looks like we may have been early on Crosby last year was pegged to go to the title game and this year should make the journey to AT&T Stadium. There will be a lot of emotion surrounding Corpus Christi Calallen as Phil Danaher is likely to become the winningest coach in Texas high school football history. Who know? That kind of emotion could be enough to even move them into a title match. Don't sleep on Lancaster, Temple or College Station though as peaking at the right time could upset the entire dance card. Regardless of who is standing in December, this is likely to be the best competition of any football in Texas this year. What do you say?

5A - That's right. Aledo is back at the top of the polls. Yes, it was a tight contest between them and Denton Ryan - in fact, internally we went back and forth between the two for quite some time. Cedar Park fans are sure to be saying, "what the heck?" but come on... there are just some amazing teams in Class 5A again this season. Strong 6A programs that dropped down and solid ones that remain in the class. When you look at the top of this heap, we are talking the top 10 teams all being capable of taking a a state championship... the squads are all that good. So don't get bent about who is at #2 and who is at #5 - rest assured that simply making it into the Big 30 in such a deep classification means you have a team that could have an amazing season. Nah it wouldn't, Lone Star would be pretty tough I imagine. I didn't think y'all would get blow out by Lake Ridge only to watch them get shut out by George Ranch either though.

IDK the dimensions, maybe someone else from Crosby does. I would imagine the administration made sure it's on par with some of the large ones in the state though:

I don't think there's a lot of confidence in Crosby. We just get the benefit of the doubt because we're the best option by default. When our head coach was the OC at Sulphur Springs he won state with a qb named Tyrik Rollison, the qb we'll have this year is has lot of those same qualities and is currently committed to LSU to play receiver. One of our rbs tore his ACL in the second game of the year last year and will be back, he was a big part of our semifinal run as a sophomore in '14. Our other rb is rated the #3 APB in his class and probably should have won state as a sophomore in the 100m but false started at the area or regional meet, he's put on some weight and should be even better than the 10+ ypc he averaged last year. We'll be hard to stop on offense once you mix in the receiving core. The question is, can we match the 19ppg we've allowed on defense the last two years? Calallen is a solid program but I think if we can get through region 3 the way it's stacked this year, it's probably a formality that we get to Dallas.

Well, they have to actually be a difference-maker to make that statement true. Not just tall.

Arrogance got us to the semis, when is the last time being humble got Ned there? Everyone gunned for us last year too, everybody in this coverage area came up short. As far as teams dropping, you should know all about that. Georgetown went 11-10 their last realignment before they dropped down and back-stroked Ned by 32 points in the regional final, then 26 more the next year. Denton Guyer dropped down the same year Georgetown did and beat them in the title game, then followed it up with another title in 2013. Denton Ryan is ranked #1 as almost a consensus, why? Solely because they dropped down to 5A and won't be dealing with the likes of Carroll and Allen anymore. Do you think Manvel is going to struggle now that they've dropped down, very similar athletes to what you'll see as the PA kids fly by your dogs? Maybe you're right though, Highland Park dropped down and could struggle to match the 10 wins they had last year.

The difference is that you KNOW you have no hope. In Crosby we believe there's hope because we were one game away from the goal a couple of years ago, not in the '70's. I don't brag about D1 kids because we don't have a lot of them compared to some other 5A schools in Houston, I highlight the playmakers. If they're D1 caliber then so be it. Think about it though NDN, PNG has faced two D1 caliber back the last two times they've been to the playoffs. They've combined for about 40 carries, 600 yards and 9 or 10 tds, doing better is relative to expectations which are higher in Crosby than PNG at this point. There's no coincidence you were scorched in both of those games by kids with superior talent.

I have to switch my predictions some based on some of the FNF info. New Caney got some transfers from KP and Caney Creek that it looks like might help, but Humble looks like they finally have a trigger man to run the show after the promising freshman from last year transferred out. My new predicted order of finish is: 1. Crosby 2. Dayton 3. Humble 4. Kingwood Park 5. New Caney 6. Barbers Hill 7. Porter 8. Layup 9. Dunk This order of finish would secure Crosby into D2 and basically avoid all the 5A powerhouses until a potential regional final matchup with College Station or a semifinal matchup with Calallen.

Yeah, sad thing about that is PNG probably isn't even playoff quality in either district . . .

That's my opinion too. On an off night I think Central could get them strictly due to matchup advantages they won't have, but I don't think anybody else in that district has a realistic shot at beating them if both teams play well. Nederland and PNG are child's play compared to being on the field with the team you named.

I don't think they respect any of y'all in that district to be honest. They used the word "dominate" multiple times. That tells me a lot about how they're going through the offseason. I think expecting to dominate is a positive thing, not a lot of players/teams would have the stones to say that. The PAM kids seems like they could care less about having a target on their backs for comments of bravado. A lot of swagger and arrogance in their tone . . . I wonder where I've heard that before?

You're the one that said all the stuff about coaching and not needing the top tier players. I'm just saying your great coach got his but kicked by Flannigan who we fired, then called Riordan and asked if he was scared to play only to get his behind whipped again. Neumann has been a head coach for 20+ years, Riordan for only 4. Are you conceding that he's a better coach because he whips you worse than Flannigan did or do all those athletes make a difference? I used 10 years because we're trying to make it relevant BigDog. I know you would prefer to go back to the '90's where your argument holds more validity but once again, how many of the schools that played for 5A state championship last year were even around then? Those recruits helped us helped us go 5-1 against Ned with Neumann at the helm and they also helped us go 6-1 the last seven years against your district in the first round, y'all won the district and Neumann got outcoached by Jim Holley and his 4th place KP team in bi-district. Probably because Jaylen Henderson(UTSA) was a little better than Seay(McNeese) that day, or at least he held on to the ball better. You outlined my point in you very first statement though BigDog. Neumann is a great coach, yet you still have less everything. Count the extra district title if you want but I"ll chalk that one up to playing in a district with Dayton and Summer Creek.

The majority of the state is growing except for SETX which is why just one district over Crosby can be the sixth smallest of nine schools with 1,668 kids. LCISD already opened Fulshear and they'll end up being a powerhouse too, just like Foster is. Katy is Katy but tradition means very little to the kids that are too young to remember it now days. Just as an example, out of the four 5A teams to make the state championship games Cedar Park was the only school open prior to 2010, and Cedar Park just opened in 1998.
