  1. So a minor can leagally consent to sex, but cannot open a bank account? That makes sense.
  2.   It's a double edged sword.   On one hand, these students need to "practice" speaking English in order to assimlate into the educational/cultural environment. The ultimate goal is to speak English as a Second Language (ESL).     On the other hand, many of the students that are "new arrivals" need to speak their native language simply to navigate through the school day.   I think the principal had good intentions, but approached it from the wrong direction. I'm not so sure she should have been fired. She probably should have simply been put on a Growth Plan in reagrd to the issue at hand. We are all subject to re-education from time to time.
  3. I'm  The boy was 17 and the girl was 16.     Texas Romeo and Juliet Law- "This meant that a consensual sexual relationship between a 16 year-old and a 17-year old was illegal, and would result in the 17-year old registering.  Although it is still illegal, recent changes to Texas law now exempts the actor from registering."   Please help me find the ballpark.
  4.   It is my understanding that the Romeo and Juliet Law only prevents the minor from being labled a "sex offender". It does not make the act "legal". I could be wrong.
  5.   Ok. Insert "sexual assault" in place of "statutory rape". Either one is a criminal act.
  6.   Ok. What did I miss? Was the girl over the age of consent?
  7.   Statutory rape is quite illegal. Not punishable by death, but illegal none the less.
  8. Don't come into my house at 2:30 in the morning, without my permission, and expect some pleasantries.   The dad claims the daughter said she did not know the young man. Game over.
  9. I feel like a politician, I flip-flop on my opinion of who the Texans could take with that 1st pick. This morning, John McClain made an interesting point. He contends that O'Brien likes to coach QB's and has an opportunity to draft the pick of the litter. He's convienced the Texans will draft a QB, just not sure which one.   Unless Bortles has a showing similar to Bridgewater, I look for them to draft him. If he has a poor showing, they might take their chances with a late round QB and draft the best player 1st which is probably Clowney.
  10. It's not like they scheduled Lamar.
  11. Cowboys land Henry Melton. Jared Allen signing is unlikely.
  12. UT only recruits choir boys. That's why they have such a hard time playing a physical style of football.
  13.   That's not good for his bank account.
  14.   When Sumlin kicks someone off the team, let us know.
  15. The whole "visiting" concept is quite funny.
  16. New Texas Longhorns coach Charlie Strong dismissed two players from his program Sunday. Defensive back Leroy Scott and fullback Chet Moss were dismissed due to unspecified violations of team rules, the school announced. Scott showed promise as a junior, playing in all 13 games last season and recording three fumble recoveries and 2.5 tackles for loss, and was named the team's co-special teams player of the year. He had played in 38 career games, on defense and special teams, in three years and was expected to compete for an increased role in Texas' secondary this fall. Moss, a junior last season, had been suspended for one game in 2013 and missed two others with a season-ending injury. He appeared in 27 games in his career, mostly as a reserve on special teams, and started one game. They are the first two players to leave the Texas program since Strong was hired in January.     [Hidden Content]
  17. Reavis goes to New England.
  18.   Pick your posion.
  19. Murray might want to play out of his dad's shadow, but I would be shocked if he does not sign with atm.   Someone will end up transferring before its all over. The Allen kid is legit. He will be very good in Sumlin's system.
  20. That dog'll hunt.    Just wonder how Clowney will handle a pay cut.
  21. I have the utmost confidence in UT's ability to identify and develop players at the QB position.
  22. Texas' QB for the next 4 years is already in the fold. These guys all want to play as freshman.
  23. It's a long time 'til February.
