1. Here is a facebook post from a Lumberton parent: The news of Coach Credeur leaving makes me sick to my stomach! I consider myself one of the fortunate ones who got to play for Alvin Credeur. The things that we learned about life and being a responsible, productive member of society far outweigh 3 State Championships and the approximately 35-40 wins (but who's counting) on the football field. I also played baseball during those years for Credeur and twice we made it to the state championship game. With Credeur, we learned that no one is bigger than the team. If you didn't buy into that philosophy, then don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out. If he would have asked us to, we would have run through a brick wall for him. He is a great leader and a great man. He is the same today as he was over two decades ago. The only thing in my mind that is different is the quality of parenting on display today. If my kids had played for him, I would have been thankful that I didn't have to worry about anything. I could do my job, and he and his staff could do theirs. I could sleep well at night knowing who I had left in charge of my kids for hours each day was going to do as good, or better, of a job than I could do with them. They would have learned things like having Poise under pressure, Responsibility, Integrity, Discipline/ Dedication, and Excellence both on and off the field. P.R.I.D.E. is something that was preached to us every day and if you didn't like it, they told you to "pack your sh*t and get out." The difference was they knew we couldn't leave because our parents wouldn't let us quit. The coach was right and the kids were wrong. Boy, how things have changed. Our parents didn't question anything and our moms and dads didn't try to coach the team and tell him who should be playing what. Everybody didn't bank their kids future on getting an athletic scholarship. They planned on their kid going to college and learning lots of life's lessons while in high school, and if they were lucky enough to get some offers, then they thanked God for the blessing. Now, most parents think their kid is special and if they don't get a full ride to a D1 school, then the coaching staff is to blame and has failed to provide what they are "entitled" to. It's a real shame that mine will not be learning these life lessons from Alvin Credeur! He is not only a great coach, but also a great, christian man !! Coach Credeur will not be the one who suffers from this. The real tragedy is the generations of kids that won't get to learn those same lessons from him. It's a sad day.

HR's by Saatzer and Mullens Ozen got no hit for the week
Man, why would you pull him one inning from a no hitter?
You coach young kids.  Answer your own question for me please..... ;D
Pitch count, especially as a freshman.  Arm still has some maturing to do.
If you have kids playing sports, you should read Any Given Monday by Dr. James Andrews.  You will definitely know the answer to that question after hearing him talk about pitch counts, rest and recovery, etc.  You hear coaches of select teams quoting the pitching limits of Nation's or USSSA, while ignoring the limits used by Little League/Senior League (which Andrews wrote).  I think I'll go with the guidance of the man who has studied this stuff for 40 years and who has done surgeries on guys like Pujols, Clemens, Aikman, Nicklaus, Bo Jackson, Adrian Peterson, Brees, etc, etc.  Any rules that don't take # of pitches into account (Nation's/USSSA) are a joke.

Well Cents, where are the excuses??
You know my name is in your mouth a lot kid. Obsessed much? I didn't even say a word about the png vidor baseball game yet you still put my name into it like I was talking about it. Enjoy your little baseball victory kid. That's about all you'll be able to enjoy for a while lmao.
Kid?? I probably have underwear older than you son!!! Reason your name is put into it is because you ALWAYS have a negative comment torwards PNG whenever they lose, esp. to the Vidorians.
Name calling and insults are acceptable but don't be bringing old, dirty underwear into this.  I know you didn't say they were dirty but one can only imagine with a screen name like richard cranium. :o
 4.
We can probably agree to include from Gulf coast through the lakes area.  The real question is whether or not, for this discussion, you include the other side of the Trinity.
Anything East of the Beltway.
 5. We can probably agree to include from Gulf coast through the lakes area.  The real question is whether or not, for this discussion, you include the other side of the Trinity.
 6. I'm just curious Highpoint, where are you getting that info?  I know it's not exactly on topic but I find that kind of stuff interesting.  And since we are still kind of off topic, I don't agree with 2cents but I would have guessed that Vidor would have been a higher percentage under the poverty line.  Just my observation over the years.
 7. I agree with johnny and twocent.  Lumberton vs LCM will be interesting but I'll take Lumberton with White on the mound.  I'm guessing Jonboy Smith will be pitching for Vidor and if so I'll take Vidor over PNG (Vidor more hungry for the win while PNG is still on a high from beating cross town rival in a marathon game)
 8. I agree.  This week is when we find out if Lumberton is 'for real'.  Two very good opponents in the same week makes it tough on a pitching staff.  We'll see what happens.
 9. BC, HJ and OF win no matter where they play.
 10. It's all in how you make the correction.  You can do it without calling the man out.  There, you've had your lesson in manners and how to play nice with others for the day. :)

Hey Gabe, maybe Gladtobehere should start writing the articles for the Orange Leader. ::)
No SoloCup, I could never get that one sided Orange spin right...... LOL I so sorry that a report cannot be held accountable, the story was wrong, I intended to just set the record straight......
11. I don't think the freshman will shut Ned down but he should keep them off balance enough to give their offense a chance.  I'll take PNG 4-3
 12. I didn't get to see the game but I'm impressed with what I hear about the Vidor pitcher, Smith.  He sounds like the real deal and it's a shame Vidor lost with such a great game pitched by that young man.  Sounds like both teams played pretty good baseball.  Congrats to Lumberton on the win.
 13. Very wise YosemiteSam.  :) But seriously, I agree with most of you that LCM was the better team, just not on that day.  That is why I am about to make what will appear to be a senseless prediction.  I don't think Nederland will make it through week 2 without a loss.  And since Nederland would sacrifice their firstborn to keep from losing to PNG later in the week, I believe LCM will hand Nederland their first district loss on Tuesday. Let me follow that up by saying that IF Nederland can beat LCM and PNG this week, I will go ahead and join the rest of Bulldog nation and prematurely crown them district 20-4A champs and begin singing their praises.  But I honestly don't see that happening.
 14. Should be a great game but I have to go with Silsbee in this one.
 15. How did that PNG/LCM game turn out?  ???
Lumberton Vidor LC-M (SETXBaseball2016 not this week, IMO) Nederland
16. I guess I called this one.  People think just because PNG lost to Lumberton that they could be written off or overlooked.  Not the case.
 17. Lumberton won 18-1 in 5 innings Junior Chris Campbell, Freshman Brandon Young and Junior John Smith pitched
 18. The Henrys that I remember were Adam '90, Patrick '89, Herbert '88, David '84(?) and John '79(never saw John play).  Here is what I remember:  Adam was a good PG and could shoot lights out, very similar to David who was also great perimeter shooter.  Patrick was talented, athletic, strong and probably the toughest of the bunch (started at linebacker for Lamar and lead team in tackles his true freshman year) but not a 'stand out in basketball'.  Herbert-one of the most gifted athletes I have ever seen in my life.  Could score from anywhere on the field, but mostly TB and receiver.  Could also win a 3 point and a dunk contest in the same day.  Simply amazing!  It's worth mentioning that Adam was just as amazing on the football field.  He won state in '90, broke every receiving record at McNeese and then played with the Saints. Coached at McNeese, then 5 years with Raiders and is now coaching receivers at LSU. And Ryan Hunter was definitely top 5 all-time from Kelly, He graduated '91 and then played at Fordham.  Ryan Hunter played at Odom with Lucious 'Luke' Jackson (we called him Lukie back in the day) before going to Kelly and Westbrook respectively.  Back then, everybody talked about the 2 8th graders at Odom who could dunk and I mean really dunk.  They were both special. All that to say I would put Persia, Ryan Hunter, Adam, Herbert and David on top 5 Little sidenote: Luke Jackson's dad, Lucious Sr. won a Gold medal in basketball for USA in '64 Tokyo Olympics and then played with Wilt on 76ers for about a decade.  That man was big!

Ill make an attempt at a Kelly list. It may be a little off. Feel free to correct. This isn't a starting 5 just some players that come to mind: J'Covan Brown Taylor Mullenax Edward Persia Jude Messina Ryan Zummo Johnathon Brown Matthew Pace Keenan Simon Anyone who goes further back than me feel free to expand.
What about all of the Henry brothers?
the Henry brothers are definitely worthy of being on the list. Dont know how i forgot them. There was also a guy from Kelly that went to Fordham in the early 90's i believe. I cant seem to remember the name though.
19. I don't consider it an upset but I would have to pick PNG over LCM.  PNG will be more focused than ever after the loss to Lumberton and ready to get back headed in the right direction.
 20.
any updates? Lumberton @ HJ
Someone who was at the game tonight will have to confirm but... Lumberton handed HJ their first loss of the year tonight.  3-2 Matt White pitched a complete game and had 18 Strikeouts!!! Is this for real?  I thought someone was pulling my leg but I'm hearing it from multiple sources. Please confirm if you were at the game.  Wish I had been there to watch that performance.
